Who Isn't? ;)

If Bryant was so good the freaking lowly Lions would have done all they could to keep him around, even if it meant messing around with the cap some - The Lions did not think he was worth keeping on a team which is almost certain to crap the bed again -

Bryant sucks as we will see in another week or two- There has got to be a JAG for some competition in cuts this week, even if its not Manning Jr.

Hobbs and Bryant as starting corners on this team could make all of a mans hair fall out, although right now I am not so sure Hobbs will blow this year.

You don't have to tell me, I know all about it, tell guys like Sicilian who are so drunk on the BB Koolaid they believe Bryant is the answer.

Hey BrIZ, how come this great talent evaluator didn't attack you when you said that same thing as I did ? Wow.......

You sound like you're the one with the Madden 09 based on your comments. But wait, because BB signed Bryant, HE MUST BE GOOD RIGHT ? I mean, he's had all of 7 picks in 9 years of NFL work, Terry Glenn will do that math for you, that equates to a little under 1 pick per season, .6888 something like that. And ya, what am I thinking. Bryant was fantastic in these 3 pre-season games. Truly Lock-down like.

Because I haven't noticed Briz taking EVERY opportunity to slam all of our corners in every thread.

Couple things. One, I don't think he's a pro-bowler by any means, but I also don't think you NEED pro-bowlers at CB to win super bowls. See Moreland, Earthwind. Also, I don't think our CBs were put in the best position to succeed in the preseason. Will they suddenly become shutdown? No. But they're going to be better, I can almost guarantee you that.

Second thing, 7 picks in 9 years is .777777 per season. Pet peeve ;) But regardless, just like sacks alone don't reflect a great lineman, INTs don't reflect a great CB. They DO, however, make the CB cost a lot more money.

Can't argue with that evidence.

Yes, because the number of interceptions one has is always key to how good they really are.. it doesn't matter whether they actually threw at that person or not.

Manning - 19 passes defensed.
Bryant - 54 passes defensed.

Which one is better again????

It would seem to me that Manning is a boom or bust type player who takes too many chances.

"It appears clear that Drew had nothing to do with the beating and just happened to be standing nearby."

Sounds fishy to me.

Even if that is so, which the powers who be have determined - the fact the guy didn't try to stop the beating and was most likely cheering his scum of a friend on is just as disturbing.

I was being sarcastic, as in there wasn't any evidence at all. It was a throwaway statement "Manning is better than Bryant" without anything to back it up.

wow, I can't believe Jones-Drew is such a little sh*t. Why did he get cleared?

Vasher was injured last year. Manning stepped in. He then was replaced as a starter by a 7th round draft pick (Trumaine McBride). With the drafting of Zackary Bowman, it essentially made him the roster's fifth cornerback. Sorry, but being placed fifth on the depth chart speaks to a lack of talent.

Vasher is still the starting CB it dont matter that he was injured he would be the starting CB this season and Manning would still be 3rd or nickle on the depth chart. When Vasher went down early in the season Manning didnt step in for long, they went with McBride soon after which pissed Manning off. You dont show a lack of talent in a few games when your history as a solid corner shows you can play. They just went in another direction and like i said its hard to put up stats as a nickle corner.

Manning is still a good CB, he was let go because of a bad relationship with the front office.

That's the same direction the Lions went in when they released Bryant. Only he was starting for them, not playing nickel.

Did Bryant have a bad relationship with the front office?

Lets really break this down.

Bryant - 110 games played - 109 starts - 311 solo tackles, 46 assisted, 54 passes defensed, 7 interceptions.

Manning, Jr - 79 games played - 37 starts - 212 solo tackles , 49 assisted , 3 sacks, 19 Passes defensed, 14 interceptions

Manning, Jr has been, basically, a nickle back for every season but 1. Bryant has been a top corner his entire career. Manning, Jr, has gotten a hand on the ball or an interception in 46.6% of his games played compared to 55.45% for Bryant. Asante has gotten his hands on the ball more than once a game by comparison. (83 times in 75 games).

Did Bryant have a bad relationship with the front office?

My understanding is he was a model citizen who just didn't fit in with the new scheme and youth movement going forward.

Good stuff. I'd be interested to see the success rate of both players. I've been trying to find something about it on chff but no luck. Anyone else able to find it?

And I'm ok saying that Asante, for all his risk taking, is a better corner overall than Bryant. IMO However, in a salary cap era, Bryant at low salary > Asante at 9+ million per season, especially if that helps us extend Wilfork.

Earthwind Moreland was not on the team for the Superbowl.

dont forget DB Manning had 5 INTs in the playoffs, so hes actually had 19 INTs.

IMO Bryant was cut because of lack of talent, Manning was cut because of bad relationship with the front office.

His character could be considered a liability and after reading up on him properly, ok he's a decent player but Patriots material?

McBride would have been 3rd on the depth chart, because Vasher will be returning. McBride would be behind Tillman and Vasher. Manning would have been behind all of them, as well as Danieal Manning, and the Bears drafted Zackary Bowman as well. He was a loudmouth and clearly not talented enough to make up for it, with huge character problems that include two assault charges, one in 2002 and the other, the Denny's incident, a felony assault in 2006.

exactly he was outsted because of a bad relationship with the front office, not because he sucks as a corner. Thats why he was cut, they dont like him and went in a different direction, drafted new guys. Manning has put up solid numbers in his career before being demoted to nickle by his coaches.

Briz - Get real, would you. I was comparing regular seasons. But you don't give a care about that because it flies in the face of your love for a guy who just isn't that good.

Manning could have shined in Carolina. What happened? He started the 2004 season and then got relegated back to the Nickle position. Do you know why? Because they didn't feel he was that good.

Do you know why the Bears went with McBride instead of a seasoned veteran after Vasher went down? Because Manning proved to them he wasn't capable of being the every day starter.

OH... How is it that Bryant starts 109 of 110 games yet doesn't have talent, but Manning starts only 37 of 79 and does? Keep talking out your rear Briz.

Briz - you are getting to be like Braniac when you just talk and ignore the facts, yet say stuff that actually supports what the other person is saying...Why did Ricky Manning have a bad relationship with the front office? Because he's not talented, he's a loud mouth, and he has character issues as primetime mentioned.
