What compromise can you live with if the Pats are able to negotiate with the NFL?

For all those people saying Kraft should take nothing more than a low draft pick and no games lost for Brady... here is what I think happens if we try that.

The NFL says "no way we can't look that bad". Brady goes to court and wins and does not miss any games. The NFL stands by its punishment for the picks and the fine and now Goddell who will be commish for 3 more years at the least will have no issue doing whatever he can to punish the Patriots and make them look bad because they made him look foolish.

Someone explain to me why that won't happen if the Pats try to demand too much back? It is unfair yes but sometimes you must take a step back and make the decision in your best self interest than an emotional one that leads to worse consequences down the line and now.

Here is my completely unemotional and rational reply to your suggestion:

F.ck That!

we get: no fine, no loss of picks, no suspension, an apology for NFL leaks, the firing of the NFL leaker, a statement saying that we did nothing wrong

Goodell gets: to stay gainfully employed, for now (you've got to give them something, unfortunately)

Beat me to it. A deal with the Devil

I would rather see them go down in flames fighting than compromise. They can live with everything the league office threw at them, what they can't live with is acknowledging wrong doing. Fight it all the way and then work tirelessly to get Goodell and his sycophants fired.

I want that 1st round pick back.

The rule states they need to remain at or above 12.5 which they were not at half time because the nfl has a rule that doesnt take into account weather, or temperature, or real life. Complain all you want, but if you go by the letter of the rule book a rule WAS broken, its a stupid rule that's going to change.
That is not what the rule says. Read it again

Link?

So basically Goodell was angry that Kraft demanded an apology ....so then Kraft decided he would apologize instead and allow his team to be steamrolled by the public and league? Yup, it's all cool now
That hasn't happened that I've seen.

It should be nothing at all. At the very least they would need to apologize for a number of things, return our first round pick and totally overturn Brady's suspension.
I can live with the fine and loss of a 4th rounder though it is STILL BS. Even then it seems unrealistic.

Okay. If what is most important to you is giving the league as big and F you as you can that is understandable.

My thoughts are all the fans think we are cheaters anyway and the only team that "really" cheats. The Pats reputation for the short term at least is shot no matter what we do. May as well try to make the best deal we can cause in the court of public opinion this is already a loss. Even if Roger comes out today and says "Pats are 100% innocent" the fans won't buy it.

Anything less than overturning Brady's suspension, the return of the picks and vacating the $1 million fine is chicken ****.

Kraft is like someone in an abusive relationship. They get their face kicked in, and then as soon as the person doing the kicking shows even a shred of good will he's back to swooning again. I hope I'm wrong on that but the reports of hugs etc. should make all of us a little uneasy.

Well here is a silver lining. Goodell is very unlikely to be re-upped after 2019. So there is that : P

Hi SF pat, feel free to point out the part where it says the balls can be under 12.5 psi:

"The ball shall be made up of an inflated (12 1/2 to 13 1/2 pounds) urethane bladder enclosed in a pebble grained, leather case (natural tan color) without corrugations of any kind. It shall have the form of a prolate spheroid and the size and weight shall be: long axis, 11 to 11 1/4 inches; long circumference, 28 to 28 1/2 inches; short circumference, 21 to 21 1/4 inches; weight, 14 to 15 ounces."

Soon as the ball dropped below 12.5 it was an equipment violation.

Let's say Kraft did get something out of this. I think it is more likely that Tom's suspension is overturned. But if it is something like a reduction in the suspension...well then Pats fans should get their torches and pitchforks and March upon Foxboro.

I'm concerned about Kraft & Goodell being chummy again. Kraft needs to understand that Goodell can't be trusted. He is the enemy. Nothing good will come of this relationship for the Pats.

Regardless of their feelings about the Patriots I do not understand why any NFL owner feels that Roger Goodell is competent? The NFL makes billions because Americans love football, not because of anything Goodell has ever done. Roger Goodell has never done anything to make that product better or make money for the league. And when the league was at an impasse with the Players it wasn't Goodell who stepped in to save the day it was the owner he is currently assraping who saved the day. Beyond that every idea he has to "improve" the league in fact dilutes the product and will eventually destroy it. Goodell needs to go.

I hope Kraft is considering precedent in his calculation. He let the Patriots get steamrolled during Spygate with "full cooperation". This time he fights only to see the team get mistreated again. If leaks and media frenzy guides NFL policy, the slightest suggestion of wrongdoing will inevitably lead to pressure for investigation, biased findings and harsh penalties. When does it stop? Getting the NFL to reverse the "more probably than not" finding for team wrongdoing has got to be paramount.

Nowhere in there does it say "remain."

That seems quite open to interpretation given it specifies no specific temperature or point in time. I'm quite sure you can make a case either way for a rule worded this craptastically.
