18-0; and the Disprespect Card is back

Yeah, people are still questioning how great Brady is. Has everyone forgotten the fact that he was already won THREE SUPER BOWLS!!! No other active quarterback has even been in three super bowls, much less won more than one. And only a handful ever have won 3 or more. Last year, with no receivers, in hostile territory, Brady came within 1 minute of the title game. But 3 super bowls, for crying out loud. What more do you have to do? (oh, I know, have a perfect season).

Oops - spelling mistakes. sorry.

Giants beat 3 division winners on the road. And two of those division winners were the top seeds in the NFC and both had records of 13-3.

Patriots beat the third seed and the 5th seed at home. Both had records of 11-5.

The Pats as a whole have had the more impressive season. (for obvious reasons of course) But, the Giants have had the more impressive playoff run.

Yeah you can argue the NFC is weaker and that you cannot choose who you play etc.

IMO, the Giants wouldn't have beaten either Jax or SD.

The guys on FSNE are right. We're 18-0 but the team that loves to be disrespected is right back where they want to be.

- The Giants' black suits for the funeral.
- Burress' "prediction"; did you see the look on Brady's face about scoring only 17 ?
- The media saying the Giants have momentum.
- The media saying Eli has been the best QB in the playoffs this year.

We couldn't have asked for a better week. The Disrespect Card is back for real. Harrison will walk off the field saying "We were 18-0 but no-one thought we could do it".

It's funny, because when the playoffs started, the Jags were the team NO ONE wanted to play. What happened to them?

I don't get it also.

The Giants beat two freakin' NFC TEAMS the past two games by 3 points and 4 points.

The Pats beat two AFC teams by 9 and 11 points.

That's a good point, but I think you have to adjust for home field.

The Giants may considered to be on a roll because they're normally a streaky team and they're in the middle of a mini-run. The Steelers did this to win it. It definitely counts.

Certainly they're in the middle of a mini-run - 3 games, and they are on a roll. I guess the point is that the Pats are on a 18 game run, so there doesn't seem to be much of a comparison.

And for all the talk of the Giant's 10 game road winning streak (which is no doubt impressive), they lost 6 at home (.250 home record) this year. That counts, too.

I think everyone just needs this to be a story. It's a good one, too. I just hope it ends with "perfect season" instead of "upset," which it surely would be.

don't most playoff teams have to win 2 or 3 in a row to get to the Superbowl?

i mean, i thought that's how it went.

I guess....you could say that SuperBowl teams have momentum.

But that's like saying football players are strong.

Precisely. The Giants have won 3 in a row, but aside from a bye week team losing its last game, this is the shortest win streak any SuperBowl team can have. Over the last half of the season the Giants were 4-4 and all NY was wondering if they were doing their traditional Coughlin fade. Both Jacksonville and San Diego came into the playoff games with more momentum.

The steelers were a way better team than the giants are this year.

And the third seed we beat, beat the power that is known as THE INDIANAPOLIS COLTS. ;)

Again selective memory when trying to used flawed logic! Remember the Jags were the hottest team in football, the darlings to win it all! Now, just a fifth seed, nothing compared to those Cowboys who were on fire streaking into the playoffs.;)

It's funny, because when the playoffs started, the Jags were the team NO ONE wanted to play. What happened to them?

The Pats beat them, so they couldn't have been that good!;)

I'd argue that either of the Patriots victories in the postseason was more impressive than any of the Giants victories. In the Jax game, Brady went 26-28 and Maroney rushed for over 100. In the SD game, the Pats won thoroughly and controlled the ball for virtually the entire fourth quarter despite Brady having by far his worst game of the year. Both against teams that were better than any of the 3 that the giants faced.

also, I can't for the life of me understand everyone saying that the Giants have momentum, by the way of their 'winning streak'. It would be impossible for them to have less momentum and still be in the Super Bowl.

Let's take a look at something that's been overlooked in all the hype, and take a real look at the teams New England and New York faced in the playoffs.

Giants:
9-7 Bucs team that had lost 2 straight and 3 of its last 4 games.

13-3 Cowboys team that had lost 2 of its last 3 games and had beaten the Lions by a 28-27 score the week before.

13-3 Packers team that had been absolutely waxed during a bad weather game in week 16 while still trying for HFA. The Giants won this game in overtime after Favre, who'd struggled in both of these bad weather games, tossed a terrible pick to set up the Giants, when he had other receivers open on the play.

Patriots:
11-5 Jaguars team that came into the game having won 4 of 5 and 7 of 9, including 2 on the road against the Steelers. The one loss in those last 5 games was the final game of the season, where Jacksonville was resting players in preparation for the wildcard game. Garrard, for example, didn't play in that final regular season game. Thus, the only loss in that last 9 games where Jacksonville was actually playing full out was a 3 point loss to the Colts, in Indianapolis.

11-5 Chargers team that came into the game having won 8 in a row, and 9 of 10, including 2 victories over a Colts team thought by most pundits to be the second best team in the NFL (behind only the Patriots).

New England has a points differential in the 2 playoff games of +20 against AFC teams that were 'hotter' than the foes the Giants faced. New York has a points differential in the 3 playoff games of +17 against weaker teams that weren't playing all that well, generally speaking.

I'm sorry, but I just don't find the Giants playoff run to be very impressive at all. Now, if the Giants defeat the Patriots, THAT will be impressive.

I love it!! Glad to get the disrespect card mid-week before the game just when the intensity of the practice sessions and the game preparation are at full swing.

I would any day prefer this than too much of media attention on what a great team we are and how we are unstoppable.

Go Pats!!

I have also heard a lot about the Giants 10 game road winning streak, which is certainly impressive. But they lost, what, like 6 games at home this season? How impressive is that? I know we were talking about the post-season, but when talking about the road winning streak, I think it is fair to mention the home losing streak (.250) this year. The question is, which Giants team will show up Sunday (and don't give me Pats are the home team, etc. It is a neutral stadium and, if anything, more people want the underdog Giants to upset the Pats).

Giants lost 5 at home (3-5) and on the road they're 10-1 including playoffs. The Giants have had a good run. I still would rather be 18-0. I am a Giants fan and I will admit that. The Giants have no more momentum than the Pats. They both have had two weeks off. Momentum is only as good as your last game. It will be a great contest. I expect a well played game and hopegfully the Giants win.

The Cowboys whether you choose to believe or not are a very good team. The Packers were also a very good team. Favre is better than a broken down Rivers any day. Tony Romo is also better than Gerard. There really is not point to discrediting both teams. It is very hard to get to the Super Bowl. They're both impressive. It will be a good game. Who ever wins will have earned it.

True. And I have no more money than Tom Brady. Both statements are true. But the opposites of both statements are equally false.

Momementum is meaningless. Play the game. Who cares what the media says. They're are so sick of writing the same stories, they're digging for dirt. This is the same crap everyweek, but for the Super Bowl everyone cares.

Plus, they usually have 1 week to focus on 14-16 games, and now they have 2 weeks to focus on just 1. And everyone is paying attention. It's the nature of the beast.

You've made the point again. We're simply saying that no-one respects 18-0 and you're arguing about how hard your playoff wins were. You've win 3 in a row. We've won 18 in a row. Respect it.
