NFL investigating Saints for placing bounties on players(merged X2)

I wonder what caused the change?

I think there will be lawsuits Ect on the way and the longer it takes to make a decision, the worse the offseason could become for the league...even if it's only a 2 week difference

Not necessarily.

I think there is a good chance this is probably a bit more widespread. The suggestion about Sexy-Rexy and Fisher seems pretty likely to me & who knows who else. I am sure Goodell is going to want to cap this off and get it buried before it spirals up into a New York team. But he can't make a decision til he sees how far it spreads beyond the one team.

If he just goes off and punishes the Saints and then it breaks about the other teams; he will have to match the punishments in the others too. And if he has to start doing suspensions of large numbers of players/coaches it will definitely affect the quality of the product on the field.

Fixed your post.

Tim Graham, formerly of ESPn and now the Buffalo News, tweets: Posted soon at BuffaloNews.com, former Bills players say Gregg Williams promoted rewards for big plays and injuring opponents.

Can anyone remember or come up with some kind of list where Patriots players going up against a team with Williams on the other sideline got injured?

Someone mentioned Faulk already

i'm happy to see more of this coming out

williams is going to be up **** creek

The tweet that former Bills were part of the bounty system.

Someone just posted this in another board-

Brady almost got his knee taken out in the '03 season finale.

The Buffalo News story:

During his time as Buffalo Bills head coach, Gregg Williams promoted cash bonuses for delivering hits that seriously injured opponents, former safety Coy Wire told The Buffalo News.

"There was financial compensation," Wire said.

Three other defensive players from that era, speaking to The News on condition of anonymity, confirmed that a bounty system existed during Williams' time with the Bills. Two of those players said cash bonuses were paid for "knockout shots" that sent opponents out of games.

Ask Reiss > Patriots Mailbag > Spygate Q&A says:

And the Final Ruling says:

No mention of it being about location, just about taping signals, period.

In a full interview, Belichick said:

Again, no mention of it being about location.

It's not LOGICAL for Bill to not offer up this defense if he thought it was significant.

Bottom line: the Pats were caught out, they owned up to it, they paid the penalties, life moved on.

The Saints should be doing the same, and an apology from Williams is not enough. We should have heard from the owner by now.

The Saints rules violations clearly did impact the game in which they occurred and of course rewarded the injury of players, so they should be more heavily punished.

I agree. Why does the commish feel he can/should wait, when he didn't feel he could/should wait when Belichick and the Pats are involved?

You friggin' liar...I just read all your bullcrap posts...HERE is the EXACT TRUTH, NAUGYNUTBAG...

NFL rules state "no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game."THAT is where BB was wrong They also say all video for coaching purposes must be shot from locations "enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead."THIS is the only place where you can shoot video of the game. This booth CANNOT be accessed by club staff. The game can and IS videotaped from this booth. The Pats used club personnel which was wrong. YOU have posted that there can be NO VIDEO TAPING during the game.YOU JUST OPENLY LIED.

That was re-emphasized in a memo sent Sept. 6 to NFL head coaches and general managers. In it, Ray Anderson, the league's executive vice president of football operations, wrote:"Videotaping of any type, including but not limited to taping of an opponent's offensive or defensive signals, is prohibited on the sidelines, in the coaches' booth, in the locker room or at any other locations accessible to club staff members during the game."

"accessible to club staff members during the game."
"accessible to club staff members during the game."

Naugahyde is fraud leather, just like YOU are a fraud Patriots fan.Video taping games IS legal as long as the NFL rule outlining the proper parameters are adhered to. Still, we are infested with you little jerks with your pompous bullcrap lies, logging on here well after the fact, and 30 posts in , starting with the same old stupidity and LIES in a malignant attempt to once again besmirch the Patriots organization and insult the loyal Patriot fanbase.

Mods...I apologize...I will NOT retract this post, so if you deem I need some time off from the board, that's fine with me. I just can't stomach this crap being spewed by these morons any more. It never ends. I read this person's posts I'm just sick of it...sick of the sniping, the continual lying, the undercover cowardly trolling and the idiotic "you have to admit" admonishments of these pinheaded posers.

HEY LETS ALL YELL AND CALL EACH OTHER NAMES, JOKER-WHOSE-DECK-IS-SHORT-A-FEW-CARDS!

Lies? I posted the source of everything I posted.

Nope, I posted that videotaping of offensive and defensive signals is never allowed, and I posted the source of that statement. I can post a few more sources if it helps you calm down a bit.

Naugahyde is fraud leather

I suppose, but it has a many qualities that make it better than real leather, and it pumped lots of money into my home town.

just like YOU are a fraud Patriots fan.

Who appointed YOU the judge and jury of who is a Patriots fan?

Joker, indeed.

Video taping games IS legal as long as the NFL rule outlining the proper parameters are adhered to. Still, we are infested with you little jerks with your pompous bullcrap lies, logging on here well after the fact, and 30 posts in , starting with the same old stupidity and LIES in a malignant attempt to once again besmirch the Patriots organization and insult the loyal Patriot fanbase.

So me, Mike Reiss, the Boston Globe, etc are all liars, and you, the Guardian of the Faith, are without doubt correct.

How about Belichick?

"Just going back over the whole taping incident, if I contacted the league and asked them about the practice, I'm sure they would have told me - as they have done - that it is not permissible. Then I could have avoided all of this.

