Wow. I can't believe it. Of course my initial reaction was to just give up, renounce my fandomhood and move on. After watching the league take more and more fun out of the game each year, the Pats were the main reason I followed the game so closely as it was. But given that we were fans when idiots like Sullivan and Kiam were owners, it wouldn't make sense to give up on them now that our current owner, who excelled for 20, decided to sabotage those 20 years with one enormously bad decision.
Bob Kraft is dead to me. I will never by another ticket to any team he owns, I will no longer purchase any product that puts money in his pocket, not will I ever spend another dollar at Patriot Place. One of my favorite people in sports stabbed his coach, QB. players and EVERY fan this franchise has in the back in a move so craven and cowardly it boggles my mind.
What Kraft has done is worse than anything Goodell did to the Pats. Kraft had a responsibility to his players and fans and he reneged on that responsibility. What makes it so unbelievable is that he had a winnable position. The tide was turning. More and more the media was coming to conclusion we came to early on. The Welles Report was a flawed and biased investigation. For him to just concede is a MASSIVE betrayal.
So, if asked the direct question, am I still a Pats fan, I guess I'd have to respond yes. I suppose you can't erase over 50 years of fandom with one act. But they came pretty close. I certainly won't invest the time and effort to follow the team. I certainly won't be around here much, nor will I watch the results of this betrayal in the media.
Maybe the Red Sox will provide some fight this summer. All I know is I just freed up a lot of time I will have to fill.
