I know….Butler was devastated, but he actually made a good play. I feel like even if he didn't intercept the ball (which he could have if he had been thinking more quickly) Harmon should have attempted to bat or kick it out of bounds. Done anything other than make absolutely sure he was hurdling the receiver cleanly (although I understand why he did that as well….he was thinking he did not want to give up 15 yards!) Just a tough, ridiculously lucky play for Seattle.
Harmon should have jumped right in there and tried to take that ball away from Kearse. The ball was up for grabs and had already been tipped. Instead, he leaped for the heavens to avoid all contact, and the ball. Thankfully Butler saved the day two plays later.

I feel sorry for Arrington because he had a really good season but in the SB he got burnt badly, that face mask was stupid also.

That drive was a debacle, bad calls, stupid mistakes, bad awareness, bad strategy, bad communication. I don't understand, playing against Seattle with 31 seconds left you don't play prevent defense, you play normal. Everything came after a backup rushing for a big gain. You stop that play and the half is basically over. They played soft in the most important play of the drive.

Fortunattely small mistakes didn't cost us the SB this time. That won't happen again.

Arrington did have a good year and a sub-par at best SB. Cap casualty in 2015. Butler and maybe Dennard.

Ryan looked lost and a step behind everyone out there he was awful. Arrington is great vs slot guys and well was exposed against large Wrs. Good adjustment to Browner but really to late after the damage was done.

Gotta say I'm down on Ryan but I agree with the OP that the TD was on the coaching staff. Patricia failed to RESPECT THE CLOCK and realize that with 6 seconds, the percentage play was to risk fouling and give up a FG on a free play with 00:00 on the clock.
Ironic in that BB won the game when cheerleader Peety Carroll joined the celebration on the Kearse fluke reception and had to burn a time out leading to the decision to pass because an incomplete would stop the clock. Once again failure to RESPECT THE CLOCK led to downfall.

Great point on executing intentional penaltiies (that certainly would have prevented hte TD and killed the clock).

The real kicker on this drive was the run they allowed on the first play of the series (a big run by Turbin).

That was a classic "GIVE UP RUN" with the outside chance of it being a 'drive starter' if we execute the play well. Same thing happened to us in SB 38. We gave up a cheap 3 points at the end of the half there and worst yet, this one resulted in a 7 pt mistake. I'm sure glad we won so that I won't have to dwell on this all off season. It's FAR FAR much easier to rehash knowing we got the victory.

that draw play took them totally by suprise. they should of put browner on the foot locker guy a lot earlier.

Chris Jones was the other DT besides Wilfork on the Turbin run. Not only was he blocked by just one OLman, but he was moved completely off the LOS, which created the big hole to create the big gain.

I also wasn't impressed with Siliga, who was 1-on-1 blocked throughout the game, and who failed to
attempt to lunge at Lynch at the end.

Such performances make it imperative to keep Wilfork on the 2015 roster despite the cap hit

That whole drive was a travesty of epic proportions. This play was just the cherry on top, awful coaching and execution.

according to some reporter Browner asked DB coaches to put him on Chris Mathews, and that happened after half time break when Wilson threw another bomb to Mathews. That was some poor adjustment. Arrington is perfect for guys like Hilton, Welker, guys who are 5,10 and fast, but if a player is 6 inches taller, its hard to cover him, so i dont blame Arrington for bad coverage, its the coaching stuff not doing their job.

Ryan was 5 jards from mathews and Collins didnt tackle Wilson on that particular 31 seconds stupid drive.

I don't understand the posts that say we didn't game plan for Matthews. It should not have mattered who the receivers were. Tackle whoever it was at the LOS and take the defensive holding penalty to force a field goal.

@footballzebras said Harmon could have been flagged for hitting a defenseless receiver.

Obviously if you just go to hit Kearse then it could be a penalty. I'm saying Harmon should have dove after the ball. It was bouncing high enough in the air where he could have either leaned over on his way by or dove for it instead of leaping out of the way only to have Kearse catch it.

Has anyone ever seen PWP and Dikembe in a room at the same time??

Is it a penalty if kearse was still juggling the ball? Looking at the replay again, it looks like harmon was about to jump as the ball started to pop up.

You can't hit a "defenseless" receiver whether they have the ball or not.
