Most peoeple who attend concerts want to hear the songs they know & love and not a 40 minute drug-hazed jam. Mushrooms and the like may convince some old Dead-heads the jams are really cool, but they really weren't.
Please don't start with the "how many shows" stuff, workhorse...Dead Heads always measure themselves by the number of shows they've been to. # of shows attended means nothing but the number of shows attended. I hope you agree and I don't need to convince you of this.
That was why my college experience made me burn my bandana's and Dead denim jacket.
I've been to a few...hope thats good
I'll never forget the shroomed-out guy with the frisbee and the dog with a bandana collar telling me all the shows he's been to and when he finally asked me "hey man, ever been to the Telluride festival?". That was the moment I began to throw up and stopped being a deadhead....
Although I still love the music, just not the culture...like, know what I mean man?
What was "the Telluride fesival"?
I wasn't into the dead much until after college. I COULD have gone in HS (mid 80s) and college, that would have been something to remember.
Have you ever tried "****'s Picks"? They are live versions of the shows from various eras taking only the best shows. I have a show from May of 1977, 6 disks, and it's just classic. Plus there is REckoning and Dead Set, I like those a lot.
What year did you go to their show? They changed a lot over the years, I can't stand their 60s stuff, don't even like Europe 72 very much. I think 77 to the early 80s were pretty much their best.
