Who here isn't happy with JG performance?

Again, they do not gameplan for these games, they don't show much of the offense and there was no Gronk. Gronk's mere presence causes other players to be open. I have little doubt that this offense will be fine especially from what I've seen from both Blount and Gaffney.

I thought the defense looked great last night, they let Newton sit in the picket and forced him to make be patient and accurate, and he can't be either.

I really do like what I saw in Brisket, he gets rid of the ball quick and throws a frozen rope! Just after they drafted him, ESPN was replaying NC State's bowl game and I caught some of it and he looked really good then.

So here's what going to happen. The Pats go 4-0, Brady comes back, Aladdin is traded to Dallas for 2 first round draft picks after Romo is knocked out for the season.

Trolly?? :D Actually I've been a Patriot fan long before Brady ever arrived but I am a rarity since I call them as I see them and I'm not a Patriot fanboy who's into idol worship.
I stand by my comments. Brady's actions say more than Jimmy G's words. What exactly do you expect Jimmy G to say about Tom Brady?? Think about that as you buy everything that you are fed.
Believe your eyes.

This is a ridiculous post.

You just created a crap pie story based on what you saw?

Do you have any other info besides a few glimpses?

How about this glimpse taken 3 days ago?

If i dont see it, it never happened

Seeing the contrast from Garoppolo to Brady has been startling. My original prediction for the first 4 games has gone from 3-1/2-2 to more of a 2-2/1-3 start.

Another thing that has been settled now that we see them both in action is the nonsense about trading Brady if Garoppolo wins.
Way too early to make predictions.
I think the best we can say is that they will start with a record somewhere between 3--1 and 1--3 (with 4--0 a more likely "outlier outcome" than 0--4) and that the actual outcome will depend on factors that we can't predict given that how JG will perform in a real game is still basically an unknown.

If we aren't happy with JG then the Panther fans must be suicidal about their veteren reigning league MVP QB who had a worse night.

I thought he had a great first drive and then Ghost misses an easy 3 pt FG. He had some bonehead plays but that is what Pre-season is about, making mistakes, learning from them and correcting them before the real games start. All he has to do is be a game manager for 4 games and not turn the ball over nothing more nothing less.

BTW I think the play calling by Josh has been sub par too and that can play into a QB's performance.
like your post other than that i don't think Josh is going to show his hand during the preseason, especially against a first class D.

JG is who I always thought he was. I think he has the potential to be a serviceable QB, but nothing special. Certainly not a franchise player.

But he'll need to be better than last night to be particularly serviceable. Pocket presence is shaky, and he makes more bad decisions than can be tolerated.

I do not see JG having a long term future in NE, and TBH I never did...whether he plays decently or not in these first four games.

Brissett looks rock solid in accordance to expectations for him. It's a bit early to say but I think that he'll be the guy waiting in the wings behind Brady over the next few years.
you're right about one thing..."It's a bit early to say."

Brisett obvously needs more time but after watching Jimmy look like he was stuck in a tractor beam all night, Im starting to feel like he could be given the hook early if he loses in Arizona, which most of us expect and then falls behind early in in the Miami game in Foxboro. You can almost hear the boos now. Hope I'm wrong but I did not get the warm and fuzzies off that.
People who boo Garoppolo in his first game starting in Foxboro, especially given the circumstances, should be stripped of their Season Tickets on the spot and escorted, not so gently, to the nearest Exit. Even if he throws pick sixes on his first three possessions, true fans will be shouting encouragement, not booing him.

He's not Brady, of course, but he'll be fine. I'd rather have him hold the ball against a strong pass rush than hand it to the other team.

Getting rid of it quick is a strength. If he builds on that and gets better protection schemes and a good short passing scheme, that will short circuit the balls to the wall rushes and allow him to build confidence.

I said Brisket looked good on a team where he was running for his life most plays, but looking good against3rd stringers doesn't mean you're ready to steer the ship.

They will come after Jimmy, it's guaranteed. He and the team have to execute a game plan to counteract that until other teams fear his counterattack.

And of course, a major advantage Brissett has over Garoppolo, is the ease in which we were able to find nicknames for Brissett (Brisket, Biscuit) vs for Garoppolo (Grapes, JAG, Aladdin).

We struggled finding nicknames for Garopollo while the nicknames for Brissett wrote themselves.

At this point I'm somewhat ..ambivalent..?
I feel concern when I see performances like last night, then I remind myself that with all the 1st string offense on field we may see something quite different..
Honestly though, and this is terrible, I just don't really care about JG. The season will truly start for me on week 5. I've been a Pats fan for 20 years, and have never felt quite like this. I feel a raging, futile, sense of injustice.
Occasionally I go through threads on here and like every "**** Goodell" post I see.

Very powerful is the Dark Side in you.

But channel that energy you must for the good of the Force.

The Padawan named Garoppolo will take up the Lightsaber of a Jedi Knight. Into battle he will go to fight with the strength of the One Who Wears The Number Twelve behind him.

"Truly start" the season will on the planet of Arizona in the Stadium of the University of Phoenix.

"Care about" Jimmy we must.

Season stars in two weeks and we truly need to get our guy ready for it, I expected a complete game plan for him, we need him to start making some plays...remember you don't want to be known as a game manager but a play maker.

you're right about one thing..."It's a bit early to say."
Regardless he has played well when called upon. I did not say he is any better than Garropolo yet.

I was pretty much referring to your entire post. ;)

Jimmy G looks small in that photo compared to Brady...

Lets say we get through the first 4 game 3-1. However, its because our D and a decent game manager job by Jimmy.

The browns propose a trade that involves Jimmy for Joe Thomas.

Do you take it?

Move Solder to RT, and throw Joe into the LT. Thomas had his 2nd best year as a pro last year, and gave up zero sacks and only 24 pressures on 799 snaps.
He and solder for the remainder of Bradys careers would be game over for the rest of the league.

Forget the talk about multiple first rounds picks, Id be happy with 2 more years of Thomas.

It is quite possible that BB is making a concerted effort to keep the game plan as vanilla as possible to keep other teams from getting a read on Jimmy.

May improve the chances of Jimmy doing well in his 4 games.

I agree, but I'd feel about the same if, say, Tannehill were our QB. We really need to see him in reg season action to determine that. I have faith in the system as a whole. I really think BB deliberately focused more on the defensive side, ala 2015 Denver, to compensate for the loss of TB. But, of course, that's total conjecture. ...(and alcohol)