"I take responsibility for it," he continued. "Even though I felt there was a gray area in the rule and I misinterpreted the rule, that was my mistake and we've been penalized for it. I apologize to everybody that is involved - the league, the other teams, the fans, our team, for the amount of conversation and dialogue that it's caused.

"I misinterpreted the rule. The commissioner made his ruling and we've been penalized for it and tried to move on."

Nothing in there is about the location of cameras, and nothing in the NFL statement penalizing Belechick said anything about the location of cameras, it said taping of signals is forbidden.

Bill Belichick has been fined $500,000 by the NFL. That is the maximum amount under the NFL Constitution and By-Laws for violating league policy last Sunday on the use of equipment to videotape an opposing teams offensive or defensive signals.

If that upsets you to the point of spewing green bile everywhere, maybe you should take some time off.

I don't know the answer to that question, but I do remember in the game against the Saints in '09, Brady and other starters were pulled late in the 4th quarter. Some in the media, like Peter King, accused the Patriots of quitting because of this.

Based on the recent news, I think it's more likely that Belichick considered the 3 TD deficit, the time remaining, and the possibility that some key players could be exposed to injury (moreso than normal) if they stayed in the game. I doubt that King will ever revisit this point, though.

NFL will now investigate Redskins bounty program....

Hide the saugy jet fan slinks back in with more of his undercover rat troll garbage....obviously someone stuck an ice pick in your forebrain at a Gate D bacchanal when you were a toddler Rat fan...you fail to comprehend the English language, a sure sign of the Rat fan....I NEVER said that what the Patriots were doing was right, I stated the FLAW in your scumbag assault on this board with your spygate crap....any/every game can be filmed from the NFL approved location, as long as the TEAM has NO ACCESS to it during the game. The Patriots used their own employees to film, a no-no,from the sidelines, another no-no, and PAID the price. YOU say "no filming allowed!!!it's right there in the globe!!!They don't state a distinction!!!"...the Globe, idiot Jet fan??? You mean the paper that printed and then retracted LIES all during the season of the Spygate advent? Really?? You're pinning your little rat assault on the Boston Globe?? What next, you're going to quote Tomase??? Pull out the idiotic "how they did it!!!!!" Schlereth sub-mongoloid clip from ESPN???

Perhaps you'd like to spin THIS into a Patriot hate piece of excrement like all the rest of your pathetic rat troll posts...

Jets videotaped Patriots last season in Foxborough - NFL - ESPN

The Jets were caught videotaping at Gillette Stadium last season and the Patriots had that New York employee removed from the area, according to published reports Wednesday. Jets coach Eric Mangini said his team received permission to film behind both end zones during the playoff game in January.

"We taped the game is what we taped, and we taped end-zone copy of the game, and we tape a double-end zone, which is standard operating procedure for us," Mangini said Wednesday. "We request that every single road game, and it's usually granted if physically it's possible. And when people request it from us, we do the same thing: We grant it."

But WAIT!! Naugy-ignoroid just lashed out with his ignorant "no taping allowed!!!!!" undercover Rat troll garbage...and there's HIS own green ex-Rat head coach admitting he used not one but TWO cameras at field level....how can this be, Naugaroid????? Oh wait...ESPN is not credible BUT the Boston Globe and Mike Reiss are the sports equivalent of the Supreme Court. Got it,Naugy Alosi....why don't you dredge up some "Patriots did it!!!!" drunken old Jet coach Westhof diatribes to spice up your next green rat troll extravaganza.

It was Lawyer Millroy of all people...so much for being "close friends".

Not sure if he was involved in the bounty scheme though.

Wow, no way Lawyer would try to take Brady's knee out. At least I would not think so.

Is there a youtube clip of this?

I highly doubt it. Play happened in the last game of the 03 season.

By the way...for the edification of those Pats fans that care....Naugahyde is made in Naugatuck, Connecticut...New Haven County...well over the line into NY Giant/Jet fan territory. This Naugy troll with the 32 posts who just happened to discover Patsfans.com a mere 30 posts ago was somewhere else all these years ....after all ,he knows every little facet of the Spygate media witchhunt like any true obsessed Rat fan does...I'm guessing he's that super obsessed Pats hater, 628 ,who has been banned from Gang Green and other Jet boards for his incessant spewing of the Spygate slander. Buh bye, Naugy-ignore...a real displeasure making your acquaintance again.

Ya there is nothing on youtube at all. Crazy, but then again Tommy has not mentioned Lawyer that much(outside of his trade), which is weird for being best friends and all..

Who knows. What I do know, is Greg Williams is suspect as hell..

So, Williams has basically set up the bounty system in every place he's been a coach. Be it a HC or a DC, there's been a bounty system.

And, contrary to some people claiming that it's no big deal because colleges do it, No, colleges don't do it. The "STICKERS" that some colleges put on the helmets aren't monetary in value. You don't get to take home an extra $1500 if you knocked someone out of the game. You get a little 10 cent sticker to put on your helmet if you made a good play. WOW.

Gregg Williams is done as coach in the NFL if Goodell toes the line the way he did with the Pats. Especially since there were memos about No bounties being allowed sent out several times in recent years.

i think this is a good reason why payton should be up for lifetime ban as well....
