Pacman makes this guy look like a priest and the Pats were reported to be very interested in him.

I believe BB explicitly quashed that rumor.

the only reason he squashed it is cause they didnt make a deal I can guarantee you that he ws interested in a talented player like PM
Lest we forget this man coached LT and is actually good friends with him. BB doesnt care how you act in your personal life as long as you get it done on the field. Now that doesnt mean he would sign every nut I am just saying they kicked the tires on bad boys before and nothing should shock us these days

And..MUCH of that was way in the past...no??

Deus, the point is, that was way in the past.

The poster I responded to asked for the problems before and after joining the Patriots. Naturally, everything that happened before was "in the past", but let's stop trying to kid ourselves. Dillon was a bad guy.

So a media report originating with a player's agent, with no confirmation from the team, is something you consider evidence of their interest.

Hardly.

When they bring him in for a workout, then they're showing interest. Everything else is hogwash.

no that doesnt mean they were close to signing him but those reports had to of come from somewhere. can we stop with the belief that every reporter is a Tomasse please. Some are good at what they do Shefter being one of them and even he said the Pats made the call. Now you dont make a call on a guy you know is a bad guy unless he has talent and you are willing to see past that. Why cant some of you see that when all else fails talent saves all. I love this team but I am not blind enough to think Bob Kraft would stop his team from becoming successful cause someone made a few mistakes in life. There are tons of things other players on this team have done that we know nothing about but the Pats do. Some of these guys have multiple children with multiple women and dont pay child support (purely speculating) and since we dont know all is well. Please dont fool yourself if they thought the price was right and the talent was there PM would have been a member of this team.

The way you up somethings value...be it player or house or those preseason tickets you don't want... is to make it appear there are a lot of prospective buyers.

That is why every cell phone call the real estate agent gets is someone very interested in the property he/she is trying convince you to put a deposit on today.

Agent: Hi Scott, I was wondering if you would be interested in acquiring Jay Feeley?

SP: The kicker that got cut by KC after a day?

Agent: Yeah that one.

SP: Are you drunk? We are happy with Ghost.

Agent: Will you at least run it by Bill Belichick.

SP: [Laughing] Okay, next time I see Bill, I will have discuss it with it. {Scott figures this should be good for a laugh when they meet for beer after work}

[hangs up]

Agent: Hi. I got a hot scoop for you. The Patriots are considering acquiring Jay.

Report: Can I quote you on that. No, no, no, no. You know the deal, "a source close to the deal."

[hangs up]

PFT: According to inside sources the Patriots are seriously considering releasing Steven Ghowslawski and acquiring Jay Feeley.

No..I understand...and its interesting to know where Dillon came from..and he WAS a bad guy..no question about it..and that was good you found that..so one could see clear what HE DID...my problems was more in the tone of the article..."expecting jail time from this promising youmgster"..On the one hand trying to say how these guys are bad...on the other almost PROMOTING bad behavier.. Making light of a deep problem in society crime..and prisons..and someone like that has NO IDEA at all about either..THAT was what I did not like..but that is another issue..far away...
No doubt Dillon was bad...that he has pulled himself away is what people should be looking at. Irving Fryar is another one..far back..and his trangressions were classic. There's been some Pats who have been on the edge...but??? It;s about football NOT being choir boys...

The way you up somethings value...

Wait a second we are not talking about a washed up kicker in Jay Feeley we are talking about a very good CB and great KR in PM and a more than capable to good CB in RMJ. If you are a JAG and were a bad guy you are not even looked at. IF you have talent and a team like us has a need you get looks of interest just accept it and everything will seem much easier after that

Look up "analogy" and "satire" in the dictionary.

It was later determined the Maurice Jones-Drew had nothing to do with the incident. He just happened to be in the Denny's at the same time elsewhere, minding his own business...
I remember being shocked at the time that MJD would have been involved in such an incident and posted my doubts. He went to local (and national) powerhouse De La Salle High School in Concord, CA (like Matt Guttierez!) where thugs aren't tolerated. Glad to see he was absolved of guilt.

Regards,
Chris

Actually I was giving an analogy on what might have happened with the "interest" the Pats had on PacMan to drive up his value and get Dallas to deal.

a more than capable to good CB in RMJ

He is neither. I don't get the love affair with this guy. He was going to be 4th, maybe even 5th on the Bears depth chart this year. Every time he's been given a starting job in the league, he's had it taken from him and then has been cut or let go. Interceptions you remember from his rookie year aside, I doubt he's any better than, say, Jason Webster was. Bears fans did not think him to be particularly good.

The Corey Dillon and Pacman Jones comparisons don't work. Dillon was a former All-Pro and Pacman is a highly talented young corner. Manning is a nickel guy on a good day, and I'd rather have Terrence Wheatley playing there.

After getting absolutly embarrassed by David Givens, who everyone here calls below average and claims brady made him, when manning was at his peak, how much use is he going to be now? Plus he still lives off that one great game he had in the 2003 playoffs, he really isn't a very good player

Never said I was in love with him in fact I said I think he would end up elsewhere but I do think they have interest in a guy who has shown talent just cause he can't do it in Chicago (a cover 2) system doesnt mean he couldnt handle the pats system which already has been said to need only capable CB cause of the pressure they put on their LB's and DL. The PM reference I made was just to show they have looked at Bad guys before and when the situation fits will look again
