What would you think of New England trading one of their 1st round picks for say lance Briggs or Thomas? Both teams need help with their Offence and might and I mean just might make a trade. They could possible replace them with some one else on the team. Tell me what you think.

With two first round picks, the Pats have plenty of room to maneuver. The pats could get Briggs and still have a first round pick.

While it sounds great for us, I don't think (no, I know it won't) happen because you are trading a familiar commodity for an un proven one. It would be a slam dunk for us but a hail mary for the other team. It is always great to think 'what if' though.

    #24 Jersey

Either player has to be franchised first, a likelyhood for Briggs (I think) but not so much for Thomas.

Either way, Briggs would likely commant both a 1st and a 3rd, too steep a price for my liking, especially when there are a solid 8-10 day 1 linebacker prospects (Willis, Pozlunsky, Blades, Spencer, Woodley, etc).

Could you please explain to me how Chicago would trade a free agent who is not even signed with their team?

you don't give away first round picks like candy. there is no way i trade a #1 and then have to pay a huge salary.

the pats would be better served to use the big money to sign someone who is a free agent and use the two #1's are young talent.

keep in mind with a #1 pick you get a player for 4-5 years at cheap money.

given the pats track record they do well with their first round picks.

if we drafted like detroit i'd change my stance.

Only is they franchise but no way they trade the tag for only a #1. just not happening.

FYI to the thread starter. Briggs is a free agent. He can sign anywhere he wishes if he is not franchised.

here we go with trade scenarios again

lets trade 1 of our firsts for Anquan Boldin. Johnson can fill in @ #2 for them and t hey could use OL or D help with first rounder.

    ^sarcasm..wont happen.

Just think, we'll probably have an extra first rounder too from the Giants for compensation for Belichick and Pioli. :)

At this point in time, any team that wants Belichick should have to pony up every first-rounder they get for the next decade. At a minimum.

I don't know about giving up draft picks but I am ready to make Briggs or Thomas one of the top 5 paid players at their positions in the league.

I hope the Patriots go after these guys hard. Belichick likes proven and experienced linebackers and both these guys are bigtime players. The linebacker position is to difficult in the Patriots system to risk a #1 pick on a LB. It is a huge position of need, and the Patriots are way under the salary cap (even more so than others even with the salary cap bump up next year)

I would spend my number 1 draft picks on DB's as Samuel is probably gone and Rodney isn't far from retirement.

What the heck is that supposed to mean? If the Pats could play a game on the moon next year would you have them do it? Give me a break. Please at least have some football knowledge before you post, or even ask if it would be possible. Nothing wrong with not knowing an answer, but "would you do it if it were possible?" Give me a break.

Not to mention the title of the thread is "A possible trade scenario" when it's not even possible.
