they did something no other team had ever even come close to: winning their conference championship 4 straight years. it's actually more unique than a perfect "regular" season. and they're remembered as losers. that same fate awaits us if we lose post-season
just 1 post-season loss makes it all for nothing. we'd be remembered as paper tigers

Who is this "we" you talk about? They did it, not we. We didn't do ****. We're not the team, we're just the unwieldy cackle that dogs them at every turn. We are a the biggest bunch of overwrought keyboard paper tigers in the league. That is why other fan bases can't stand us, let alone our team, because they would kill to experience what we are experiencing - not to mention have experienced for several seasons now. And here there is always some ingrate looking to piss in the cereal. Even BB acknowledges the accomplishments and allows that they should be savored however briefly while never losing sight of the ultimate prize.
A collection of debbie downers mixed in with a bunch of nancy's nervouses apparently sprinkled none to liberally with a dash of happy homers who want to enjoy an historic moment for a freakin' moment because unlike the rest of you we CAN chew gum and walk...
Crappy kneejerk bandwaggon fans. I wish Ian had a message board cap to operate under so we could cut a bunch of you overvalued non performers who add nothing but wet blanket negativity to the fan experience.
all i know is i am basking in the glory that is the patriots.
I don't know, this complaint seems very reasonable to me.
What happens next year when we try and defend our perfect season?
What if we lose a game?
We'd be the only team in history to unsuccessfully defend a 16-0 regular season.
Thats the type of embarrassment that I, personally, can well do without
I'm glad you brought this up. It's not like we have two full weeks to examine the negative, so we shouldn't enjoy a friggin' 16-0 season for more than twelve hours. They happen all the time.
You guys don't like what the coach said after the game?
See, you always want to control the flow of sentiment and exchange of data. That is what you are really all about. You can't even allow people to say what they are thinking without laying some guilt trip on them that you want to celebrate. So go celebrate. Who is stopping you? Leave the thread alone if you don't like it.
The OP has a point, and it's a valid point, and it's the truth, and it was stated by everybody from Bill Belichick after the game to Bob Kuchinberg. Gee, do you think it's a valid thing to say?
Or are we supposed to act like fricking cheer leaders in order to satisfy your grumpy little man?
You are the gumpies, let me tell you. You are Mercury Morris in a Patriots suit. You can't spell the word "relevant", as in relevant point.
You want to celebrate? Fine, who is stopping you? Are we preventing your perfect little world by exchanging ideas that aren't celebratory? Well look at it this way: We're smarter than you and better than you because WE'VE MOVED ON.
We've already slept on this 16-0 thing, and guess what? It's not that big a deal. It's the regular season, dude. It's like pre-season, and quite frankly I don't give a crap if you don't get that and can't get your feet out of your celebratory cement today.
I'm moving on and I'm discussing things to do with the regular season but I'm not BLOCKING OUT talk of the post-season.
Good for the OP who reminded us that we are FAR FROM PERFECT.
Oh, the blasphemy of repeating what the coach said. And now you'll say, "But we're not the coach" as if that negates the obvious, in your face truth. Truth is, and you are not.

BB - "In the meantime we are going to take a little bit of time and enjoy this one and feel good about what we have accomplished. Pretty soon we are going to have to turn the page and move on, but I am happy for the players to win and I know we have set a lot of individual records and so fourth and so on, so without getting into all of that individually I would like to thank all those players for their individual accomplishments and for their collective accomplishments."
