The Sports Reporters Show Today: 100% for Suspending Belichick

Jet/Ratdell won't do a thing...he's ALREADY protected Ratweenie and the Rats from ANY possible investigation by destroying the tapes.

Albom is such a worthless little dink he couldn't even make the cut for his high school girls field hockey squad. C'mon with these hacks...

the sports reporters was a tired act 10 yrs. ago. **** schaap was a good writer but barely tolerable on the show. the others have always been worthless nerds. as far as albom. he has that ridiculous haircut to hide his ridiculous spock ears. so, he's basically bitter at the world.
Bob Ryan's a regular on that show. Is he a worthless nerd? If so, might as well close up the Globe sports section for good.

It's called don't shoot the messenger, and that's what one gets from a lot of people here, not all, but a lot, unless one just sings the all is good, all is great mantra.

goodell might cave into media pressure to punish the pats further, iam a little worried about that . But remember , now its NFLN vs comcast. anything goodell does to punish the pats also results in a moral victory for spector and his ego .this alone could be a factor which keeps goodell from doing anything.
this is really not much to do about the pats. We are getting screwed in between NFL and comcast.

I think these opinions are representative of espn (and the new york times), but not of all sports writers. From what I've seen it's about 50-50 elsewhere, and the negative voices are based on the taping of offensive signals. Even Gary Myers, one of the most vocal anti-Pat writers, is ready to throw in the towel and has already wrote about the minimal benefits. Dan Pompei of the Chicago Tribune, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Mike Freeman from CBS Sports are some outide of New England that have taken the unpopular view of not calling for a public hanging.

Actually Ryan is pretty much past it. His latest columns are pretty bad.

Just to recap, here's what each reporter thought:

Bill Rhoden: Belichick should have been suspended in September. It's like a baseball player on steroids being named to the All-Pro team.

Mitch Albom: If the NFL said there were tapes from 2006 and 2007, and now there is 2000-2002, it's reasonable to assume 2003-05 were also cheating years. Agrees that Belichick should have been suspended before. Fine was a joke. Draft pick mitigated by the 49ers' pick. [Completely disregarded Goodell coming out after the Specter meeting and saying Belichick admitted to it from 2000]

Howard Bryant: If he wants to be taken seriously, especially in the eyes of the the NFLPA, Goodell needs to send the same message he sent when disciplining Pacman, Henry, Thurman, etc., because Belichick is management.

John Saunders: Management pays Goodell...

So in otherwords, they just feel the original punishement and they want Goodell to use this as a loophole to punish the Pats again for something they were already punished for.

yes !!. i've never been a big ryan, shank, mcmullen et al, fan. mcdonough was good at times but he could be a ******* as well. when ryan came out and said channing frye was going to be the best player coming out that year(2005)i knew he had totally lost it. shows like the sports reporters are for fans too dense to have their own opinion. espn is sports pablum.

This is the longest %##$ pregame show in history!

By time the season starts the spin doctors will have the entire nation believing Belichick flew the planes into the World Trade Center and parachuted to safety just before impact.

The storm of factless columns is just overwhelming. At what point does Mr. Kraft start defending himself against being a permanent pinata?

SERIOUSLY!!!!

I'm with you shmessy on this. I've lost my patience with Kraft on his "laying-low" with this issue. Someone has to step up and stand up.

I am bewildered trying to figure out why he's doing this.

This may sound ridiculous and too little too late, but what would you guys think of picketing in front of ESPN? I mean to get some publicity and force the truth to be told?

Obviously we'd need a spokesperson who is synced up with the facts no one wants to tell.

Is this stupid?

If you can get the truth from the one guy who knows it then you are on your way. ESPN doesn't know the truth any better than you or I. It's entirely speculation.

richpats, I'm referring to forcing ESPN to face questions regarding their one-sided coverage on this issue. I'm also referring to such truths as it is legal to tape signals...I'm also referring to the fact that recent tampering violations don't get covered, and the NY Times quoting of ONE source to show the pats are the team that violates rules the most.

I'm talking about ALL the truths about "cheating" in the NFL and how the Patriots have been made scapegoats....

So, yes, I do know the truth and I know many truths that are facts which is more than ESPN supporting suspension despite NO NEW EVIDENCE.

You know, all the stuff that was put together in the "Pats fans for truth" thread...remember?

All ESPN knows is lies or THEIR version of the truth.

And I know you agree here.

I find it funny that people say the 2001 title is tainted when the steelers themeslves do not consider it an issue. but again, the media does not report the story, they create it. you know they are not going to be fair about it, and they need a story so they won't let this die. controversy gets ratings and advertising dollars up, so they want to suck as much as they can out of this.

Completely unsurprising to hear that those four windbags brought out their torches and pitchforks. It wouldn't have mattered what was on those tapes, they were going to vilify Belichick regardless.

nice to see everyone moving on on this forum.
Am I gonna have to post my double chocolate nut brownies recipe to calm you folks down?

uh..are those the ones with the marajoowanna surprise baked inside?

Why wouldn't they be for suspending Belichick? They figure the only way to beat the Pats is to get rid of BB and since Goodell has shown that he responds to media pressure rather than doing the right thing, they will keep the pressure on until Goodell gives in and gives them what they want.

Its funny how I dont remember people calling out to suspend Barry Bonds, and he was accused of cheating...

Arlen Specter, as well as Goodell will be interviewing Walsh tomorrow. As to whether they will be doing it together or separately, don't know. I think Specter is being vindictive and will be pressuring Goodell for some kind of penalty against the Pats. If Specter stayed out of the mix, this controversy could have a better chance of blowing over.

Their OPINION means nothing to me and it will mean even less after TUESDAY. This entire thing was about a Rams walk-thru not about offensive of defensive signals. THERE IS NO TAPE OF A RAMS WALK-THRU. These people better be careful how far they take this thing. Don't take the Patriots silence for blindness. Bob Kraft is not going to stand there and let the NFL or the pathetic Media destroy what he has built. I don't understand why some of you continue to poison your minds with the filth that is ESPN. I have boycotted that piece of **** for over two years. I am a much more balanced and happy person today. :)
It is relevant to discuss (and watch) ESPN, dear LPF, because their programming impacts our team's reputation. Even if you don't pay any attention it doesn't change the fact that millions of others will watch, and believe their lies, innuendos and sanctimonious judgments are true and justified. If the Pats (and their legion of fans) don't present the other side, who will?

Anything that leads to criminal charges, yes they should all require suspension. Shootings, weapons charges, disturbing the peace (by throwing $100 bills at strippers and trying to make them give them back) and videotaping. Yep sounds fair across the board. Mmm mnn
