Would they add Ball or Iosofa for RB depth and go with what they have on defense?

They have ways to cover for Mayo, who was not playing much anyway (Freeny). Jackson has looked less than impressive as he is unable to make lateral cuts to create space and the OL gives him very little. I was thinking that Ball might be a consideration if he is showing anything in practice.

This is a real shame. But it was clear he hadn't fully recovered from the patella surgery yet. There is no question that the only way he stays with the Pats is if he take a huge pay cut or becomes a coach.

Even at the league minimum, he'd get well over a million. So if he wants to play for around $2MM plus incentives to 4, they will probably work things out, because it is well known that BB loves him....even if Felger and afew others here don't.

Don't disregard the coaching thing. Mayo went all in as a Pat a while ago. He lives here now fulltime, and his family is deeply rooted in NE (Wrentham). He has young kids in school and loves area as well as the organization. If he wants to play, I don't think he'll get more than what the Pats offer, and if he retires, I'm sure there will be a job for him within the organization if he wants it.

Sad news with all the injuries he's endured. At least we had him in our playoff game vs the Chiefs.

I will hate to see him go. His greatness was washed away playing on some truly abysmal defenses.

On a side note, it will be interesting to see how bad the injury is. They wont be able to do anything with his deal if hes still not cleared by a doctor.

I believe since it's not a actually cut and it's about picking up the option the injury doesn't matter.
