Honestly, who's better: Pats or Colts

Well, Marvin is a beast. Sorry he dislocated Rodney's shoulder by placing Rodney's hand in his facemask. Geesh, Marvin should have been flagged for that. Who else was injured that game??
This only proves you know nothing about the NFL except for the Colts.

I think so far it has proved that you haven't answered the question. ANSWER THE QUESTION!! [in my best John McEnroe voice]

He's back. The guy who was bragging abour Indy beating the Saints (haha) the titans by 2 points, the texans minus there best offensive players and the Broncos who just got buried by the chargers by over 30 points.

Let's see. The Colts team that edged the Pats in the AFC Championship game has:

lost LT Tarik Glenn
lost RB D. Rhodes
lost LB Morris
lost LB Cato June
lost CB Harper
lost CB David
lost DT Booger McFarlend

While that Patriots' team has:

added WR Randy Moss
added WR Wes Welker
added WR Stallworth
added LB Thomas
added CB Randall Gay
added S Rodney Harrison

I don't know, I guess it's the Colts who are better like so many of their fans are saying..........................NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ugoh has done a fantastic job to date. I could post some articles, but why bother
Keith appears to be decent enough to carry some of the load for Addai
Morris hurts, but Hagler and Boiman have shown they are capable
Freddy K is an upgrade over June
Harper would be nice to have
David is toast
ED Johnson is filling in nicely

In the end, overall, I think the Corners and Safties are a more solid, quicker, deeper, and more phyiscal group. We gave up 173 YPG last season. Not going to approach that this season. We are a better team, bottom line.

No one is saying Pats are not, but just putting blinders on, and saying Colts can't be better due to the losses of personnel is a very short sighted remark. But, believe what you want.

Bragging??

Screw you man, get off my back.

Colts are a formidible opponent for you this season, you will not run and hide. 5-0 is 5-0, regardless of who you play. So, that means you with your pansy EAST schedule.

Agreed....unfortunately, the same argument can be made for the Pats schedule thus far. So far this season they've played a 1-3 team, two 1-4 teams, and two 2-3 teams.

But I STILL think the Pats are a better all-around football team. Only time will tell.....

I agree I dont brag about what the pats are doing. Check my stay humble thread out. Pats are a great team. Colts are being overrated a bit.

The afc south is overrated as a whole.

The fact that you think Rocky Boiman is "capable" speaks volumes.

It's safe to say the Patriots are better than the Colts.

Here is Worldwide opinion (as expressed in the long term sports markets):

As of 10/11/07, the WorldSportsExchange http://www.wsex.com/ long-term markets have New England a huge favorite to win the SuperBowl:

100/185 Patriots
100/525 Colts
100/669 Coyboys
100/1328 Steelers
100/1566 Chargers

all the rest

The current secondary bears almost no resemblance to the secondary in the AFCCG, and neither does the D-Line. Or the LB corps, for that matter.

Except for the fact that it's the same players minus Artrell Hawkins

And how many snaps did Rodney and Mr. Gay each take in the AFCCG?

Fair reply. I actually agree with your main point, and that is that you can't just say 'these players are gone, so the Colts can't be better'. That's actually true. Just like when the Pats lost players/coaches and other fans said the team was sunk. Fair enough point, and I agree. However, I wasn't really saying the Colts couldn't be better than they were. The post was, who is better, the Colts or the Patriots? So, while I did point out the exodus of talent from the Colts, what I really did was compare and contrast it to the Patriots who arguably added the top defensive FA player (Thomas) to their team. They added one of the top slot receivers (Welker) to their team. They added two others speedy and talent receivers (Moss and Stallworth) to their team. Heck, our number one receiver (Caldwell) last year, couldn't even make the team. They now have a pro bowl caliber safetey (Harrison), who also was out injured. They've added a CB (Gay), who while not a household name, did start for one of their Super Bowl winning teams, and was out hurt last year. I didn't even take the time to mention that two key players for them last year (Bruschi and Seymour) were playing injured. One is back healthy, and one is due back soon.

So, your response is fair and balanced, but I had anything but blinders on. I laid out specifics in what most would consider a reasonable comparison. I think the Colts are a tremendous team. I'm confident that the Patriots are better, and that barring injury will continue to be so.

Absolutely fair enough. You obviously have plenty of reason to feel as you do, I don't blame you for feeling that way.

I think Offensively, Colts lost Glenn (Ugoh has stepped in very nicely, OROY??). We lost Rhodes, but Addai and Keith might be able to duplicate or improve on last season. Our O-line is very strong, with Charlie Johnson coming back off injury, the added depth will be welcome. As the season progresses, Gonzo will (IMO) see more and more PT. So, while I get it, you added AT, and Harrison is back. I think we can still be successful moving the ball. We faced 3 top defenses in the PO's last season, and while the Ravens held us in check with FG's, we still moved it pretty impressively. Don't get upset, but I don't think your D this season is as good as the Ravens last season.

Your offense is obviously explosive. We'll need as many healthy bodies as possible on the 4th. So hopefully Sanders is healthy, and Keiaho is too. I think we are better equipped with speed and physical play to challenge your O. this year. Honestly, I am hoping that Maroney is healthy and plays. I think we have a better shot at stopping him than Morris.

It appears as though it will be a dog fight. I think there will be the same amount of electricity in the air as there was last January. Hard to believe 5 weeks have gone by already. While it is hard to wait on Sunday, I wish I could slow the season down!

I honestly wouldn't put him on the list as of yet, but to each his own.

Regards,
Chris

While he isn't as good as Harrison, Gay, or Wilson, his very presence on the roster is an improvement over the depth that was forced to play significant snaps in the AFCCG; he's another able body that can be used to cover TEs and backs. That depth was forced to serve as the starters last year.
