I'm pretty sure even late round rookie contracts become non-negligible money in late years, which is why I think I saw Chris Jones mentioned a couple times as a potential cap cut despite being a 6th rounder like Gaffney. So this probably gives him a contract more in like with the "UDFA/offseason only" type player he's turned out to be so far.
Gaffney's contact was for about $600K. Chris Jones is scheduled to receive $1.7M.

For the record, that's because he played more than 35% of the snaps in each of his first two seasons; the current CBA mandates that any player drafted in rounds 3–7 who plays >35% of snaps in any two of their first three seasons, or an average of 35% over the three, gets the lowest RFA tender amount in year four.

Logan Ryan and Duron Harmon have $1.6M salaries this year for the same reason.
