I think we should take the lesson we are seeing in the first Thanksgiving Day game. Can you image the hand wringing if the Patriots pass defense had allowed over 240 yds and 21 points in just one HALF. Well folks its NOT the Pats D, but the vaunted Texan D who is the victim..... AGAIN.

Listen it is HARD to defend today's passing game....anyone's passing game. Even a team who is currently "just" 4-6. Interesting that the mediots are trying to explain the defensive lapse on the fact that the Texans don't have their starting CB today. But no one ever gave the Pats any excuses for missing BOTH their safeties and losing Dowling during the last Jets game game.

I'm not saying that this justifies the failings of our defense but just pointing out that even the so call "good" defenses can get ripped to shreds, and we shouldn't beat our breasts like mourners whenever someone completes a pass, and act like we are the only fans who have to endure this kind of pain. Look around. Its happening a lot these days

Texans and 49ers have a had a few big hiccups this year but people just seem to write it off. I'm more than confident pats will beat both.

As I noted earlier today on another thread, the Texans vaunted defense didn't do particularly well earlier this year against Peyton Manning, and Aaron Rodgers shredded them for 6 TDs and 42 points. Based on those games and their performance so far against Detroit, I'd say the Pats offense should be able to move the ball fairly well when the Texans come to town.

Didn't both Ponder and Bradford do well against them?

Didn't the FREAKING JAGS put a Thirty Burger on that D last weekend - - in their OWN house?????

It's worse than that. One would normally laugh hard that it was against a Blaine Gabbert led team - - but Gabbert got hurt early - - the guy who did it was the legend who LOST OUT to Gabbert in TC!!!!!!

For the most part pretty much true of almost every qb. Even Brady has a hard time doing much if he gets sacked a million times.

Rodgers shredded them, but Peyton Manning looked like **** through 3 quarters against Houston. I watched that game, and at least 5 of his passes were dropped by Texans defenders, and he also had his most incompletions in a game, ever. He got a few TD drives when the game was out of reach to make his numbers look pretty, but the Broncos couldn't get ANYTHING going on offense when the game was in doubt.

I don't know if there's a defense in the history of the NFL that you can say plays perfect 16 out of 16 games. The Texans D has had a couple bad games, that's it. And give their D credit, when the game was on the line they made MULTIPLE clutch stops. In the 4th quarter alone I can recall 2 stops when they were down 7 and needed to prevent it from becoming a 2 score game, 1 stop when the game was tied at the end of regulation, and multiple stops in OT. Please don't tell me you'd have full confidence in our defense to do the same in that situation lol.

One play especially stuck out in my memory, on a 3rd down deep route to Calvin Johnson. It was him and Manning going for the ball, Manning made an amazing play to break it up. All I could think of was wow if only we had a corner half as capable. In the same situation we couldn't defend Jacoby freaking Jones, this is Megatron we're talking about.

Now, if this has all really changed with Talib and Dennard, I'll be glad if they can turn things around and make this post moot, but that all remains to be seen. But cmon guys, the Texans are 10 and freaking 1, against probably a tougher schedule than ours. Some of the things I read on here are like what I used to read from Pats haters about the 2007 Patriots because they had a few less than dominating wins against teams like Bmore/Philly and all of a sudden they're overrated and vulnerable. The record don't lie, until proven otherwise they are the best team in the league. And no, I'm not in any way comparing them to the 2007 Patriots that's just the vibe I get from these comments. Give credit where it's due

They weren't vulnerable late in 07? Last I checked, Brady still only had 3 rings.

Houston had to get extremely lucky several times to win these last 2 games. It really was an amazing streak of luck that allowed it to happen. Everything had to go perfectly. They should have lost them both. The actual result of regular season games when a playoff spot is not on the line doesn't really matter. What matters is how the team plays. Texas is not playing well. Momentum means so much. The Patriots (including the defense) are on the upswing, and Houston is struggling badly and trending downward.

If the Patriots played the Texans next week the Patriots would roll over them.

    Baloney.

Their last two in a row (bad momentum there) were horrible.

37 points in their own house to Blaine Gabbart's BACKUP???????

31 points to the Lions today.

Then there were the 42 they gave up to the Packers.

Since they lost Brian Cushing, that D has given up 30+ points in 2 of the last 6 games.

They're still tops or top 5 in PPG. Every defense has a bad outing now and then especially in today's NFL. The difference is you don't see them getting lit up week after week. Overall the #'s say they're still one of the more reliable D's.

That's the point, EVERY team is vulnerable to some extent. The fact is that they're 10-1. And we weren't incredibly lucky down the stretch of that Ravens game with them calling TO's to negate a missed 4th down and the borderling holding call on another 4th down. Teams get lucky/unlucky in the end it balances out, we don't see/acknowledge the breaks that go against them like alot of people dont see/acknowledge stuff that goes against us. They're 10-1.

Their last 2 in a row were 30+.

    That's bad momentum.

Not to mention when the hell does the Jacksonville Freaking Jaguars EVER score 37 in someone else's house??????

When was the last time the "pathetic" New England D ever gave up 30+ points in back to back games????

If it keeps up then sure but as it is NOW they've had a few poor performances (which as I said it's hard to find a defense in the history of the game that hasn't given up a couple 30+ PA outings in a season) and currently top 5 PA, could be as high as #2 depending on who gives up how many PTS this weekend. I'm just tired of everytime an actual good defense has a poor outing we're supposed to think that our D is okay. No, I'll feel our defense is okay when they play more consistent football and prove that they can actually make stops down the stretch like the Texans did today. They made at least 5 clutch stops in 4th quarter/OT when the Lions could have won the game, feel free to point out the last time our D has made that many clutch stops with the game on the line but I can think of maybe the 2010 Ravens game, that's about it. And this was one of Houston's bad outings.

Now in the fourth quarter with yet another Jets turnover leading to a touchdown, I think my current perspective is somewhat similar to the perspective of the Harlem Globetrotters when they play the Washington Generals (which, I think might be Wrecks' next coaching job)
