Patriots "Actively" looking to trade for Big Bodied WR

Gordon's suspension is absurd. He had a drink on the plane when he thought his season was over.

That will cost him a year of his maybe 14-year career.

I was down on Gordon until I read his letter. I see no chance he comes to NE, but I hope the judge shoves his suspension up Go-to-hells ugly ass.
His letter turned me around as well.

Actually do think BB would be open to the idea. Who knows...

I would like to see how the letter describing his (Gordon's) discipline was written. For instance Troy Vincent's letter to Brady read " you are suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season" not "you are suspended for four games, beginning with the first four games of the 2015 season."
What's the difference? In the first scenario, you can argue that once those games were played, (under the decision even if overturned on appeal) he can't be suspended because he was suspended for those games and they have already been played according to the text of the letter. In the second scenario, it is four games whenever.
What if the Gordon's letter reads, "you may not have alcohol until the NFL season is over" referred to the NFL year (which I think is March) and a reasonable person could interpret that as " my team didn't make the playoffs, my season is over" as opposed to " you may not drink alcohol until the NFL season is over on March 31, 20xx."
Considering how much of a clusterf*^k the league office has been, I'm willing to bet there is lots of ambiguity in the letter.....

Not sure I buy the interest rumour. Presuming the interest is there due to LaFell being out ..... is it realistic to expect any new WR will be able to pick the offense up, gain Brady's trust and contribute before Lafell gets back? Based on what history has shown us, I would think not.
I am coming to this view as well. BB knew much more bout LaFell's injury all along than we do. It is news to us that he on PUP, but BB surely knew this possibility for a while. If he were going to trade for a keeper, it would be in the other team's interest to trade before they cut another player to keep a guy they were only going to trade. BB also knew for weeks that Wayne and Gibson were risks and Tyms' injury. He also has 2 guys on the PS who know the system. So I would be surprised if there is an impending trade. I think any truth behind the story is that BB is routinely exploring ways to upgrade his team.

Anyone have any interest in Jared Abbrederis? Doesn't have great athleticism or skills but is one of those smart does everything right types that BB tends to like. He was cut by the Packers yesterday.

How did they bag him for that? Are they taking hair samples? 1 drink would be out of your system in a few hours. Did they test him on the plane? Was he using a sobrietor?

Unrealistic target: Marvin Jones

The guy I am surprised no one has brought up is Chris Givens with the Rams - he had a big season a few years back, but now is behind guys like Tavon Austin, Quick, Britt, etc.

I think he could be had for a 6th rounder and would fill in for LaFell until he is healed. Givens, while not the biggest guy has legit speed. Thoughts on him?

Chris Givens is basically Tony Simmons or Bethel Johnson. He can run exactly one route - straight ahead. He's not a good football player.

You don't say eh? What does do that would impress the all-mighty Hoodie?

I'm ok with bringing in Abbrederis for a tryout, but he does have a history with concussions and just had one with Green Bay during their camp.
News of the concussion, however, brings into focus a problem explored by front office personnel at the NFL scouting combine in 2014. Executives in personnel from four teams told the Journal Sentinel at the time about what they believed to be a history of concussions for Abbrederis. Two scouts told the newspaper Abbrederis had suffered "three or four" concussions.

Marvin Jones is a big injury risk. He already missed the entire 2014 season due to injury. And his contract runs out after this year, so we could be getting only a 1 year rental. So we better not be giving up much, if that's who we are looking to bring in.

Interesting (and a little relieved) that there hasn't been much mention of Duron Carter. Has the size and athleticism but that's about it. Pretty sure the Patriots were one of the few teams that didn't show much interest in him.

So expect a Duron Carter signing in 5..4..3.......

I'd swap him for Dobson straight up and even throw in a little extra. But you are right to make the point about his contract. Off to start the 'Sign the Beast' thread now.

Would be happy taking fliers on Wilson and or Lewis, Brandon Coleman would be nice.
See BB this is why you draft a receiver instead of a undersized unathletic safety.
He's had much better luck signing known commodities versus drafting WR's. If Gibson didn't get hurt he probably would have made the club. Bill's drafted 1 WR before the 7th round that worked out (Branch '03) in 16 drafts here (jury is still out on Dobson).

I'm going to reserve judgement on Richards (if that's who you're referring to) seeing how he hasn't even played in a regular season game yet.

Who here wouldnt of rather had Sammie Coates than Jordan Richards I agree he seems like a solid player but we are deep at safety.
