2015 Draft Prospect Thread

Can anyone point me in the direction of some Ellis McCarthy vids? Draft Breakdown doesn't have anything for him specifically, and he doesn't really show up on Odighizuwa and Kendrick's vids. There seems to be a lot of talk about him, but I'll be damned if I can find anything on him.

Try searching for UCLA games at noonkick.com. There's plenty there.

Okay. One last attempt before the combine to get you interested in Ryan Delaire, in my view, one of the more underrated prospects in the draft.

A breakdown of his play:

And a thoroughly enjoyable watch:

You'll be hearing more about him after the combine I suspect.

WOW!. Delaire's speed in pursuit is straight out of a video game. Happily added to my day 3 binkie list! Wow, CAA producing some very interesting prospects this year. Another Towson kid getting some looks is Tye Smith, their CB. I haven't seen anything on him, so i can't really comment. Also, Sage Harold out of James Madison is another CAA guy getting looks.

You've been doing some research. Impressed. And Delaire is 'beast mode' at that level.

After watching some tape, I would take Todd Gurley at 32 if he's there. He looks like the next Le'Veon Bell/Matt Forte/Arian Foster type of dynamic back that is dominant both running the ball and catching passes.

I agree, I wouldn't really complain if they took him there. He truly is talented, so well rounded!

My only issue is, I'm not sure if we really need him. We seem to do fine with our RBBC approach. Not to mention, I personally have high hopes for Tyler Gaffney. I was really high on him coming out of Stanford, and thought he was extremely underrated. He might not be close to the kind of back as Gurley is, but he is perfect for our system in my eyes. Not to mention his catching is very underrated, and his hard nose style of football makes him a good blocker. I could actually see him filling Vereens role over James whites, and maybe even taking over main RB duties. I guess only time will tell.

As nice as it is having a back like Le'Veon Bell/Matt Forte/Arian Foster. It is very rare that RB's stay healthy due to the nature of their position. Marshawn is the rare exception. On top of that, none of those players cost their team a first round pick. I just don't like the thought of putting all your eggs (1st round pick) in one basket.

If Vereen goes and they don't resign Ridley and don't get another RB in FA like Chris Johnson or Spiller, then I would say they need him. I like Gaffney too but it's not practical to rely on a rookie coming off of IR.

I agree I usually wouldn't draft any RB in the 1st round no matter what, but at 32 it's not that big of a cost. And Gurley isn't just pretty good, he looks like he has the talent to be a top 5 back in the NFL.

Tell me a position in football there aint getting hurt from time to time.......

Kicker....

I can tell you the position that has the largest average of time missed, and shortest career span, and that's the RB position.

Im not saying He won't be a top 5 running back. I believe in 3 years IF he remains healthy, he will be a top 3 back, no doubt. The problem is, he's had injury problems, and he is coming off a ACL tear. I think him and Le'veon are almost identical players, the only difference which has created Gurleys draft stock to be much higher is, the fact that Gurley has done it in the SEC, which in reality, is a much harder division to run the football on.

I don't believe in veteran backs, so I want nothing to do with Chris Johnson or Spiller. The weakness of both the RB draft class, and the FA RB market this year, is the only reason I see Gurley being granted our 1st round pick. And trust me, Ive been quoted saying I think Gurley is one of the best backs to come out of college in the last 10 years. Thats considering purely talent alone. Unfortunately talent isn't the only thing you have to look at when you're looking for long term success.

I could see him being like 10th on our big board, and if everyone before him were already taken, then Id understand.

What are guys thoughts on Marcus Peters if he gets far enough to be in range of the Pats?

My thoughts are maybe in the 2nd. No way in the first. If the Pats needed a starting CB then maybe I could talk myself into taking his talent and BB straitening him out. With Revis/Browner/ect... Just seems like a headache we don't need.

I have been a fan of bringing in peters in the 2nd, given out strong character players in the secondary.

The problem being, it seems like the character concerns might be blown out of proportion and teams will likely take him much earlier than expected.

In a similar mindset, I wouldn't mind ifo ekpe in the second, knowing he can come along slowly and potentially help out if we run in to injuries in the second half of the season. I would also rather be proactive with the secondary and be prepared for maybe losing Arrington or browner a year from now.

If we bring back Revis for longer than two years then I don't want a CB in the first three rounds if at all. Maybe a Dennard replacement on day three.

Agreed. There are lots of big CBs who should be available on day 3 who could have some long term upside: Josh Shaw, Ladarius Gunter, Eric Rowe, Nick Marshall, Damian Swann, Byron Jones.

I'd love to see Swann in NE, what a steal he'll be, he'll definitely move up boars by then, so physical and athletic, has a lot of potential, I'm a huge Dennard fan but wouldn't mind seeing a younger, less troubled, better leader in Swann take over
