Who here isn't happy with JG performance?

Jimmy was up and down. Had some ok plays and some not so good ones.

The offense is so vanilla. Not much he can really do.

Plus that CAR D is no joke.

Also any QB playing before or after TB is already in a bad spot.

Hopefully a solid couple of weeks of practice and extra work with JE, Gronk, etc will get him to where he can move the ball on a regular basis.

We will see first 4 games when it counts with pressure and urgency, real line-up, plays etc. I knew Cassel would be a decent back up in '08 but didn't expect an 11-5 season. JG should hand it over to TB in pretty good shape, feeling optimistic about first 4.

No Gronk, no Bennett, minimal Edelman & vanilla game plan.. and we expect??
Agreed! Think we'll see a much cleaner, clearer game plan against Arizona. Adding Gronk to this offense changes everything about it including the coverage Bennett will see. That is going to be a lethal combo, Gronk and Bennett.

I'm not going to hold that against him, vanilla offense against a very good defense in their stadium. I think he will have some struggles but will get them to at least .500 before turning it over to Brady.

Seeing the contrast from Garoppolo to Brady has been startling. My original prediction for the first 4 games has gone from 3-1/2-2 to more of a 2-2/1-3 start.

Another thing that has been settled now that we see them both in action is the nonsense about trading Brady if Garoppolo wins.

And Cassel took this team to 11-5
cassel has also taken over a team that was 18-1 (near perfect)
not sure what Jimmy could do, perhaps he would have went 12-4 or 10-6, we will never know

with that said, jimmy is going to grow in these 4 games, and will have a some growing pains, as long as his head is not up his ass, he will be fine with the talent around him

I mean pretty much a rookie..vs a very good D..(aka Week 1 vs AZ) So hopefully he takes some from last night and makes some better decisions week 1.

I can see it now...he throws 2 Ints vs Az...and the forum explodes with "no playoffs" "We're screwed" Because it's going to happen..there will be growing pains and we just have to take the good with the bad

game day threads are going to be interesting to say the least

Game 3
Bisquick > JAG

Every series these guys get is instrumental in their development. Brady got just the right amount of snaps to stimulate the nascent real game subconscious response patterns.

I am going to try and stay out the first couple of weeks because he will have some mistakes...and the world will end

What's also really going to help Jimmy G so much is not having Brady on the sidelines or around the team for the first 4 games. Was really disappointed in Brady's lack of involvement with JG and Josh when Jimmy was in the game. You'd have thought they had Zika virus or something. When Brady was playing JG was right there in the coaches huddle on the sidelines. When Jimmy was playing Brady was nowhere in sight. Think Brady would have had some observations, some advice, some encouragement that could have helped Jimmy G? Sure do but Tom Brady isn't secure enough in his own skin to act that way. Love Brady the player but his immature baby persona gets exposed every so often and it's tiresome and a turn off. Also think it's a major reason he's so disliked by other players around the league.
It's all about the team right Tom??

I think he'll be fine. Nobody looked worried on the sideline. He'll have ups and downs. He's does have a tough act to follow. Let's see how he fares in the first four weeks. It won't be pretty, but it'll be okay.

I'm giving JAG a pass on game one. Tough D, 1st real game. It would be easy for him to exceed my expectations opening game unless he has a meltdown which I do NOT expect.
By game 3 I'll be carrying a Bisquick for Starter sign if he fails to perform.

He's having trouble sometimes progressing through his reads and finding the open man quickly when the opposing defense plays bump and run. There were multiple times that I saw last night where he locked onto his first read then almost panicked when that guy wasn't open. But, again, it's the preseason. Edelman was rusty and it's hard to get a very real read on his play. As was mentioned before, Cassel didn't exactly look like he was lighting the world on fire either in previous preseasons but did decently (albeit against a soft schedule) in 2008 so there's hope.

Wow this is trolly.

JG has raved about how much Brady has been helping him. Don't you think that maybe it's a good idea for JG to be dealing with the coaches and the game without Brady breathing over his shoulder? Just a thought.

I am on a plane to SF....and i turned on ESPN for the first time in months...and Hodge is on talking about Jimmy G and how he has 0 confidence....and it begins.
