Is >>RUNNING<< Back a priority for next season?

YES. I have never liked Blount. He only gets going when the opponent gets tired. He runs right at the line almost every time for 1-2 yards. The one or two good games he has during a season is not worth the rest of the frustration that is him.

I think we are relying waaay too much on Roberts to pan out. But, to add to your point, I would be more than ok with an improved Coleman (he was playing ok) and, more importantly, Terrel Brown, who was doing a good job as our number 2 CB before he went down, as our number 3.
Brown has had some injury problems, and isn't young any more. I would be surprised if he has an impact for our D next year.

Barkley from Penn State please

Here is a list of 2016 free agents

James Starks is a name that interests me.

We know the Patriots are not going to pay top dollar for a running back.

We will probably end up drafting a RB, but Starks may be a good fit for a guy who probably won't break the bank.

With the emergence of Butler and Ryan as a great 1,2 CB combo (so far), all our best players under contract for at least one more season, don't you guys feel that our biggest need is a "running, RB"?

Blount is ok-ish, but he simply takes too much time to get into rhythm in any given play. He takes waay too long to hit the holes and has no outside speed at all.

White is the definition of a JAG, IMO. Mediocre speed, strength, agility, motor and separation. Heck, even Bolden looked better as catching RB.

With a legitimate running threat, plus the absolute daredevil that is lewis, we could realibly run the ball and take some of the steam of Brady (who, let's not forget, is 38 years old)
I can go with a running back. While Blount is adequate we need someone that is more dynamic, not just a battering ram thats inconsistent from game to game.

Blount is not even a battering ram if there is no Hole there is no Blount...he couldn't even get us three yards consistently. That's why I couldn't fantom why we got rid of Jonas Gray atleast he alway moved forward.

Blount tends to pitter patter near the line of scrimmage too much.

Blount plans to do a duo with Maroney on dancing with the stars...let him keep it up he will pitter patter himself off this Team soon enough.:D

I understand they are 10-1, and they can beat anyone when healthy. But without Lewis, the Pats lack a credible RB and it cost them a game last night. The reality is that Bolden is our best RB. When Blount is released, I predict his career will be over. Lewis is gone, and Edelman might return for the playoffs. Without passing targets, the problem is acute and may need to be addressed sooner rather than later.
Edit: Sooner.

CJ Anderson is a RFA & Hillman is a free agent.

I wish it was the other way because that dude can run on a wet field.

I would guess Anderson would get a 2nd round offer, which removes us.

I'd love to have Ezekiel Elliot but there's no way we could get him. Maybe if our first hadn't been stolen a trade up could have been feasible.

Honestly, RB are highly touted as once were. We could find a very good RB in FA and draft one in the middle rounds. I just hope to upgrade Blount, White and Bolden...

I remember that I had hoped for a trade up for Todd Gurley. Not taking anything away from Brown, and in the long run I know this was the right choice, but imagine a backfield with Gurley and Lewis? Insane

Id say an in between the tackles RB might be right now the #1 priority.

Fortunatly, you can get decent ones later in the draft or even UDFA.

Solder, Vollmer, Cannon, and Flemming are fine at tackle, and we really cant get much younger at CB. Blount is upgradable.
And inside RB will /never/ be Bill's #1 priority. It just won't.

Of the three, Bolden is the one I'd most like to keep.

Underrated player.

I agree. But because he is a good special teamer and, for the looks of it, better as catching threat than White.
Still don't like having him on offense

I don't want him as the lead RB, but I like him as part of the rotation, and we all know he is a gr8 ST player.

Without a 1st round pick maybe the Pats double dip at RB since RBs last longer than other positions.

I hope so, but we'll probably end up drafting a bunch of lineman and 3 TEs

We are dearth at the safety-who-really-plays-special-teams role.:p
