Why were the Colts gauging a Patriots ball if it wasn't a sting?

Violation of the rules, we should all try to tweet this to reporters and get somebody to ask the NFL. Colts clearly broke the rules and it's in the Ted Wells report. There's nothing to debate about it.

Nobody gives a **** because it's the Patriots that are getting ****ed because of it. Tweet it until the cows come home and it really won't change a thing.

Yea, sadly you are probably right. If nothing else, will make the league look worst I guess. I just don't see how they can say that was okay when it's clearly a violation of the rules. It'd be funny as hell if Patriots filed a complaint about it.

Brady just needs to drag the league to court and get this process started. That's what will help the most. Kraft needs to continue to speak out publicly about this assclown that the league has running things, too.

It is not big deal to the NFL as it does not fit their narrative, nothing matters except to f...ck the Patriots, no one can be this good for this long.

This bothered me from the very beginning. It's a violation and if that's the proof that supposedly set this whole thing off then it's clearly tainted evidence.

Why did the Colts even have a gauge on the field? There is nothing they could do with it that would be permitted by the rules.

I have never "Tweeted" in my life and my goal is that I never "Tweet"....guess I'm like Belichick!

I hope someone finds this "Useful"!

because someone was obsessing........yes, there was a sting operation.......the only question is whether goodell knew about it or not (there is no right answer for that one)

goodell
gardi
kensil

all former jets employees.......which automatically tells you one if them will likely rat on the others

Correspondingly, Mike Kensil worked in the same role for the Jets for 28 years before moving to the league office. He was in New York for Bill Belichick's infamous "one day reign" over the team before departing for New England. Kensil was fired in 2006 by former Belichick assistant Eric Mangini (all of this was noted by CSNNE reporter Tom Curran in a January column). The obvious implication in noting the ties to the Jets was that Kensil hates the Patriots (or, specifically, Belichick).

"I do know that Kensil has been agitating about footballs for months with the Patriots" Curran told WEEI's Dennis & Callahan on Wednesday morning. "He has been asking around about possible football manipulation for months, leading into this. So, it's kind of his white whale." Curran did add context that he's always heard Kensil to be "a good man," for what it's worth.

Agree completely both need to treat the league office as though they are irrelevant, no compromises, see you in court.

What a distracted society we've become! People prefer to text rather than calling someone on the phone....ipads, smart-phones, tweets and soon, watches you can surf the internets with.

I read somewhere that the majority of office workers keep their phones by their side while they work so they don't "Miss anything"...what the heck is there to miss?! People go on a date and then text each other 10 minutes later....what ever happened to waiting until the next date so you have stuff to talk about? Well, maybe they go on dates and text while they're dating....crazy world.

Last week, I went on a customer call and forgot to bring my iphone. I realized it about 5 miles from my house. Did I feel compelled to go back and get it? Nope! It actually felt good that I realized I didn't need it.

Yeah I hear you man. It's really weird when people thank each other on myface instead of doing it in real life after somebody does them a favor. Then we have people saying happy mother's day on Facebook to their mother who doesn't have a Facebook...

the fights over man. if kraft came to a deal with the devil, then your fighting a war that your leader already surrendered, he just failed to tell you about it.

Sadness. Optimism that came with the new website has left - sadness of the rumoured hug has replaced it.

Colts violate the rules. They were just trying to maintain the integrity of the game.

Patriots allegedly violate same rule, no proof. Guilt of trying to commit genocide and destroy the entire world! Mass murderers, psychopaths who must be put down before they can do harm to it.

It's the only clear-cut, 100% violation of league rules that happened at the AFCCG, which I find to be hilarious.

But that aside, it sounds like everyone says 'yeah but it's a minor infraction, ultimately this is about the Pats cheating'....and yet everyone ignores that when the NFL officials gauged the football it averaged 11.53 PSI, which is either at the top of the high end of expected measurements (11.3-11.5) using the non-logo gauge or just below the low end (since the gauges were off about .3-.4 psi, so the 'corrected' measurement would have been 11.13-11.23).

In either case, that ball is pretty much right in line with expected measurements, especially if you figure it had been used in the game for a while so even the low measurement could be accounted for with extra wetness/expansion.

Ultimately, how could the Colts justify re-measuring if the difference in 'feel' is AT MOST .1-.2 psi from a 'regulation' football? THAT is what no one is talking about. First how it could have possibly felt low, and second the fact that it measured in range and therefore supports the contention that there was no deflation.

Ugh, I'm so sick of this story.

I am not sure if the Colts gauging the intercepted ball is a violation as that ball was not going to be returned to the field pf play. What I do find amusing is that anywhere from 3 - 6 of the Colt balls were found to be below acceptable levels when you look at the halftime and after game measurements. And Brady played the 2nd half with potentially all the Pats balls being inflated to over 13.5 psi.
