Speaking of TiVo. I got a TiVo and HDTV early on in 2001. Pats are in the playoffs vs the Raiders and my wife informs me that we have a 6 months pre-scheduled dinner date with good neighbors who'd moved away. I decided to go since I wanted to be with a woman in that way again before dying. Being Brits, they had no interest in football. I set the TiVo and drove out to dinner despite the bad snowstorm. Despite their Americanized 10 yr old son watching the game in another room I kept myself away from the TV but did hear that it was in the 2nd half and the Pats were down by 10 or something. Drove home thru the wicked snowstorm and yes, I went to bed figuring I'd get rest and watch it start to finish in the morning not knowing the outcome. I'm sleeping, the phone rings and my new son-in-law, an MIT guy who'd never followed football before meeting my daughter the Patriots fan is screaming, "They won! They WON!!!" Obviously I went downstairs cranked up the TiVo and watched the game and postgame late into the early morning hours.
