1 HOUR LEFT AND COUNTING - NO ASANTE ON THE ACTIVE ROSTER FOR THIS GAME YET.

BB holding out till the last minutes? or teaching Asante to not be an As-hole if you want to play fine - although we can win without you.

Question becomes though....Can they really?

What a moron.............. Leaving the Patriots aside and out of the question for now.

Jets are a .500 team this year. They aren't that good. We'll see at the end of the year though won't we.

Re: Will Asante be activated before the 4PM deadline? - Does he deserve to play this

It's not a question of wheter he deserves to play. The question is, does BB feel he's game-ready enough to make a contribution.

Word is out that Samuel is in great physical shape and constantly worked out in Florida during his holdout - Game shape I guess is another thing.

Is this waiting about Samuel OR an injury situation...so that the team can make the right move?? They DO have to make a move of some kind...

Did Mo Money get activated or what? :p

The San Diego and Indy games are more inportant to win, in my mind.

We can lose this game to the Jets and still win the division easily. We can beat the Jets in Foxboro, negating this SUnday's Jets win.

But if we lose to the Chargers or Colts, we lose the home field advantage tie breaker.

I disagree and I really think you're putting the cart in front of the horse. First and foremost, you control your own fate by winning the division, beating the teams you should be beating and securing a playoff spot. Yes, we play divisional rivals more during the regular season than we do Indy or the Chargers, but these divisional games are hardly walk-throughs even when the Jets, Fish or the Bills teams have been terrible teams.

And so long as we're projecting, a loss to the Jets in Week One could come back to haunt our chances at a playoff bye as much as a head-to-head loss to SD. But to reiterate, this is projecting way too much at this point in the season and we both know so many things change within the course of a long season.

First and foremost, you have to win the division by beating your divisional opponents, secure a playoff spot and let the chips fall where they may.

"We've accomplished something now," linebacker Tedy Bruschi said of New England's division title. "It's our first goal. ... The first thing you have to do is to win the division and then go from there."

Of course. Every loss counts. I agree with everything you say. But the question wasn't: Is the Jets came important? It was: Which is more important? That is, if we were to win one and lose the other, which is least damaging?

Assuming that we are 1-1 after two weeks, I would rather have the tie breaker against the Chargers sewn up, as I believe we will win the division even if we lose the away game of our home-and-away vs the Jets.

But I certainly understand the importance of division games.

I can't wait for tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's 4:00. Do you know where your Asante is?

Re: Will Asante be activated before the 4PM deadline? - Does he deserve to play this

Neither Reiss nor the Pats website has anything posted

Just typical of how sometimes it takes awhile...a transaction HAS to be made...so...there will be something

That's precisely what I had addressed considering it was I who initially brought up the point that the Jets game is more important than the SD game. I've not forgotten what I wrote. But I still think you're putting the cart in front the horses for we really have no clue other than a reasonable projection that the Pats and SD will finish with identical records, whereby the SD game Week 2 will be determined to have been more important.

No transaction HAS to be made. We are at 53 with Asante, at 52 without him. We didn't use the exemption to go over the 53 man limit. If they still have to officially activate him under that scenario, and Bill seemed to dance around the question in his PC this week stating "he has an exemption", we could again be on Mountain time. Remember, cut deadlines last week were actually 6PM eastern. But Asante indicated it would be a game day decision by the coaching staff. So he was either hedging for the company line or he thinks that's what it is. If they don't think he's ready for contact and game situations period, he likely didn't travel with the team, and I'd assume they left a while ago.

Actually a transaction HAS to be made...the exemption is still in place..unless Samuel has been activated and THATwould be the transaction. With Caldwell's cut, the roster is at 52 and they will have to bring up either Childress or Thomas
if Samuel is not activated. The 3rd year Practice Squad rule states that pretty clearly. They could also bring in another player, but I would doubt at this point they would do that. My guess is they will activate him as the 53rd, but who knows at this point. It may be a few hours before there ia an official announcement.

It may be awhile...I think we all know that

Re: Will Asante be activated before the 4PM deadline? - Does he deserve to play this

If they didn't activate Samuel then I would guess the Patriots wouldn't have had to notify the NFL. Maybe that's why there's no word on what happened. It seems obvious that when teams fax things to the NFL, the media has no way of knowing what that was until the team announces it. Or the cutdown list last weekend would have been known sooner.

Re: Will Asante be activated before the 4PM deadline? - Does he deserve to play this

So did the Pats activate Asante or not? And did they need too? IE was he on pup or something?
