I was pretty bummed all afternoon about Gronk. The situation makes me even more upset how we screwed up last year's opportunity. However, trying to cheer myself up I pretty much realized it's basically a fair fight now to get to the SB in the AFC.

And as I have been posting for a while the Pats would have to epic screw up to not get the 2 seed. Which they certainly should still be able to win a "fair fight" divisional game at home. Also, they have a decent shot at the #1 seed still, but worst case this team is in the AFCCG on the road. It would be a fair fight probably at either Oakland or KC. (but it might be at home)

I like our chances to get to Super Bowl 51 regardless. Then it's one big game. As a sports fan it should be exciting.

I'm not thinking superbowl yet. I'm thinking AFC East winner since Miami has been a quiet threat and can steal the division from NE if they winout and NE loses against Miami and one other team.

Nobody thought a 1-4 Miami would be 7-4. I don't see why 12-4 is out of reach.

I believe Miami will lose next 2 and Pats win next two and will be AFC East champs at 11-2, then go to Denver.

Gotta see how the offense will operate. Alot of people have to step up. I think the defense will have to play well now if the offense struggles at times.

Taking away Gronk makes it easier to shut down Edelman, if you take away him and stuff the run then this team is entirely beatable with this defense, i wanna see how they do in Denver and Miami without Gronk before i'm confident of anything in the playoffs.

Keep this team to under 24 in January and almost every AFC playoff team on their day can get to 24 against this D even in Foxboro bar Houston who might not even be in.

It doesn't take that much to totally turn a game when you're missing Gronk take away 2 x 20 yard explosion plays from Gronk and 4 redzone trips that would of been 4 TDs turn into 2 TDs 2 FGs with no Gronk and a what was once a comfortable win is now a tight game.

Now you're relying on the defense and kicker, good luck with that.

AFC East is a lock? New England is 9-2 and Miami is 7-4. Miami has won 6 straight. How is the division a lock? I think we win the division, but calling it a lock is pushing it. :D
it's a lock. And with it the number 2 seed. They would have to win out with us dropping two (and one would have to be to them) It's a lock.

this team has more offensive weapons still than any of our other three Super Bowl Champions.

I did say it is now a fair fight. Before losing Gronk if we got home field I would have considered it an unfair fight to face the Patriots.

I highly doubt NE would agree with you. Calling something that is still statistically very plausible a lock is a formula for giving up the division. Its not even close to be a lock until Miami loses another game. New England can still drop one before Miami and our game against Miami won't be easy.

I wouldn't call something a lock until it is or so close that you know it is. At this point, its not close enough to call it a lock. Five games left to be played.

Why do you think this team is unbeatable with Gronk?

We made the Seahawks offense look like the greatest show on turf they went up and down the field in Foxboro and they've played 3 games this year where they didn't even score a touchdown, that's not even a good offense.

Brady is out there limping around, the kicker misses FGs and XPs under 40 yards almost every week, the defense is JAG city Ryan Fitzpatrick who had like a 70 passer rating for the season looked good against us last week with a 115 QB rating almost every QB has their seasons best game against this D and you're that confident?

This team isn't even a lock to win it's divisional round game right now, you could have Baltimore/Pittsburgh or Denver in here Divisional Round.

Nah, it's locked up.

Talking AFC. With a healthy Gronk and HFA noone would have stopped them. Now it's a fair fight. If we have HFA still a little tilted toward Pats.

Agreed. I said now it is a fair fight. If we get the 2 seed, that means 2 games, (one at a time) 1 at home at least.. a fair fight at the point, with one exception possibly being at Denver. The games are fair fights 50/50 now. If the get the 2 seed, their chances are good to get to the SB. Then it is just one game anything can happen.

Nah, it's locked up.
Just don't end up dissapointed. I think we win the division, but I'm not going to call it a lock until Miami loses another game or we enter Week 17 13-2. I think Brady and company still see Miami as a division threat and with good reason. Its more fair to say 6-5 Buffalo won't win the division.

I don't get where you keep getting this fair fight stuff from, this team has 1 Super Bowl in 10 years, plenty of teams have kicked our asses in the playoffs

"Fair fight?"

I won't be disappointed if it happens. I have been a fan for over 40 years. In 1980 they were 7-2 and most pundits thought one of the best teams in the NFL.. but they ran out of gas and went 3 and 4 to end up 10-6 and missed the playoffs... I was 13.. I tell you I was a lot more disappointed that year than anything that can happen this year would do to me.

But here are the facts.
Pats have the division and the seconds seed locked up barring an epic meltdown. Pats will win these next 2 home games, boom 11-2. Dolphins are at Baltimore, and home against Arizona. They could drop both (unlikely, but likely they drop one of them in my opinion) If they drop both we win the division in 2 weeks.) and also clinch the 2 seed. The 1 seed could just come by attrition after that as every else has to play each other.

the Dolphins still have a game at Buffalo, and of course we are beating them if necessary. The division is not a problem, and as a ramification the number 2 seed is not a problem.

As on the OP, what I am saying is they have a fighter's chance to win two playoff games (one definitely at home) and get to the Super Bowl. (I mean I thought we had the GOAT QB after all)

In the Super Bowl it is one game and anything can happen.
