Manning Didn't Necessarily Win Denver The Game, But He Didn't Lose it. Same Can't Be Said For Brady

I know, I know. How dare I criticize the great tom brady. Listen, the o-line was a complete embarrassment and I certainly rank them higher on the list of reasons we lost than brady. I even rank belichick higher on the list. However, having a bad o-line shouldn't and doesn't excuse the QB from every bad throw and decision he makes. Brady, he was among the reasons we lost that game. Its ok to say that and still be a hardcore brady and pats supporter, I promise. IMO, the only way denver was winning that game was with some help from our guys. That help came in the form of two gift interceptions and one of those led to 7. I forgot if the other one led to points someone needs to refresh my memory on that.

Manning gets hammered all the time for choking and making crucial mistakes in the playoffs. I don't think manning played great by any means, but he didn't make any crucial momentum changing interceptions like brady did. Which is a shame because honestly the only thing we needed brady to do is protect the ball and I think we win, he couldn't do it. IMO manning played about as well as he could have at this stage in his career. Sometimes its not always about the plays you make, but the mistakes you don't. Manning played a mistake free game and his team is in the SB because of it. *Also obviously because of that great defense they have but that goes without saying* I have alot of respect for him and that denver team. I really think things would have played out alot differently had we gone for home field advantage instead of giving it away. I hope we learn from this going into next year. If you have a chance at HFA, you go after it with everything you have, period. I really think the argument can be made that our realistic SB hopes died the moment belichick decided HFA wasn't a top priority.

Anyways I'm rambling now. I know we will be back next year battling for the one for the thumb. I'm still very disappointed, mostly at belichick and our pathetic o-line, but the better team won and there's no shame in that. We'll get em next year, GO PATS!

Ghost makes that XP and we don't have to go for 2 at the end. We go to OT with all the momentum.

Better yet, kick the FG instead of going for it on 4th down the first time, and the final TD would have been the game winner.

Blaming Brady, who had 0 help from the Oline, is absurd.

You can blame Brady for his interceptions. His first one which led directly to the TD was a terrible, uncharacteristic decision.

That play and Gostowski's missed XP were killers. Even so with the way the OL failed Brady I dont blame him. We wouldn't have had a snow balls chance in hell of taking that game to OT if it wasn't for Brady.

Imagine if Manning was playing behind that OL of ours and trying to make throws on Sunday? He'd probably have thrown 4-5 INTs himself.

I am profoundly tired of this type of thread... Can we stop pleeeeease!!!!

Our defense pressured Manning, also. He just made the minimal completions he needed and avoided fatal mistakes. You can even argue our lone TD was off the flukish but correctly called "fumble"/backward pass play. Others our offense was impotent.
Our 2nd TD Was on a prayer of a play...almost a Hail Mary on 4th down. Lots of crazy things had to happen to even get to a 2point attempt. The missed PAT affected the game in many ways, but we were so outplayed I cannot blame the loss solely on that.

Name for me the quarterbacks hit over 20 times in a game that have led their team to victory.

To my knowledge, there are none, in the modern history* of the NFL. And TB12 darn-near pulled it off.

*I would presume that some single-wing QBs who never threw the ball, back in the dark ages, ran 20+ and got hit 20+ times. I'm talking about dropback quarterbacks.

Even if Hoyer was our QB I don't think I could blame the loss on him. The Oline just got curb stomped.

I agree and give blame to everyone you just listed. That doesn't mean tho, that brady doesn't deserve blame for throwing two god awful interceptions. I blame belichick and ghost for being part of the reason we lost too. That doesn't mean brady deserves no blame just because other people messed up too.

who has won 4 SB's?

who has been to 7 SB's

who has been to 10 AFCC's?

who has been to the playoffs 13 of 14 years playing?

any negativity whatsoever is a complete insult to my years of watching this team through some **** that would make more than half the people here disappear.......the pain of watching football around here when it was nothing more than a joke (although it never seemed like it to me at the time)

watching guys like Fairbanks and Parcells bail in mid flight
watching guys like Rust and Macpherson turn into corpses on the bench

watching the sullivans.......

people have no clue when they say **** like this

yah.....I yearn for the days of hugh millen again

Which is really all I'm doing. His interceptions are a big reason we lost. I apologize for pointing that out tho. *Not directed at you specifically*.

He is right Brady sucks he has done nothing for us I can't wait to get rid of him. Lets see this tough guy get hit by those animals 23 times and see what a great QB he is. What did Brady do lead them down for a potential tying TD. I really hate some fans.

Some things:
  • Manning wasn't under the constant pressure that Brady was. His line sucks, but not as bad as the Pats' o-line did yesterday.
  • When he was under pressure, Manning did stupid things. Remember the five yard sack that he turned into 12 yards because instead of diving to the ground, he ran 7 yards backwards to avoid the sack?
  • Manning could have been picked a couple of times yesterday and just wasn't.
  • The only real drive Manning was effective was the opening drive where the Pats played a soft zone to allow the Broncos to tip their hand. Unfortunately the Pats didn't clamp down the defense near the red zone like they usually do.
I am not trying to sugar coat Brady's game because he had a horrible game. But it wasn't all his fault. If Manning faced the Broncos' defense yesterday, he would have turtled as bad or worse than Brady.

That has nothing to do with this thread and is completely irrelevant to this discussion.

the first pick was so bad...and in denver territory.
2nd one tom just throw a bomb to james white in double coverage. thank god edleman pushed stewart out of bounds otherwise that's a pick 6.

with all that being said, had we gotten one FG, gronk wins the game.

sick and tired of peyton. win or lose, i hope that old piece of **** retires.

Yeah, because that's what I said and implied. Straw man at its finest.

The OL was atrocious yesterday but Brady didn't have a good day either. The picks were bad decisions and he missed several throws. Dude's human, even he can't be perfect all the time.

it is only irrelevant if you're a fair weather fan who doesn't acknowledge there is a good team on the other side of the ball

completely senseless and insignificant whining on your part
