NFLPA's official Brady appeal letter....Whoa!

Anyone notice that they address the letter as "Dear Troy" and not "Dear Mr. Vincent" ... talk about disrespect!
Major disrespect.

If what I have read is accurate about Vincent- taking bribes to promote agents, etc there is a lot of bad blood between he and the NFLPA.

I think we can all agree that it looks like the NFL will get an ass-kicking in court given the flimsiness of the Wells Report conclusions and the puppet-master role of Goodell in the whole thing. The wheels of justice move slowly, though, so the ass-kicking won’t be quick.

Especially since the NFL and Goodell decided to lead with their chin. It will take a while for the NFLPA legal team to move that far south

unfortunately for PA, it agreed to these terms - Goodell can decide appeals officer, not mutually agreed upon person

And that is the problem. There is absolutely nothing stopping Goodell from making the suspension official then making himself the arbitrator.

If Brady wants a fair playing field he has to be in court and by that time what would it matter anyway because he would have already served his suspension.

I still cannot belive the players allowed Goodell this much power in the CBA.

The "Very Truly Yours" was a nice touch at the end also.

I'm laughing at how Troy Vincent's Big Moment of Snarky Authority has passed like a fart in the wind. "Back to your cubicle, Troy. Oh, and please get me a coffee on the way. One cream."

Personally I dont think it was a sting by NFL . The colts notified the league which didnt take it seriously but the colts along with kensil also did their own sting . Once it all came out, the NFL tried covering up first by blandino saying they were unaware and then wells stating there was a letter to the league the day before and wells again in his presser messing up saying it was ignored.
Basically these guys are so disorganized even with their own stories that its pathetic.

I agree, but one could also say that the NFL...based on their own incompetence and their systematic efforts to cover up for others within their hierarchy...have simply backed their way into a sting, and the associated culpability. In a sense, they've argued themselves into a corner...and ignorance is not an excuse!

Brady ain't going down without getting a new pair of kicks for everyone.

Sure there is, its called the law.
The law will not uphold the giving away of a right in a collective bargaining agreement if it is egregious.

Plus Goodell violated the CBA by having Vincent issue the ruling. He did that because he wanted to hear the appeal, and judges have previously ruled he cannot be both.

That was the first thing I noticed, as well. By and large, every other reference to individuals by name uses Mr., Commissioner, Esquire. To me, it means one of two things: 1) he and Vincent have a good, working relationship, or 2) it's designed as a subtle whack of disrespect, as you suggest. I think either is possible, but I think your take is more likely.

Only Roger G could turn an entire fan base into Union Fans. I hope, if nothing else comes of this, that this witch hunt backfires on the owners and league in spades. The league and the owners have lost any respect that I gave them. My next Pats shirt is going to have the name on the back "NFLPA".

Too bad Shalise knows nothing about contract law. You can't negotiate away recourses that are available to you in law. This has been a key point in many of the negotiations I have been involved with (I'll let the lawyers further comment on this)

Edit - I see someone has already made this point

I noticed this as well...lol!

Just wanted to also point out how I was accused of wearing a tin foil hat in the past for suggesting that the league probably fixes games to suit their agenda. I feel that on numerous occasions, superbowls and playoff games were decided by perfectly timed "bad PI calls" or egregious non-calls and the like.

Anyone who didn't think the NFL would twist things to suit their agenda, should be waking up to smell the coffee right about now.

We most likely got screwed out of a superbowl or 2 (as well as the Seahawks in superbowl XL). Anyone remember when we were trying to win 3 in a row in 2005 and that joke of a game against an inferior Broncos team was lost because every other play we were hit with a PI that put the ball on our goal line. I remember jake plummer just lobbing it, uncatchable towards the goal line and laughing when he got his PI call.

He knew what was happening. No way the league wants a team winning 3 in a row during the salary cap era... or going undefeated after being "caught cheating" for that matter

I wonder if they want to get Goodell to testify because they have some inside information and they"re looking to get him to lie not only to get the suspension tossed but to get Fraudger tossed.

I still cannot believe the players allowed Goodell this much power in the CBA.

Except that he will be called as a witness in the proceedings. No way that he will still be allowed to be a witness in a matter that he is arbitrating. Well, he can....... but it offers the most egregious misstep that will allow the matter to be taken to the Federal court system.
