Yes, yes, everybody wants to win the Super Bowl.

However, each season 31 teams don't, and those teams need to evaluate their season, and determine whether they were successful according to their own criteria, and whether the team is headed in the right direction toward winning a Super Bowl.

This year's Pats team won 13 regular season games, and was the top seed in the AFC.

They got the one-and-done playoff monkey off their back.

They made it to the Super Bowl and came within 57 SECONDS of winning.

From my viewpoint, as a fan, they had a successful season. :)

I am disappointed with the outcome, but anytime you are playing for the Super Bowl and the game comes down to the final seconds you had a successful season.

    Greetings,
Looking at this team objectively at the start of the season I had them winning the AFC East and a wild card game then bowing out in the second round. A lot of it had to do with the uncertainty of the defense, I thought they were going to give up even more points than they actually did this season. I know the d had their problems this year, but the off season acquisitions of Carter and Anderson really saved this defense a lot. All in all this season was a success and BB coached this defense better than the talent they had.

There is no question this was a successful season. Look how far they came as defense. We are so spoiled as fans its almost laughable. 10 seasons and nothing worse than a 9-7 season to show for it. 2 if not 3 more Super Bowls more than any team not named Pittsburgh or the Giants in that span. You want to go Johnny come lately go ahead. 14-2 14-2 13-3. Super bowl or not that is %^&*n impressive. Oh yeah, in rebuilding mode which still isn't completed yet, but I bet it will be a lot closer next season and the one after that through the draft and free agency. 13-3 with this group of players? You haven't seen nothing yet.

Some of you younger fans don't even know what rebuilding means. This organization has shielded you from this term. The Colts are about to find out and as impressive as their run was it came to a screeching halt. Detroit and New Orleans were in rebuilding mode for 30 years up until recently.

This super bowl loss hurts, they all do. But I live in good faith that they are going back because of who the operates the organization as well as the players in it. In my opinion they will be back in 1 to 2 years because this rebuilding project isn't quite done yet. 4 picks in the 1st 2 rds as well as a free agent wr is enough to fix this team a lot quicker than you think.

Any way, screw the haters. This is the price of success and you should embrace them. My lord, 5 superbowls in 11 years. The jealousy spews from their chops because the Pats are so successful it drives them insane. Again for now on I've made a pact to embrace the hate. We are the dark side. The MFY of the NFL. We will strike back with a fury and imprison these mediots and other fans with the Patriot Way where there is no escape. I predict 2 more super bowl for Brady and Belichick before this is done.

season to remember, ending to forget. A bad ending doesn't change what they did this season but we have unfinished business going into next season. I give them an I for Incomplete this year;)

I firmly believe we were sunk by the Gronkle ... a healthy Gronk and we're celebrating today.

Probably more than any other Patriot team since BB took over, the 2011 Pats were able to benefit from having a strong team organization. In a year where there was no dominant AFC team, a team that is well run and consistently good wen't into a playoff season that was wide open for any team that was playing well and peaking at the right time. The 2011 Patriots were that team.

They were a play or two away from stealing a championship with hard work, and a front office that makes good decisions.

    It's hard to say...
I suppose it could be considered a success. I do consider the team still in a state of rebuilding...
But it's tough to go to the Superbowl against the Giants again and lose.
I feel really bad for Tom and Belichick because in my heart of hearts I feel like they're superior players and coaches to Manning and Coughlin yet they have us 2-0 on luck in the Superbowl. At least in 2007 everyone considered it a fluke whether they were happy we lost or not.

Now it just feels like a black mark on our organization.

    It's a tough loss...

their season was more succesful than 30 other teams and less succesful than 1

so it was a success, but some people consider anything less than a superbowl win, a failure

Nicely said, after a slow start, this team exceeded my expectations..

There are 30 other teams who envy our success...

While that is true, those 30 other teams and fans will still find a way to prove that we cheated, played dirty or disrespected their fan base and team in some way.

We will never win that battle.

I do see this season being a successful one though. We made it to the big game, that tells you something about a teams toughness.

    Can't wait till next season.

Just the fact that James Harrison interrupted his off-season to point out how deeply he's affected by the Pats points to a successful season. This guy's team has to play Baltimore two times a year and he still hates us more.

I still have too many memories of "The Patsies" to take any of the Kraft era for granted. In the years 1971 - 1991 (modern NFL Draft - year Kraft bought Pats) The Boston, Massachusets, New England Patriots had the FIRST pick in the draft FOUR TIMES - WORST RECORD IN THE NFL. Jim Plunkett, Kenneth Sims, Irving Fryer, Drew Bledsoe.

Plenty of embarrasing years in between.

It seemed a little unfair we had to play Dallas since we obviously didn't stand a chance against such a perennial powerhouse. Maybe that has something to do with the Pats being hated in other cities.

I had moved from RI to Kansas City until the Pats were in the 1985 SB & got crushed by Chicago. I thought "What the hell am I doing in KC when the Pats are in the Super Bowl." We moved back.

Thank God for what Kraft has brought to New England & enjoy this incredible run we're on, even if we came up a little short in the Super Bowl.

Of course it was a success. 13 and 3 with a young rebuilding defense and you make the Super Bowl you've had a great year.
The Patriots will be back in another SB during the BB/TB years.

Obviously not a total success. But a better year than 30 other teams. We got to closely follow, and have hope, for our team up until early February. Most NFL fans had packed it in by Christmas. Some even earlier than that. And all from a team that had a patchwork D-backfield, a D-line with a 7th rounder and UDFA starting by the postseason and was down to it's 3 and 4th string Center at points during the year.

Yeah, we lost the Superbowl. And it's going to leave a lasting mark on at least a few player's and coach's legacies. But at least we ain't the cluster(bleep) that is the Colts.

YES! We got to the fudging superbowl!!

You've seen Tom & Jerry, Laurel & Hardy, Cannon & Ball and now GRONK & BRADY. I mean 17 receiving touchdowns and 1327 receiving yards...figures to make any fan wet their pants!

Great season, where we can build upon.. expect greater things next season :rocker:
