Any idea what his market price will be?

Easy Peasy. Glad he didn't throw a fit.

He has a good shot at being back for reasonable money. It's hard to give him incentives though as they'd be LTBE. So he'd be playing for some pretty short money.

Definitely sucks but I think there is a decent chance he ends up returning after testing the market.

Wording of his statement sounded like the Patriots are moving on but things can change, I guess. Regardless, what a way for him to go out.

The more I think about it, Browner unfortunately might be next. They wouldn't want to keep him and have to let Revis go.

We'll always have this:

Thanks for all the hard work, Vince!

Always curious to know what the back and forth was- if there was any.

Honestly I'd be surprised if there was any back and forth after what happened last time. It's much cleaner to just cut ties now, and then let him see whats out there, and once he sees his market talking to him and seeing if they can make it work.

Class act.

The danger is that some other team overpays him on strict football terms because they want to import a class act.

Classy letter, classy guy, awesome family.

And just in case #75 ever reads posts here, it's pretty clear that we're all speaking with one voice:
You'll always be a sports hero to Pats Nation, Big Vince, and here's hoping you can resign with the team.

ps. Your ability to come back from that Achilles injury was inspiring!

The Colts will be the first to call the big guy.
Stuff the run and take one of ours.
I'm hoping he retires but I could see going to Atlanta possibly Chicago who has a need at nose tackle.
This is bitter for me Vince was the definion of a Patriot but in the Not For Long League. Nobody has a guaranteed paycheck including number 12 one day.
This is what sets the Patriots apart they know when to cut ties for the good of the team and the spirit of winning.
This is the first of a series of moves I wouldn't be shocked to see Mayo released but think he restructures to stay.
Admendola and Arrington could get that call as well.
I know he just got paid but it wouldn't shock me if Nink was asked to restructure.
One of Revis or Mccourty is all but guaranteed to remain a Patriot both would be great but I will be thankful for one of them to be.
Vince you were amazing and gave your body and heart to this team you will forvef be remembered in a positive light and are definitely in the Patriot hall of fame and should have heavy consideration to the pro football of fame. Thank you for much from this Patriots fan.

Expected move for cap reasons but Vince was a great man and a great Patriot (he still could come back for cheap). This $8mill+ that we just saved from this move makes the possibility of keeping both DMAC and Revis WAYY more possible.

The greatest compliment you can say about a sports legend is that, however great a player he is, he seems like an even better person and family man.

THAT is Vince Wilfork.

Still holding out hope he returns to us but someone will probably pay him more than us.

You never know. BB let Troy Brown test the market. He received offers from the Saints and Jets and still came back here. I can happen.

Sounds like he left on good terms. I assume that the door is open- for a the right price.

The more I think about it, Browner unfortunately might be next. They wouldn't want to keep him and have to let Revis go.

The thing about Browner is that it's 9.6 million over the next two years with NO GUARANTEES.
They can rework him, tag on a year, and get the cap hit down, I expect. he really doesn't have a lot of leverage, unless he thinks he'll do better on the open market.
