I was not talking about getting in a bidding war with the Jets... it's funny how it was BBs coo last year and now that he is on the Jets he is old and useless...Sure, and then had no chance to keep Jones, Hightower, Soldier etc...
Anyone who continues whining about Mevis obviously dosent really understand how a football team works.
Plus its probable he did not want to come back so saying they "could of" is ridiculous at this point. Perhaps being behind Brady and Gronk in popularity was too much for his ego.
Bottom line, NY gave him 39 million and $70 total. That is insane for someone his age. And again even if Revis might have stayed that means NE would have had to overbid that and who know how much the Jets would have continues to add to that contract to keep him of just drive up the price for the Pats.
So stop talking ****.

My point is that last year they could have locked him up with a long term contract similar to his salary last season.. Especially with the Jets blowing him off...(since everyone theorizes that is where he wanted to be... I don't see it).. Hell, their secondary went to **** when he left... who is our replacement??
Thanks for the kind words...
But when I say this is a transition year I am full of ****...Nope. They couldn't have signed him to a salary similar to what he got last season ($12M). And that's why he was initially willing to sign that 2-year contract, because it would have cost the Patriots $20M to retain him for the 2nd year (2015). Essentially he signed a $16M/year contract ($12M then $20M)....and that's what the Jets paid (in a longer-term contract) to pry him away. And the guaranteed money aspect ($39M) was outrageous. No way the Patriots do that, as it's essentially guaranteeing 3 years at $16M/year.
As fans we all wanted to keep Revis but we couldnt have done any of these front 7 upgrades if we had kept him and as you said he wanted to go back to NYSure, and then had no chance to keep Jones, Hightower, Soldier etc...

The 3rd-worst off-season story has been how this team has gone from having its best secondary
in a decade (which was, coincidentally?, the last time a SB was won) to having likely its worst
secondary in Bill's entire tenure.
Mevis' tampering-driven departure was inevitable, and I understand that; but if for nothing
other than continuity's sake, why not just keep Browner & Arrington, sign Fletcher if Bill must
(or better still Tarell Brown), and draft DJ Smith or PJ Williams in the 2nd round instead of the
exercrable Jordan Richards, who wasn't even the best DB available on his own feckin team?
It's way too early to be slotting this offseason, IMO, and you don't keep Browner if you're letting Revis go.
