Chandler Jones season in jeopardy

Doesn't this, and Denver's Thursday night drubbing of the Chargers all but guarantee we will trade for an impact player before the trade deadline?

What does the Denver game have to do with what we do as a team? Just becasue they won again?

Yup.

We drafted a 4-3 DE who is now healthy. This team is able to play the 4-3. The time has come.

Ninkovich, Wilfork, Jones/Walker, Easley
Collins, Hightower, Ayers/Skinner
Revis, Browner, McCourty, Chung

That's all that we have, other than Moore and the possibility of adding Branch. Chung also provides run support. Wilson and Harmon provide coverage support in passing situations. Dennard, Arrington and Ryan come in as needed in nickel and dime situations.
========
We'll see where we are in a week. I expect couple of defensive additions, with the loss of a special teamer (plus Barker).

I'm no scout, and the vids are available, but i don't think easley, with his short arms, is nearly as effective outside as in. Doesn't mean we don't use him there, but I saw him ridden outside a lot on video. I'm guessing they will be more creative in his use and try to get some taller players snaps too.

Seriously, are you a doctor? I'm wondering because i don't think anything's changed and there are two unknown sources, neither a doctor or speaking for the team, and 30 reports that are really just rehashes of those two.

I'd be curious if a medical person could at least throw out some possibilities.

Well he said he had 3 issues with this with his hip and athletes are much more prone to this tearing then the normal doofus like myself. So it very well could be an issue with the labral.

This is from Mayoclinic:

The cause of a hip labral tear may be:

  • Trauma. Injury to or dislocation of the hip joint — which can occur during car accidents or from playing contact sports such as football or hockey — can cause a hip labral tear.
  • Structural abnormalities. Some people are born with hip problems that can accelerate wear and tear of the joint and eventually cause a hip labral tear.
  • Repetitive motions. Sports-related and other physical activities — including the sudden twisting or pivoting motions common in golf or softball — can lead to joint wear and tear that ultimately results in a hip labral tear.

You mean like Akeem ayers? Guys like him are never available....

Serious pass rusher? Example #1 of why I no longer qualify a top 10 Pats Homo.

I like the Ayers trade but am realistic enough to have some skepticism about his current health and recognize that he could not get on the field for Tenn. He's good for us because if healthy enough to play at the NFL level he is a potentially nice upgrade on what we had. That is not much praise.

They're a better team than us right now, that's why.

I know they are. This isn't an arms race right now. Pats have their plan/way they do things and this isn't usually their way of doing things.

Maybe if Denver were in their divison. Pats will take the division and once you get in you never know. But beating the broncos in denver and the refs will be tough no matter who we have

Also, as TB 12 implied, there's usually a problem with guys available this time of year, but that doesn't make the Jags. Both Ayers and Branch are high picks with a lot of starts who have issues. Seems Ayers was getting boxed into being special teams only, which he played willingly. 1st year coach didn't like him after he'd been a reliable starter. It happens - fresh start could be called for. Same with Branch, though i think he's a definite if he gets his head on straight. Definitely an attitude problem the past year, but he's a freakin monster. Ayers could hit or miss, but Branch has a rare size speed combination making him a bust/1st round pick type of value.

Making the playoffs then seeing what happens isn't the Patriot way either.

Your original statement was "Right, because there are so many teams wanting to unload pass rushers these days."

You never said anything about a "serious pass rusher" or one that qualifies as a pro bowler. You can't change the goal posts now.

BTW, silver silaga was cut by the broncos and couldn't make the seahawks. Guess what? He's been solid for us when he's on the field.

Several have speculated that he has a torn labrum, which would be consistent with the sketchy reports, and the alleged injury video.
A traumatic hip labral tear is usually an acute injury as a result of a sports injury, fall, or accident. They are commonly associated with sudden, twisting maneuvers that cause immediate pain in the hip.
Recovery from a hip arthroscopy depends on the extent of work that needs to be completed, but usually lasts 6 to 12 weeks.

Even if he has a torn labrum, we don't know the severity, if they are trying surgical or nonsurgical treatment, etc. Recovery is unpredictable, which is consistent with the statements we are now hearing. Until we know more, the range of possibilities is very wide, and could include being back after Thanksgiving to being done for the year. Current options on the roster are several, although each is a question mark: Ayers, Moore, Easley, Fleming (PS), and Bequette (PS). It will be interesting to see what they do tomorrow, but I would not be surprised if they tried Easley, Moore and Ayers in a limited role right off the bat.

Maybe Jones will be good to go for playoff time. That's my hope anyway. If not maybe that's why Bequette is still on this team ha!

Hip labrum tears can take 4-6 months to recover from.

We can survive if he can be back by the end of the season/playoffs. Tough to lose your best pass rusher in a a pass happy league.

Never said Pro-Bowler

If that were the medical information then he would be placed on IR. That could come later of course, but it looks like they are hoping for something sooner, as the reports state.

Recovery after surgery depends on the extent of the repairs made. You will need crutches for at least several days. You may be able to resume some normal activities after about two weeks and begin participating in sports at about six weeks. It may be four months before you can return to activities like soccer or basketball that involve vigorous movements.

I only play one on TV but I have had about every hip, knee and ankle injury out there and the hip is pretty limited in what takes 6 weeks to months to heal. :)
Thanks again, doc...

Lots of torn male labia in this thread.

I'm not going to complain until I at least see what our pass rush looks like without him. Even then, quarterbacks will have to have enough time to take a nap and dice us up in more than one game for me to even look at a ledge. He will be missed, but I honestly feel that he was having his worst season so far and may actually benefit w/ a little time off to re-learn how he used to set the edge.

4-6 months...

luck isn't on our side. hoping for the best, expecting the worst...judging our recent injury it doesn't look good.

Our SB chance is out of the window.

Losing Jones means there is no chance at the SB? If so then there was already no chance for the SB.
Chandler Jones is definitely a solid asset, however, he is not (at least not yet) that difference maker whose play propels a team to the SB.

Fyi, the Patriots will make the SB because they begin playing their best ball at the right time and they get a few proverbial bounces at the right time also.
Imho the Patriots best ball will appear around the right time. The prime question is, will their best ball be good enough to propel them into the SB?
