Re: Moss resigns with hometown discout

Ok I Can Breathe Now Right Guys I Can Breathe Now Ok?

Re: Moss resigns with hometown discout

I'm not convinced he took a hometown discount. Despite all the rumormongering about Moss listening to offers, did any team make him an offer? Did he make a visit anywhere? Plenty of deep pocketed teams had an opportunity to offer Moss jaw-dropping money, but the offers didn't come.

My theorey is that Moss and the Pats had a tentative deal in place. Moss hesitated to try to drive up the offer. Other teams, scared off by Moss' behavior in Oakland, weren't willing to bite. So, yeah, Moss took less than value to remain with the team, but I also think he took the best offer available to him.

Re: moss message to his fans.

Sweet. He's baaack!
This news has also been reported on ESPN.

Re: Moss resigns with hometown discout

If he is 75% of what he was last year it's quite the bargain.

Re: ESPN/Reiss/PFT: Moss and Patriots agree on 3-year, $27M deal [mergedx3]

You don't get it Joe. Randy also said he wanted a "fair" deal as part of his willingness not to break the bank. When your team allows you to test the market, that is what you do in order to establish what is fair and what is available and what you are willing to forego.

Well put, correct opinioin.

Re: ESPN/Reiss/PFT: Moss and Patriots agree on 3-year, $27M deal [mergedx3]

if true, this is a steal considering what berrian and stallworth got.

We don't know the guaranteed/bonus monies yet, so that's too soon to say if this is a STEAL per se. I think it's a fair deal though. The 9M per year Moss will make is significantly more than what Berrian or Stallworth got.

Stallworth 7 years, 35M. 5M per year. 10M bonus.

Berrian 6 years, 42M. 7M per year. 13M bonus.

Moss is going to earn 2M more per year than any of the other guys, and I'm assuming we're looking at a signing bonus of at least 15M. So yeah, he's getting PAID to stay. The only positive in terms of the young guy's contracts is length, but that makes sense since he will turn 31 once the season starts. I think this is a great deal for both sides. It keeps Brady's #1 receiver in NE, and Moss is getting paid more than TO, so he's got his "respect."

Re: Moss resigns with hometown discout

that's a bigtime discount, amazing

Re: Moss resigns with hometown discout

3 months ago my prediction was 3yrs ~25m.

huzzah for me.
Don't sprain your shoulder patting yourself on the back, brother.

Something was said that Philly made a late run,and was offering more money to Moss, but what ever the case is FA has begun, because goal number 1 is complete..

Re: ESPN/Reiss/PFT: Moss and Patriots agree on 3-year, $27M deal [mergedx3]

Stallworth 7 years, 35M. 5M per year. 10M bonus.

Berrian 6 years, 42M. 7M per year. 13M bonus.

Moss 3 years, 27 M, 9 per year, 12 bonus.

Re: Moss reported to have agreed to $27 Million over 3 years

Why does it have to be anyone's fault if a contract is signed within two days of the start of Free Agency?

Pats were lowballing him? Geez. You friggin' guys are so impatient, so ready to panick on MARCH THE FRIGGIN' THIRD, it's astounding.

I wasn't impatient. I was responding to those jumping on Moss as if he's just chasing the money or was being difficult. I thought all along that he would resign. nd he was being reasonable. So were the Pats, but people who were trying to get on Moss for "saying one thing and doing another" were incorrect IMO. And lowballing is part of the game, which they did perfectly I suppose.

Re: moss message to his fans.

that gave me chills.

Moss turned down more money from Eagles

According to a source close to the situation, the Eagles spoke to Randy Moss for quite a while today, attempting to lure him to Philadelphia, much like they had Asante Samuel. In fact, they Eagles offered Moss more than the 3-year, $27 million he received from the Pats. Only, Moss turned it down.

That says a lot about Moss, and his desire to win, and living up to the words he spoke last season when he arrived and took a paycut to play.

Welcome back Randy, hes a man of his word.

Re: moss message to his fans.

It's good to be back, Moss. Let kick some ars this 08 season. 19-0 is the objective. Where is the champaign.?

Re: Moss turned down more money from Eagles

Wow, Moss has gained even more respect from me. I didn't think there was a market for him. Good choice by him though.

Re: moss message to his fans.

Now I think I will actually get a Moss jersey for next year.

Re: Moss turned down more money from Eagles

tomase and his sources 'close to the situation'...nuff said. He couldnt provide one breaking/accurate news about moss all the while referring to PFT or ESPN.

Re: Moss turned down more money from Eagles

I think it's a no brainer. He has about a 99% chance to see the full length of the contract.
