Matt Forte would flourish here. He is a total Patriot back and has a few good years left. Him with Dion would be so lethal.
assuming the oline gets fixed...yes
Obviously Forte would be an incredible pickup, if we could pull it off.
Imagine a backfield of Forte, Lewis, White and whomever. That would be an amazing group.
For wideouts, I think we should target Mohamed Sanu. Bill liked him pre-draft and I think he could fit in here.
Sanu operates from the slot, we don't need another slot squirrel. We need a tall outside threat.
Brady's potential decline has to be taken into account for the future.
The list of QBs to play at an elite level at age 39 or older in the history of the NFL:
Favre
Moon
The team is and will be absolutely loaded going into next season. As long as Brady doesn't decline we should be favorites to win it all again.
Look, we can have Adrian Peterson in the backfield. Won't help if the OL cannot even make a crease of an opening for a RB to get thru.
Passive aggressive Jimmy G post
Lol, I still remember my prediction after Jimmy G was drafted. Brady would decline to the point that moving on to Garoppolo in his third season in 2016 would be realistic. Oops.
Brady's fight against father time and the history of the NFL has been something to watch. It should continue through at least next year and probably until the end of his deal at 40 years old.
I still have doubts that Brady will be able to defy the entire history of the league and play at a high level into his 40s but showing no signs of decline at age 38 is a great sign.
But why make it harder for Brady? And if anyone can do it then why were they throwing deep to a RB in a AFC title game? Brady is going to be 39. It's time to give him a "classic" offense to run. Imagine how good they could be with Edelman, Gronk, Lewis and a REAL outside WR this time. If anyone of them gets hurt you have more margin for error."deep threat" is just a weird fascination this forum has. The offense doesn't require one and unless you have a stellar OL then you don't want a 39 year old standing there waiting for a receiver to get 30 yards down field.
Any receiver that can get open and any OL that can sustain a block will do for me.

It kills me to say this but after 2017 we have to let brady walk and start Jimmy G in 2018, at that point you have to start thinking about the future of.this franchise and brady will be 40 and jimmy will be 26 and jimmys contract ends in 2017 also if we keep brady and let jimmy walk what are we going to do a few years after when brady retires and its not as simple as tanking a season and signing some random qb, franchise qbs dont grow on trees and i think garoppollo can keep.this team competitive post brady i mean was the best qb drafted in 2014 and considering our track record its crazy that we drafted a qb like that they usually wind up on the bum teams
Solder and Lewis would not have helped that much today. Even if we had won it would be tough against this carolina team. the interior O-line is terrible.
I think that will be addressed after next season. If Brady plays how he did this season, next year with better protection, we would be dumb to let our best player in franchise history left.
Brady has earned the "play until I can't play anymore" treatment from us.
We came within 3 points. Both Solder and Lewis would have helped a lot, perhaps even one field goal's worth.
