If Jimmy Looks a Franchise QB, Would You Trade Brady?

So I heard the OP was going at it with this gal he has known for 17 years. This gal was not only the best he has ever had but the best anyone has ever had but just before climax he pulls out and says, "geez...I wonder what that Brunette would be like?

"What's wrong honey? ..... I was only asking a question "

Just looking for the place where I said I wanted to trade Brady and roll the dice....will get back to you when I find that quote (nine disagree's on a QUESTION, not a statement. My word)

It's kind of amazing isn't it?

Sure. Trade him to the JEST. See how you like that look.

Jesus people. If he's at the edge of the cliff, fine. Could be this year, could be 5 years. But er, if JG has 4 good games? Derr.

Just really give the young kid a chance. As really Brady will be back after September. Just root for Jimmy G as he is going to still sit and learn until TB retires.

OK, I will find that thread...seems I stepped on a minefield.

Thankfully Ian 'liked' my comment and didn't take it personally. This is an excellent site and the admin do a great job. I was just a bit taken aback and saw the post as a 'who let the cretin out of the funny farm' moment, when even if I am early, succession, when it happens, and how it happens are legitimate questions. Seems I may have been touchy.

You also make a compelling argument he can stay longer than I presumed. If that is the case, then this isn't an argument for today. Mine was a more general 'he is 39, he isn't likely to get younger, is now the time to think?'

Looking for a dispassionate look at life without Brady at the moment of all times was maybe naive, but all done out of love for the team :)

You've taken far too much grief for questioning what the Pats should do if JG is an elite franchise QB and leads the team to a 4-0 start. It's a great question and not a claim that Brady should be traded.

I think when Brady finally does retire, and the Pats get another QB in here, reality will set in quickly and we will see just how great he was.

I know there's been a ton of athletes that don't know how or when to walk away at the right moment but I trust TB to do what's right for the team. He always has, he always will.

More likely would be following your insane thoughts and the Jets pound us because they snapped up Brady in five nanoseconds and destroy us with him. I would rather gracefully walk to the finish with Brady than see him in a Jets uniform.

Tom Brady will never even think about playing for the Jets. That's far more insane than anything the Brit has had to say in this thread.

I was wondering who it was that took this thread down to the Jets toilet. Now I know.

Thanks...i'm glad you get the point to the letter. Maybe due to history, and the current circumstances people got jumpy. I too thought it was a fine question!

We can all agree that TB12 is a legend though!

I was at training camp on Friday, August 8 and this thread should be shut down. Garoppolo isn't close. Overthrows, underthrows, interceptions. Take your pick.

Belichick got up in his grill about two-thirds of the way through practice for an extended talk with Josh right there. After practice was over and the OL was signing for the kids, Belichick was over on the far field with Brady and Garoppolo, and it looked like some serious teaching was under way before Brady and Garoppolo played drop in the bucket. Garoppolo sucked at that, too.

The new guy? Brissett did not take a snap in 11-on-11s.

There were a couple of flashes. Garoppolo threw an outstanding pass to Gronk on the sideline early on that was thrown right through excellent coverage by Richards.

Bottom line, ladies and gentlemen. 2-2 in the first four games will be an accomplishment unless the defense puts points on the board. Pressure's on.
There simply is just no way you can conclude "Garoppolo isn't close" from observing one training camp practice as a layman. I've seen him look consistently sharp during 11-on-11 drills in practices myself and understand that at his experience level, this is a progressive continuum of honing timing and decision-making. What matters more than anything right now are (1) the kid's mechanics, which are superb; (2) his capacity to process information; and (3) his desire to get the job done. Reps, reps and more reps with the first team are what it's about and he has had precious little of that. I have no doubt that with time, he can be damn good if not great. His quick release is something special.

Someone who "isn't close" is Brissett, which is to be expected. I'll be waiting to see if a veteran backup QB is brought in for those first four games.

Hasn't BB already answered this question?

I love TB12, and god knows I dread the day he leaves us. But that said, father time is undefeated, and as mentioned earlier in the thread, emotional attachment aside...it's not a crazy question. I don't think they will, im just saying that the guys take isn't absurd.

I'd actually be quite disappointed in Bill if he WERENT considering every option available. That's part of what makes him such a great coach and allows him to field a legitimate contender for us year in and year out.

Now, all that said... I don't think Jimmy is the one who will supplant Tom. From what I've seen so far in camp (which I know means a whole lot of nothing), Tommy is without a doubt the best QB on the field, and the contrast is glaring. I mean, it's not even close, he's just on a whole different level and it's VERY evident just by looking at them.

Jimmy will get his audition over the next couple of months, and of coarse im rooting for him to light it up... But that said, I cant imagine there is anything he could do that would lead to him supplanting Brady.

Best case scenario, we can flip him for a high draft pick, and im just fine with that.

What people don't know is that the Brit used to be a U.S. citizen. Unfortunately he woke up one day and thought "I wonder what it would be like to live on an island ?"

"Wait guys, I was only asking a question "

In season, um, Don't bogart that joint.
After the season if Brady looks like Peyton in his last year, if Garapolo looks god and it doesn't appear to be just a lack of tape for opposing DCs, if Brady insists on playing, if Brady has a nagging injury, if Gisele comes to me at night so I'll use my influence with Belichick so Brady will retire or move to L.A. or whatever.

If all that, I'd consider offers.

We'll find out exactly how legendary TB12 is as soon as he's gone.

The thread is up to 10 pages and counting. It was a great question.
