Call me crazy...

The talk has already started about the more than impossible 16-0 consecutive seasons - JUST STOP IT ALREADY!!

If we go 11-5 and win the east and sneak quietly into the playoffs under the radar it would be great,This 16-0 stuff again is a ******ed waste of discussion.

Yes,very few thought 16-0 was going to happen last year but it did,However NOT going to be the case in 2008 and if anyone wants to think so get phychiatric help please or bet me on it.

Those other 16 teams won't all lay down for our mighty Patriots in 2008 I assure you - 11 or 12 wins is what I assume will happen and we don't even have anything near a team formed yet for next year or anything that may transpire out of this Rams spygate crap which could have some sort of effect on anything for the Patriots so 16-0 is even more of a beyond stupid talk.

If you're judging how a team will do by their roster right now, you can pencil the Dolphins in for -7 wins, the Falcons in for -5 wins, and the Colts for 7. That's ridiculous.

The Dolphins would have a starting OL of Julius Wilson, Drew Mormino, Samson Satele, Trey Darilek, and Vernon Carey. And that's all they happen to have on their roster at this position right now.

Nothing will come of that, and nothing will effect the way this team plays next season.

I think you misunderstand the point of the thread. It isn't about predicting a 16-0 season. Its about whether or not you will feel uncomfortable if they don't lose a game early in the season. In other words, will you be hoping for at least one loss?

Your right, 16-0 again is highly unprobable. However, if we reach 8-0 again, which is much more possible depending on the schedule then we will certainly begin to hear the undefeated talk again and everyone and their mom will have an opinion on wheather or not the Pats should purposely loose a game. I for one would never hope for such a thing.

You think they'll wait that long? People were asking if the Pats could go 16-0 after the first Buffalo game.

And, FWIW, if the Pats get to 7-0, they will own the record for the longest RS streak without a loss (it's currently 25 games, by the 1921-23 Canton Bulldogs; among extant franchises, it's 24, by the 1941-43 Bears).

So your saying you would rather be 7-1 than 8-0.

And what if by some amazing turn of the fates Miami is 8-0 will you be happy to be 7-1 then. ( I chose Miami because of how ludicrus the idea of them 8-0 is)

You would be happy though right, who cares we could eb second in the division so long as we don't have to hear the 19-0 talk right.

Sorry you can explain it as many different ways as you want, doesn't change the fact that every tams goal shuold be to win as many games as possible.

Re: Call me crazy....

If Lawyer Milloy wasn't cut, they could've gone 19-0 in 2003. The Pats were clearly better than the Bills, but they were just deflated in the days leading up to the opener. They also lost to a Redskins team by 3 points and could've very well won outright had Kevin Faulk not fumbled (unabashed KF fan here, just saying).

They could've gone 19-0 in 2004, losing to the Steelers and 'Phins. I'm really not making excuses. I know they were blown out once and lost one close in '03 and '04. It's just that the Pats have been a threat to go undefeated for years and, until this year, no one thought it was even possible. It is always "possible".

I'm not expecting them to go 16-0 again, it's just that I cannot root for a loss...EVER!

Not to mention in that time span the Colts put up some pretty good runs only to eventually lose and than pack it in but. they gave it their best and a few years earlier Denver and the Vikings were tryong for it. While all those teams failed proving how difficult it is, I think they also prooved it is possible and who knows maybe we can make another run at it. The colts made two runs at it (right).

Don't forget that the dolphins always point to their losing the Super Bowl in 71 as their catalyst to the undefeated season.

If the coaching staff can retool what we lose (asante, Bru, Seau, what ever might go) Maybe this team can use last year as evidence that it is possible and go get er done.

I said it back in Week 13 when the media said the 12-0 Patriots looked like they were feeling the pressure of going undefeated. Even at 15-0, the pressure of going 16-0 would be pale in comparison to any playoff game after that. After 16-0, it's 19-0 or bust or be looked at as a failure. I felt the Pats caught a break by getting the lowly-ranked Giants because the Cowboys and Packers looked to be stronger. But that was the worst case scenario for the Pats because they started to relax and believe the hype about their greatness against a 5th-seed weak NFC. Bill Belichick was smiling and joking during press conferences! That was a bad sign. So what hurt the Pats in the Super Bowl wasn't the pressure of 19-0 but overlooking their opponent.
