Let me first say I never expect Kraft to take the NFL to court. I never thought he had that Al Davis rebel in him. I just also never thought he would cave in the manner he did. Everybody has a theory as to why it went down like it did. Mine is that once he got to the league meetings some of the owners laid it out to him that if he didn't call off the dogs then and there they would ostracize him. Judging by his press conference and how he waxed poetically about his first league meeting I think it's as solid of a theory as any other.
By capitulating in such quick order he's tipped his hand for all time. If you push all of your chips into the pot Bob's going to fold. So what you have is a league office still stacked against the Patriots. A set of owners who because of their inability to beat the Patriots continue to whine and seek ways to set them back. He should have stuck to his guns and at least petitioned the league to review and lessen the punishment.
By coming out day one of the Wells report and saying they wouldn't fight he showed his true nature and intentions. Then due to the backlash from NE fans and I'm sure behind the scenes from Tom Brady he realized he made a mistake and had to act. So he came out swinging and gave everybody false hope. Everybody thinks he made a deal behind the scenes. Personally I doubt it. I think the owners pushed and he didn't have the stomach to become a pariah to the other 31 which is more important to him than the fans or his players. I personally hope there's no deal so nobody can ever paint him as a martyr who helped save Tom. I think Tom will ultimately be vindicated without Bob's help.
Through all the foolhardy acquiescing, choosing the shield over the fans, money first, etc the thing that kills me the most his that he and Goodell hugged it out. Is it wrong that it makes me personally feel dirty that he would hug the guy who's screwed him twice? The NFL has conveniently used the Patriots as a scapegoat to cover up for all of their screw-ups regarding Rice, Peterson, etc. Goodell used Kraft to get his power and used him again to solidify it with the league. I just picture Michael Corleone kissing Fredo and telling him it's OK you can F me again when you get a chance. I could not be more disgusted. Next time Kensil, Goodell and the rest of the anti-Patriots league office screw his team over Robert can scratch his head and think wow I don't get it I've always given them what they wanted.
I don't want to hear how smart Robert Kraft is ever again. I don't want to hear how he's a fan of the team first. I don't want to hear how he's one of the best owners in all of sports. But I especially never again want to hear Robert Kraft is one of the most powerful owners in the NFL. What a crock of @#$%$. Paper tiger and cowardly lion.
I will never watch any NFL shows and especially NFLN or red zone or Sunday ticket. I will never watch a game Tom Brady isn't part of. Once Tom retires I'm done. Even though I know it's unrealistic I wish they would trade him to Houston or another franchise I don't despise and could get on board with. I will never go to any event at Gillette or be a patron at any of the Patriot Place establishments. You will not get a cent from me.
Sadly I won't be buying 3G2G4. I want to return my SB cap that's only a few months old. I won't buy from NFL sponsors. I've already switched from Gatorade to Powerade, etc.
All those good feelings from the past are gone. SB49 high, gone. I wish fans boycotted going to all the games at least without Brady if it comes to that.
I hope fans boo Kraft or chant COWARDDD.... and I hope he seeks out his good pal Roger to give him a shoulder to cry on. Hug it out again boys you deserve each other.
