Would it provide any additional "clarification" on whether or not field goals are good or not?

If it can, it'll be interesting to see if that final field goal "mysteriously" doesn't show up. . . .

    Looked good to me.

Can someone please tell me why the Pats never went for a 2 pt conversion so it would have taken 2 tds to win and a fg would have only been a tie.

We'll let you know. Of course, I'm currently trying to get a refund, so I might not have it by the time it comes out.

    That's not quite my question.

My question is, "Does it show it?"

I was planning to buy it anyways—since it gives access to every Pats game since 2009, and access through the offseason—but I just wanted to ask before I spent the extra $$.

Sorry, it was a bit of a compound question. Yes it will show it.

It wasn't. That was obvious to everyone.

A FG that goes over the top of an upright is not reviewable because you cannot determine when exactly the ball is directly over the pole

Except that, as Mike Pereira notes, it has to go inside the uprights. If it goes over the point at the top of the crossbar, it's no good.

At this point, why does it matter? Even if we found irrefutable evidence that the field goal didn't go through the uprights, the most we would get is an apology from the league and a check mark in the loss column.

You're right unfortunately. It just doesn't matter.

Well, if it helps in any way to get the replacement refs off the field and the actual refs on the field. . . .

I want an apology for that mess we witnessed tonight. I've never been so pissed after a game.

Ask Kraft. He is the guy pulling the strings not his lackey Godell.

Fixed it for you. There are a few games in jan/feb that irked me just a bit more.

BELICHICK MAY HAVE BEEN RIGHT... HERE IS THE OFFICIAL RULE REGARDING A FIELD GOAL..... To score a field goal, the team in possession of the ball must place kick the ball through the goal, i.e., between the uprights and over the crossbar, during a play from scrimmage.

    ===================================================

Note that it specifically says "between" the uprights.

The Challenge rule in the NFL says that a ball through the uprights is challengable. A ball above the upright is not.

That being said, when the officials called the FG good, then it had to have gone THROUGH the uprights and thus IS challengable. The officials did not allow Belichick to challenge it, or at the least, the booth should have done it because it was in the final two minutes of the game.

IMO, if the ball was ABOVE the upright and not THROUGH the uprights, the kick should have been deemed NO GOOD.

Nope. Those were incredibly disappointing but this is the first I remember where I am actually pissed. I almost never come to this site after a game, but I really needed to vent after this one. Its not like it was just one or two bad calls that cost us the game, which is a fairly accepted part of football. This was full on, mind blowing incompetence. This should have NFL offices absolutely embarrassed.

I CANT WAIT to see if a video come out to show us a definitive angle of that kick. Sadly, I am sure that video has already been buried along with the shovel.

Can anyone also clarify what happened on the Mayo PI call? They never showed a replay of that on NBC...

I'll get a good look at everything when I can. Feel free to list more plays that you want me to look at.

And if anyone knows of any free, decent video capturing tools for a Mac, let me know and I'll make videos.
(Emphasis on usable. Have tried two so far, both gave me like 4 frames per second)
