Seahawks look scary

The last time I was in line at a market basket checkout line in Cambridge on a Sunday, I got blocked pretty well. :)

Or was that Somerville. I forgot where the town line is.

Market Basket is in Somerville!

They put up 35 on the road against one of the best defenses in the league aganst a 11-3 team in a very tough division/division game. Not a 3-11 team like we did yesterday.

That's the scary part. What happened to the Cardinal's D? Who the heck is Luke Wilson? Cards made him look like 2007 Moss.

I think we need all hold the horses on our team first. We need to win 2 tough games to get to the SB. Its hard to get there so if we are lucky to get there , I wouldnt care who we play. But upsets happen all the time in the playoffs so we need to worry about our team first , especially how our offense is playing last few weeks and worry about other teams when we get there.

Ladies and gentlemen we have a winner!

I realize it was against a bad QB, but the premise of your post was that they are not as good a team away from seattle. They were dominant on the road yesterday. period.

Yes. And if they played the jets IN NY they would have as well. I meant it as if they play the pats at a neutlra sites vs playing say..buff or MIA

AZ is 24th in the league giving up 356 yards per game 30th in the league vs the pass with 264 aganst....hardly one of the best Ds....

PPG is around 18 which is very good...but playing Rams twice, OAK, Skins, Giants and ATL will do that

They are good against the run..that's about it

They must have regressed because I remember them being ranked much higher earlier in the year.

They got a lot worse on D. People make it as if they are a top 5 D. They are like a bend but don't break kind of team...but lately it hasn't been good... And they are 30th in the league in rushing O....that will kill you vs Seattle..

My issue is not that it could happen. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Seattle held the Pats to the teens. My issue is that you seem to accept it as a foregone conclusion, and I simply don't understand how a person can count Brady and Belichick out. To say that that tandem has no chance to score 20+ against anyone is asinine. And I'm not going to get into the mobile QB gameplan argument again, we've hashed that one to death.

Because we've seen better versions of our offenses get locked down by lesser defenses time and time again. We're going to have a hard time running the ball on Seattle and our only two playmakers are Gronk and Edelman, both of whom can be contained by their secondary. Seattle can get pressure with four guys. That's never a good thing. Our hope would have to be that our defense shuts their offense down but, given how we handle mobile quarterbacks and given that Russell Wilson will be the best one we have faced this season, I have my doubts that we could hold them to under 20.

But how do you know that they won't play as well against a good team in a neutral site? Besides, arizona would NOT be a neutral site for the seahawks as many of their fans from seattle would make the trip out there. It would be a distinct home field advantage for them.

And pats fans won't travel? you know how many pats fans live within a 2 hour flight in SOcAL (looks at the SD game) plus people going from here?

Except for a couple of moving pieces, this is the same defense that annihilated the greatest offense of all time in the Super Bowl and were being talked about in the same breath as the '85 Bears. They can generate pressure with a 4 man rush and are more than capable of slowing down Gronk and Edelman. Yes, they would lock us down. We would have to hope that our defense could do the same because I really can't see this offense putting up more than 17 against them.

Yeah, but when watching them I can't help but think that there is something gimmicky about their scheme. I can't put my finger on it, but I get this nagging feeling that there is something there that once you have figured it out they would be toast.

And the thing is it was a 14-6 game with 13 minutes to go and then the Seahawks pulled away. So while the final score says otherwise it was a one score game for 3 quarters.

One thing for sure: they certainly seem to get away with a lot more contact in the secondary than others.

It's gimmicky to you because all their pass catchers are average, there's really no elite option for Wilson. Just a bunch of JAGs. Wilson/Lynch is their offense. Lynch is Blount/Gray on steroids. Wilson is the best rushing QB of all time. Like I said earlier in this thread, he's everything Vick was supposed to be. He's got something like 850 yards and 6 TDs rushing. Wilson can extend plays with his feet which gives his average weapons time to uncover so he can find them for big plays. Doesn't matter how good your secondary is if you can't bring down their QB. Doesn't help our defense tends to throw up on itself when facing a mobile QB either.

Eh, they do. But so do we.

And the thing is it was a 14-6 game with 13 minutes to go and then the Seahawks pulled away. Cardinals have a halfway decent QB last night and there may have been a different result.

Exactly. Every game is individual, you can't extrapolate from one to the next otherwise the Patriots would have beaten the jets by 60, if the Patriots are fortunate enough to get to Arizona I have confidence they will give anyone they meet a good game.

Stop it. I'd rather play that gimmick offense if we should happen to be so lucky to be in the super bowl than Aaron Rogers and that real offense. Let the season play out, and go light on the chicken little. Remember guys, there is no answer to a healthy Bobby Gronk.
GB are frauds. We gave up two big plays that we usually don't surrender and that cost us. We can easily cut down on those mistakes and keep them to under 20 points.

I would much rather take GB on neutral field as opposed to Seattle. GB won't be making it that far though.

I honestly don't know about the pats fans. I do know seahawks fans like to travel - look what they did to peyton in last year's super bowl ;)

Problem is that the strength of the Pats defense--the secondary--is neutralized against a player like Wilson because we have to play zone. Meanwhile the strength of our offense--the passing game--plays right into the strength of their defense.

I would rather GB as well. I'd take any team that has a mediocre defense that I feel the Pats could score on. As for those big plays: Yes they're uncharacteristic of the Pats, but I'm sure from GB's perspective they're kicking them selves for driving all the way down the field and settling for so many FGs. I wouldn't call them frauds at all.
