Ehh... I've got no problem with people thinking Jackson will never make it, and I've got no problem with people thinkng the Patriots just screwed up. I just have problems with posts that ignore accessible facts when they are so easily gotten via the same internet the poster is using to make their opinion known. It's not difficult to pull up NFL.com and check data before posting about production, for example.

I know, I was just busting your nuts a little about the 'fact' part ;) I'm often one of those too lazy to pull up facts, and sometimes, like tackle #s, facts don't tell the whole story. Sometimes those numbers on paper are just as misleading as your 'gut' feeling, so we have to take all of them with a grain of salt and see how things play out...

1.) That's to be expected, as players need time to recover from ACL injuries

2.) This was not your argument. You're moving the goalposts.

People should try to look to facts first and THEN form opinions.

I didn't move the goal posts Chad Jack is the one who had the career threatning injury, that changed everything and to compare a pre injury stat and asume that he could improve is just that an assumption. If he didn't get hurt this convo would be different. Yes his rookie year was better than Bethels but Bethel did more to contribute throughout his career and just because Chad was on pace to be better prior to his injury doesn't mean it would have continued, that is where I will defer to the experts and BB and Pioli obviously felt he wasn't going to get it done for them.

Also what is wrong with moving the posts a bit my comments were not prefaced only on what was said in the post.

Having the guts to cut, that's something that really impresses me about Belichick. It seemed like Jackson was not a bad guy to have around and a heck of a talent, but he was getting to be like an old shoe-------comfortable and hard to get rid of. It's good to see somebody take control and get rid of it. I don't think we will miss this guy one bit.

As much as we can criticize the Pats for not hitting home runs with every 2nd round pick, you have to give them credit for letting WRs go. Name one WR who the Pats cut who ended up going on to a great career outside of NE?

Branch? Solid, but always hurt.
Givens? No.
Patten? No.
B. Johnson? No.
Gabriel? No.
Stallworth? Remains to be seen, he'll probably do alright.

I'm inclined to trust BB's opinion on receivers. The track record is near spotless.

For the Chad Jackson defenders on this board its time to finally admit what many of us have been saying since his first season - Chad Jackson = BUST.

Missing Donte Stallworth right now, but lets see how Kelly Washington does now..

It's CJ Jones time........

The unfortunate part of that list is that they're all guys the Pats had in the first place...

Well, yes and no... with the Pats many of them were excellent. Johnson and Gabriel were failures, but Branch, Givens, Patten, and to some extent Stallworth worked out pretty well. At the least they filled their roles.

It wasn't until they left that they were either exposed or too washed up to perform the same way.

Patten is doing pretty well in NO

Good riddance.

Patten is doing pretty well in NO

2001-2004 with NE:

54 Games, 165 rec (3/g), 2513 yards (46.5/g)

2005-2007 with Was/NO

30 Games, 77 rec (2.57/g), 1034 yards (34.5/g)

He's been ok for New Orleans, but his overall body of work hasn't been quite the same and he's had injury troubles. Fact remains, I don't think they regret losing him, except maybe when Branch pulled his shenanigans.

First off, even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Likely, that's one time more than you.
Second, what I've said about Jackson is that he's got talent and he needs to have a healthy year after a full training camp before he's called a bust. However, you keep crowing as if you have a clue about anything significant. I can always use the laughs.

Prove this claim. The only claim I have made on these boards in regards to a player being a bust, was the claim I made about Jackson.

I was right, you where wrong, period. You can make all the claims and excuses you want......if jackson was worth a damn, we would have kept him. You talk about the smarts of our coaching staff all the time, they know what they are doing right? Heres the facts: You cannot accept the you where 100% wrong about Jackson, that he is a bust, and he will never be a good NFL player. You are in total denial about Jackson.

Though the track record is pretty good, being a bust with the Patriots does not mean he could never pick up in another system where the route running is simpler and he's asked to do specific things.

This is the kind of gibberish I'm talking about, and it's why I suspect that stopped clock has a better track record than you do. What was I 100% wrong about? Did I claim Jackson was a great player or something?

Too bad. I wasn't holding much hope of his ever reaching the levels that people hoped for him at this time before his rookie season, but I thought he might step up and be a solid #4 WR.

I am concerned about our depth at WR. I am not sold on Washington, Aiken, or Jones at the WR spot. Washington has the best shot of the three at WR, but the other two have done nothing at that position to prove to anyone that they can even be a #5 WR.

I think Washington will be fine, and Ventrone and Slater showed flashes in preseason. My guess is they go in before Aiken or Jones.

I am not sold on any of them. But apparently Belichick, Pioli, and McDaniels are. So I will stay very cautiously optimistic. Still think it could be an area of concern if one of our top 3 miss significant time. But if we can win with Reche Caldwell as our best WR, we can survive with one of those three going down.

I think they could fill in for Gaffney. If Moss or Welker go down, I have serious doubts, but honestly, could Jackson really have filled their shoes either? Based on what we saw?

Gaffney would replace either Moss or Welker and Jackson would have stepped up to #3. I am not convinced Washington is the guy who can do it. I wasn't sure if Jackson could either, but his talent upside was greater.
