Patriots made it look so easy against the Texans, I just don't see them losing to the Ravens. The only team out there that can hang with NE is the 49ers, and that's only if Kaepernick plays like he did against Green Bay.

Green Bay's defense was absolutely putrid against Kaepernick - particularly Clay Matthews who gave up his lane responsibilities on both of Kaepernick's long runs. Defensive discipline is a lost art in Green Bay; it's the mainstay of the Patriots. I'd be amazed if Kaepernick has anywhere near the same kind of running success against the Patriots as he did against that Green Bay's sieve of a defense.

The Ravens are a well rounded offense IF executed effectively. Torrey Smith is a dangerous deep threat and Boldin has been making plays this post season. I don't think I need to say much about Ray Rice that hasn't been said but if they actually give the ball to this kid, he's going to make plays. Leach is also an asset to them. Pitta is a pretty good TE.

Their offense has the pieces there. It will come down to #5's ability to make the plays, which he certainly did last weekend and unfortunately usually does against the Patriots.

They're going to come out guns blazing; our defense needs to step up to the challenge and stop it.

but you couldn't ask for a worst time for the injuries we have as well

Gronk is a big loss, but the offense is still the best in the league without him. Hopefully Francis can step up if Jones is out and Vereen continues for Woodhead.

IMO, The 2009 Jets and 2010 Jets were better teams than the current Ravens team. The Ravens have an average offense, an average QB, an average defense, and a weak pass rush, just an average team that should've been 8-8.

How do they usually defend the Pats offense? On paper they aren't scary but they have an it factor.

I wonder if it is Ed Reed who is making Brady think too hard

The dual threat of Gronk and Hern against their LBs would've been huge. Hopefully Hooman and Fells step up, although Gronk is is irreplaceable.

Man if jones and woodhead don't play..that will hurt. And i don't think those jets teams were better. Balt is a tough out. No matter what people say we always play them the closest even if we are a better team. Always comes down to the 4th and it will this game as well. just don't turn the ball over

Kaepernick reminds me of Big Ben in a lot of ways. I think BB would cook up a very good defensive gameplan if the Pats do meet the 49ers in the SB.I'm only concerned with Flacco right now though. We'll know that there's good Joe & bad Joe. Hopefully bad Joe shows up next week. I hope even good Joe isn't enough for the Ravens to win next week.

I think Welker, Hernandez and either Woodhead or Vereen are going to destroy the Ravens LB's in coverage. A month ago we were looking at a wildcard game and then probably 2 road games such as Houston/Denver, now the Patriots have rested through the wildcard week and got rid of the Texans in NE and have the Ravens at home. The play-offs to this point have worked out as a best case scenario for the Patriots, Baltimore at home is as good as it gets at this point. They deserve respect and they can obviously win but my money is on the Patriots. I'm as confident heading into this game as i was for Denver last year, and i was certain they would win that one.

You're kidding right???

"Pro-bowl corners" in reputation only. Ask Jacoby Jones.
The ONLY thing that will keep this game close is Patriot mistakes/turnovers.
The Ravens have some weapons on offense but Flacco has some passing tendencies (deep ball always on right side) that can be exploited.
Ravens defense is old and Brady and Co will up tempo them into submission.
The ONLY way the Patriots loss this game is if the Patriots beat themselves.
NOT HAPPENIN'!!!!!
Mr. Brady is on a mission every bit as much as Ray Ray and maybe even more. But unlike the dancing fool, Tom is quietly intense about his mission.

Champ might be a little long in the tooth. But Chris Harris is a damn good corner. But Denver's safeties are not as good as McCourty or Gregory IMO and BB will happily play two high safeties for most of the game and pick Flacco two or three times.

No argument there. I think that the GB defense's performance was one of the worst, most undisciplined I've ever seen from a playoff team. It's shocking that a team with the defense it had in 2010 could fall so far so fast. And to think that they were worse last year!

Kaepernick is riding high at the moment, but from now on teams are going to start preparing for him and I think that the Pats (if both teams get that far) will have some answers.

I tend to agree with this. This new breed of running, read-option QB is a hot item right now, but defenses are going to start adjusting to them, and there's a real down-side to QBs like that: they get hurt a lot easier.

Big Ben is a truck, which is why he can take it. Kaepernick, Russell Wilson and RGIII are not. Look what's happened to RGIII already. The Kaepernicks and Wilsons of the NFL are going to get hit soon enough. They may be great now, but their durability is questionable IMO.

Notice that Manning, Brady and Rodgers are not scrambling, running QBs. Even Rodgers, who is a great runner, has cut way down on his scrambles--he still gets sacked a ton though.

what scares me is this stupid deep ball he always seems to complete with a flag coming here or there. I hope they let them play next week..but not holding my breath.

How many passes did he complete when they played earlier in the year of 20+..anyone know?

Also...can the ravens defend the deep ball brady was throwing yesterday to welker and vereen?

In Vereen's case he was matched up against a LB. Doubtful Ed Reed will mess up coverage back there enough to allow allow long completions to Welker and Vereen.

gem from ravens forum:

3. Flacco will be "forced to keep up?" wow! when will you cats stop saying this foolish stuff? smh! we heard that about Luck...Flacco out played him! we definitely heard that about Peyton....and Flacco just outplayed him! and now he has to "keep up with Brady?" Shhhhhhh!

Reality Check #1: The Ravens do NOT have a weak pass rush. They are averaging 3+ sacks per game for the last 10 games including the playoffs.

Reality Check #2: The Ravens O-line as it is currently manned has never played before the Playoffs started. They are currently playing the best 5 players available since McKinney has rounded into game shape. They have held to allow 1 sack in two games and average of 160 yards rushing per game. The number 1 sack attack in the league was shutout in regulation time.. zero sacks.. zero hits..

Reality Check #3: The Ravens defense is NOT old. There are only 3 players over 30 and two of them are rated as the best to ever play at their position..

More to come..

They will not rush for 160 on the pats. And the 3 oldest the best to play their position? Yeah in their prime which was years ago. Why do people bring this up. All their stats ect. Why not send Montana back out there..he is one of the best to ever play the position..i am sure he could still play at a high level :bricks:

With a healthy Gronk and Hernandez, I think we would have wiped the field with the Ravens. With just Hernandez and with Vereen finally coming out to play, I only see us winning by a couple of touchdowns. Maybe one late to seal it.

Absent turnovers, last year's AFCCG was a 3 score win.

Based on 80 years of data, a team that is +2 in turnovers, wins almost 90% of the time.

Last year, the Ravens were +2 in turnovers and every mediot in existence told us Flacco "outplayed" Brady.

Based on this, the difference between the rest of the two squads is considerable.
