Wes Welker.

Many folks feel the Patriots gave to much for Welker. I love the pick, and look forward to having him on our team. He will become a fan favorite in short order. :)

I am excited about Thomas, Stallworth and Washington. But I love Welker :)

Welker = overrated like i said. i wouldnt mind him but a 2nd round pick? prove me wrong Wes nad Beioli..prove me wrong

Right, because our second round picks have been so good over the last few years. Welker is a proven nfl talent. There is a slim chance whoever we picked with the 60th would work out like Welker has the chance to.

There was that trade for C.Dillon.

Go ask the folks at Finheaven what they think of Welker.

I wish there was some Welker stock I could buy :) I would clean up.

k..just cuz our 2nd round picks havent been very good over last few years doesnt mean you trade away your 2nd just like that. We could of gotten much better player for a 2nd round pick. imagine what a pro bowl WR or close would of been needed. Welker = 2nd rounder..whats a guy like Santana Moss worth? two firsts?

theres also a good chance 2nd rounder would of been a pro bowler..plenty good 2nd rounders are in NFL who are pro bowlers and such. I didnt mind trading it but if we wanted Welker..give up a 3rd at best or 4th. Whats he done? Operate out of slot..return kicks/punts which hes been average at

I'm not thrilled by the trade but it was a safe way to spend it. Whoever is there with that pick will have good looking upside on Saturday but much higher bust potential than Welker too.

There's a chance . . . not a good chance if you look at 2nd rounders historically whether for us or leaguewide.

So Belichick was wrong in the Welker deal?

He made a mistake in your opinion?

I think I will wait to see if you or Bill is right. :)

I look forward to see how Brady and Welker work together.

i too hate having to give up a second rounder for a wr, thats not a stud at that
if not for the restricted designation theres no way he would garner a second rounder obv
but, we needed a reliable wr NOW
not another project
someone that could step in and perform today
yes, we got stallworth and washington too
but welker is the reliable third down guy of the bunch
the reliable short and intermediate routes of the bunch
and getting that for a second rounder is pretty good by my book

Count me as one who thinks Welker was a great 2nd rounder for us and who cares if we dont have a two we have two ones. think about it like this come monday everyone will have rookies that they are excited about but only the Pats will have Welker a proven WR

I can't believe the Dolphins let Welker go. Stallworth, Washington, Caldwell and Gaffney are rent a players. Welker is a New England Patriot.

you have to know, nobody knows WW better than BB...he lit us up each time and is basically a Troy-clone. I think he got 67 catches last year.

Coach knows real talent. He gets guys like Samuel in the 4th who turn into great players and then they leave cos they want to 'get paid'.

Rodney with tears in his eyes and his arm in a sling is why I love this team.

That's not about getting paid but about being the BEST. and working like a mad man for it -- makes the taste of victory as sweet as can be.

(happy with WW for 60th pick)

Pro Bowlers from last year that were 2nd rounders

Chad Johnson
Matt Light
Marcus McNeil
Aaron Schobel
Rashean Mathis
Anquan Boldin
Andre Gurode
Larry Allen
Drew Brees
Alge Crumpler
Tiki Barber
Kris Jenkins
Lofa Tatupu
Brian Dawkins

those are pro bowlers alone..solid list if u ask me..a few guys were a pick after or before round 2 (Gore, Wilson..few more)

If I had a week of free time I could put together a list of 2nd round busts. Whats your point?

i didnt say BB made a mistake..his team..he runs it. If he feels he was a worth a 2nd..go ahead but imo..hes only a 4th rounder really. im saying we could of done better with a 2nd round pick wether trading for a player or drafting

my point is you said that 2nd rounders, for us or league wide, dont turn out good. so i put a list for u

2nd round bust is as likely as a 1st round.

I did not say anything about the Patriots history in the 2nd round.

I asked if you thought Welker was a mistake.

Your answer was it Bill's team he can do what he wants. You would have never made the deal if it were your team ;)

Sit back and watch the magic sonny. :)

For at worst an above-average #3 WR (or an average #2 WR), a kick returner, and a punt returner... with solid character... and signed at a reasonable cost on a multi-year contract... I'll give up a #2 for that.

Besides, if the Pats kept all their draft picks, they WOULDN'T MAKE THE TEAM. Look at the roster.... now add 10 players to it. Good luck figuring out who to cut. The Pats have 10 draft choices, two 1st rounders and 4 picks that cannot be traded.

I have no problem giving up a #2 for a player who will be a solid #2/#3 WR and KR/PR for at least 3 years at a reasonable cost. Lets also not forget that we're weakening a division rival in the process.

(Aside : Naming all the 2007 pro bowlers that were 2nd rounders doesn't help much... We all know that every pick can be valuable and amazing players can be found in all rounds, from the Mannings (one anyway), LTs, and Larry Fitgerald & whatnot, there are your Bradys, Colstons and even your Troy Browns... we get it.)
