What the hell was that "give us time to officiate" thing?

Besides giving the Chiefs time to decide whether not they wanted to throw the challenge flag that is?

Offense has to wait until the refs are in position, and give the ready-to-play signal.

That was definitely a weird moment. On the whole, a decently officiated game by NFL standards. For the most part they stayed out of the way, which is good for us.

I think that was his fumble-mouth version of "NE snapped the ball before the officials were in position."

Green Bay got away with this last week on the 12 men on the field penalty vs Washington.

I was wondering if it was time for the folks in NY to rule since they are looking at and in cases over riding calls.

I think he was saying that the officials hasn't gotten into position.

That was my interpretation too. Seems a bit weird, since we see teams rush to the line all the time to get a play off, but something must have been different here. My guess is that the conversation the two officials had on the sideline at the place of the catch dragged on a bit, and led to one of them (likely the one downfield) not getting into position on time.

It's weird, on one hand I want to agree since for the most part the refs let the players play. I'm usually very much in support of that.

But the combination of the Chiefs' RT holding blatantly on every play and Edelman not getting one of the most obvious PI calls I've ever seen did leave me feeling down on the officiating anyway.

I'm glad the Pats didn't let the game be close enough for them to swing it.

This occurred following a play where the side judge and the back judge had a little conversation about whether or not it was a catch. It looked like a catch and was called a catch, but they still wanted to confirm things with each other.

They finally agreed it was a catch, but then yes, the refs weren't able to get into position.

EDIT: I didn't see BradyFTW's post above until after making this one, but yes I agree with his interpretation.

Sounded like gibberish to me when I heard it live.

They were slow getting into position.

May no officials ever make a greater error than that.

Blandino needed enough time to see if it was a close enough play to overturn without there being a lot of controversy.

Kinda sorta joking. But not completely.

I'd agree, except how did they miss the blatant PI penalty that took a TD away from Edelman?

Sounded to me like they were discussing a call and hadn't finished before the play started.
