I was searching for something and this thought came to mind. A poll would not be proper here. Perhaps when we're done we can come up with a formula to tabulate the answers.

I'm going to miss a few here but I wanted to get the thread moving:

    1: John Hannah

    2: Corey Dillon

    3: Rodney Harrison

    4: Nick Buoniconti

    5: Tim Fox

    6: Ted Bruschi

    7: Wes Welker

    8: Steve Nelson

    9: Vince Wilfork

    10: Jim Nance

add more if you wish ... I'm sure I made a few errors but it's a tough selection. :D

With all of his "secret" injuries that require surgeries after seemingly every season, including a hernia, I'd put Brady on that list.

    Seymour was a tough bastard.

    Adam V, mentally tough.

Bledose was alot tougher than he gets credit for.

Being a long distance fan, I'm ignorant of whatever flaws there might have been to disqualify him from this list, but there'll always be a warm place in my heart for Tim Goad. He played big for a small NT, and I loved his hustle and personality.

Probably will get flamed for this but...Ellis Hobbs played injured quite a lot from what I can recall and it shortened his career.

    Take cover, friend ;)

Many of us here did think Hobbs was a serviceable 3rd / nickle CB, I'll even go on a limb and say that he wasn't even a bad #2 CB. Where he looked bad was his last year here as a #1 CB, but we still appreciated his kick returning skills etc.

I'll never forget his 06 AFCCG game vs Indy (the 2nd hardest playoff loss for me) when he had 220 yards in kick returns. To be honest, I even was somewhat upset when we traded him for two 5th rd picks.

With that nice little trip down memory lane, I would NOT put him as one of the all-time toughest Patriots, but you are right, he did play hurt at times. Hell, he's got my respect, and I think he got a bad rap here, but I don't think too many will agree that he was necessarily 'tough.' I do respect your opinion though.

Didn't Bledsoe play with a pin sticking out of his finger, and didn't he want to start after he almost had his lungs crushed?? This may move him up a notch.

Bledsoe was extremely tough and strong, he was just immobile. can't forget the broken finger drives (which i forget exactly when).

He would often collect two or three pass rushers with his left arm/shoulder and throw with his right..

That was vs Buffalo in 1997 or 1998 when they won at the last second after Drew ignored Petey's timeout signal, if I remember correctly.

I agree with Joker, Steve Grogan is #1 on the list, the rest fall after him, and Brady, despite his image to non Patriots fans is as tough as they come, he wouldnt miss a game unless his right arm fell off and even then he would probably want to play and throw lefty.

He actually went back into the game after he began internally bleeding against the Jets in '01. Guy was very tough. I was young when the whole finger-pin thing happened against the Bills in '98, but I'll never forget it. For all of the injuries Bledsoe took, he was extremely tough, and has got to be on that list somewhere.

Drew Bledsoe was far from a perfect quarterback (although he was pretty darn good), but his toughness was one thing that made me love him.

I thinking starting was medically out the following week but I believe he either wanted to or did go back in after the hit occurred and didnt rush tp the hospital until adter the game.

I would think Drew would have to be on the List. Tom too he has played thru some tough injuries. This list is way to hard to come up with like 50 guys belong.

    Andruzzi
    Mankins

    Tippett

I can't put a single player in the #1 spot. I have to give it as a tie between Grogan and Hannah. Those two are so tough that I can't honestly rate one higher than the other.

After that, I'd happily talk everyone else, including Brady. I'd have to list Troy Brown too, and certainly Bledsoe, Rodney and Dillon.

    Disable Jersey

    List omits such notables as...

Ike Forte, known as "The Crab" as this contact averse RB scuttled to the sidelines and out of bounds play after play

Dave Scalcheski (sp?) BB's 3rd round pick at TE who wimped out after one day of training camp

Draftee "Football Phil" Olsen deserves some mention
