Patriots CUTS

Surprising that BB is not willing to wait the extra season for Ballard to really recover from ACL surgery.

Wouldn't they have to cut him to put him on the IR?

Not really, there's actual hate for Pollard. With Tebow the majority of people know he isn't a very good QB.

The absolute worst thing about him making the roster though is the indoctrinated thralls of Tebowites that are going to infest this place all year (it's good for site revenue, though no doubt!). Having him on the roster would be almost fine if they didn't come along with him.

And where can we take and trash your bigotry Big-T?

What is the practical difference between NFI and PUP?

I really have no idea. But I think they work the same way cause I read he could be back in 6 weeks... maybe he was moved off NFI to PUP though. Not 100% sure on that.

Well IF he makes the starting day roster here is why, Mallett will be gone next off season in a trade, and the Coaching staff is thinking they can develop the guy into a viable backup.

That involves coaching up his throwing, and then leveraging his ability to make football plays in big spots. When playing at Denver he was effective when he avoided turnovers.

Not sure they can fix his throwing, but then again I'm not a football coach and haven't monitored his progress/lack of progeress as a coach would.

I *usually* do but I really, really can't see any tangible benefit to having Tim Tebow on the roster, it just seems like a wasted spot to me.

I'd be all for IR'ing him and if allowable by the rules sending him to Jeff Garcia for the year so he comes back next year with fixed mechanics, though.

1 - George Winn - albeit his chances increased last night
2/3 - Tavon and Adrian Wilson - unlikely but possible one of them are cut
4 - Joe Vellano
5 - Tim Tebow
6 - Jeff Tarpinian - I think that he is going to make it. Nice performance last night
7 - Quentin Sims - practice squader really?
8 - Chris McDonald - if the Patriots are looking at other rosters for offensive line depth
9 - Josh Kline - same as McDonald
10 - Justin Green - it goes without saying
11 - Nate Ebner
12 - James Develin
13 - Kanorris Davis
14 - Ja'Gared Davis
15 - Jermaine Cunningham - it depends on whether or not they sign a DT from their previous cuts (White) or from another team
16 - Marquice Cole - he is probably going to make it
17/18 - Brandon Bolden or Legarrette Blount - one or both may get cut; more than likely Bolden. It depends on whether or not Winn makes it
19 - Jake Bequette - I think that he is going to stick
20 - Ryan Allen - practice squad

Ballard and Fells are surprises so now I could easily cut 11 players from that list without touching Quentin Sims.

Loook out everz one.......... Grammar 5-oh in da haus.

Corrected my error

It was the most comical element of a comical post.

Ah, the call of a Tebowite "someone made a point I can't counteract let's call them a bigot!"

I'm sure Ian will love libelous statements being made on his website.

But, we all know Belichick likes to make seemingly weird decisions, if he thinks the 53 he chooses give the team the best chance to win a Lombardi then let's go for it.

What is the practical difference between NFI and PUP?

From a roster perspective, none. From the player's perspective -- PUP gets paid their contracted salary while on the list, while for NFI theteam can choose to not pay a salary (or pay a reduced one) to the player since the injury wasn't related to football. I guess it has a slight roster perspective as it will impact the cap a bit should the team choose to exercise that option.

Thanks very much!

He had a putrid preseason and I am surprised his name wasn't on the list today. But since it wasn't, you are probably right.

2nd round draft pick, year 2, and he plays special teams. He's got another year to start looking like a real safety.

More hate for Tebow than Bernard Pollard on this board.

I agree.

However I do think that he's a waste of a roster spot, but nobody pays me for my football evaluations.

If he's on the 53, he's a Patriot and I hope he contributes successfully to the team.

And he's been surprisingly average the past couple weeks.

We going to fall out again? :)

He will be cut but right now, he's a better receiver than Dobson.
I doubt the New England Patriots will retain seven wide receivers on the 53 man roster. As for Dobson, well you and I were enamoured with another wide receiver in the 2013 NFL Draft from the PAC-10.

I dout it too but Sims has really impressed me. Remember that video of he Pats receivers going up against the Eagles secondary in practice? Sims was one of the standouts there for me. Maybe they'll cut Edelman* and keep Sims?

*But punt returns...

By the way what's the story on him in The Pittsburg?

Peach manman preach, its just a matter of time before Edelperson trips over his shadow and end up on IR.;):D

So Tebow will live to fight another day (and possibly a season). Good for him.
