Tomlin is a bad coach

Of course you'll get no arguments here that Tomlin has major issues with clock management. It's almost inconceivable that an NFL head coach could be consistently this poor in one aspect of the game.

That said:

• 1) there are a ton of different aspects to coaching, and clock management is actually a very small part of that (even if it is one of the most visible to fans) and
• 2) the people in Pittsburgh who want Tomlin gone are the same ones calling for OC's and DC's to be fired after every loss, think the backup at every position is vastly superior to the starter in front of him, think the athletically-challenged 3rd string fullback is somehow the linchpin to the team's success, and generally seem to think that they as fans are all NFL executives-of-the-year in waiting.

I say the following with great respect: your fan base has been spoiled with BB as the head coach, Brady as the QB, and your front office. But coaches like BB and QBs like Tom Brady don't grow on trees, and most fanbases necessarily accept some imperfections with their coach/QB combo. It won't be long unfortunately until NE has to adjust to a post-BB, post-TB era, at which point your fanbase may also have to accept some similar imperfections, as GOAT-level coaches and quarterbacks are once-in-a-generation talents that are extremely rare and hard to find. I'm sure the older fans on this board (like myself) will understand when I say: enjoy these moments, and be grateful...this amazing run won't go on forever, and there are no guarantees regarding when this sort of thing will happen again.

Worst part about their 2 min drill is that they were still shuffling players to different spots on the field. That kills like 5-10 secs.

This is the beauty of the Patriots offensive approach. Each play is just a concept. It's hard cos each player needs to know all the assignments but super efficient in 2 min drill. By the way, Haley runs a west coast offense, I believe.

Tomlin took over a solid program with a top tier QB and highly proven DC in place. That's a nice starting point. But fair is fair, his record has enough years in the book to be able to conclude he has been successful.

With that said, his post game comments usually come from a leader who has a sense his effectiveness and strategy for victory is uncertain. You simply don't get up there and that loudly point fingers at a first half bad radio signal as why you lost a game like this. A leader does this because (A) he feels a lack of control of the direction and effectiveness of his team or (B) He was letting the heat of the battle do too much of the talking for him.
Given his latest comments about 'no excuses' and not doubling down on the silliness of radios, I assume the reason was heat of the battle ill advised words.

From what ive seen in pittsburgh its a talent issue mainly as they have lost the ability to draft concistently since cowher left other than at wr and bell. How much of that they attribute to the hc i dont know but they have been in a steady decline since tomlin took over. I believe theyve gone 4 seasons now without a playoff win, you probably have to go back to the end of chuck knoll's tenure to find that kind of mediocrity in pittsburh.

Speaking of all that i wonder why bill cowher has been out of football so long, he was an outstanding coach.
