Draft Day 2: Official Rounds 2-3 Thread

I like the Brissett pick. the Valentine pick on the other hand. Looks like a limited Nose that can take on double teams, but might be the most unathletic prospect I've ever watched. Still, I'm fine with the first three picks, let's see what our 100 picks will be like tomorrow. after Valentine, the only way is up in terms of levels of disappointment.
Looks like we have gone back to the space eaters and are content to let the LB's make plays. Now we just have to pay the LB's.

Why does the patriots front office hate drafting offensive playmakers early? Gronk is the one exception. We should try it more often. Too much defense and average O line and garbage QBs

Don't you get it? The goal is to win the OFFSEASON!
This is why I never start whining or throwing a hissy fit on draft day. We have Belichick and Brady. We're going to be fine, we're going to be in the playoffs. We'll probably be in the championship game, we might even end up in the Super Bowl.

I myself wasn't much of a fan of our last two picks tonight but I think there is a wee bit of an overreaction.

We have a **** ton of picks this year. We are probably going to hit on a few and miss on several. But JFC people need to cool down.

Did you ever watch Ron Brace play?

Umm.... He left with the coaching change at UF, as the assistant coach who had recruited him got fired too and then went to NC State
Who and that's not the main reason he transferred. The kid had the starting job and lost it

Rohan Davey-esque if you ask me.

I gotta think we have better QB coaches than NC state.

He gave FSU a run for its money in the game I posted. Looks like a cross between Russell Wilson and Big Ben. If he can be coached up, I can see some real potential.

Wow, how'd I miss that?

Thin k they'll re-sign Easley? Hehehehe.
You missed it? There was a parade that led to the podium where he held a press conference to announce his triumphant return.

So all the vets are going to say "no I may get cut a month in so why bother?'
I see there being little motivation for NE to pay competitively in the backup market. Given the money that they would likely be offered by BB/NE in light of the fact that it would be a short-term arrangement under which they would almost certainly be cut as soon as Brady returns to the active roster, I also see very little motivation for any QB good enough to stay on a team for the whole season to sign a deal to "compete" in NE this year. So, yes. Taking a pro-rated salary for 4 weeks plus a minimal signing bonus in a league where solid vet backups make millions?

The only counterpoint to that would be assuming they would want to trade JG in-season before the deadline and keep this grizzled veteran, but even then they'd also have to be prepared to take the cap increase comparing JG's cap hit to the vet minimums.

I don't see why, if JG plays well in the first four games, he wouldn't bring a pretty good price. Teams just got done paying stupidhigh prices for those stiffs in this years draft.
Is true. But the Pats would also be dealing them a player that would have to paid some significant fraction of an Osweiler type price almost immediately to make the trade work for the new team. Maybe my example was a little low on the ask, but even if the guy had the greatest 4 games of all time there's some limits to the Pats leverage.

Lyoko lifted my spirits a bit by saying that they'll make picks tomorrow where we say "if we swap valentine in the third for Xbox in the 6th, the draft doesn't look so bad." This is true as it happens every year.

We are drafting an Xbox?

That may be a better use of the picks than we've seen so far.

Athletes are competitive by nature. I am sure they aren't going to sign a contract thinking they are gong to be cut. Combine that with the fact that there are 32 number 2 quarterback jobs in the world and a lot more than 32 serviceable enough guys out there to at least put up some semblance of a fight.

I'm totally deflated by this draft so far. Hey, someone had to do it.
