OT Mort has stage 4 throat Cancer

I'm hoping Mort has a full recovery. I used to be a BIG ESPN Fan, and he was always one of the voices of football for me, especially one of my favorite things, the Draft. Very sad to hear this news and my thoughts are with him and his family. Get well Mort.

You should have taken advantage of the ignore thread feature, or kept your take to yourself. Ian made his position pretty clear.

Fine then. Having cancer excuses everything he did and makes everything that happened OK. If you disagree with that, you're obviously a monster.

Did you actually read his post? He offered sympathy to a guy with throat cancer if and only if he acknowledges that he reported incorrect info and somehow blows the lid off of Deflategate.

This is because of a tweet about the air pressure in footballs.

I'm both proud of this forum and grossed out at the same time.

The hate is very sad...

I love this team, but there's more to life than football. He reported one huge mistake. No one should hold that against him at a time like this.

Prayers for Mort. Guy as a family. Good people make mistakes too. Time Patriot fans let go whatever hate they have for the guy.

IMO Mort the ESPN employee is not Chris Mortenson the human who has a family and cancer. Just saying ....

horrible news, hoping for a full recovery... cancer sucks!

I'm starting to wonder if I'm a cold person. I can sincerely say I wish Mort did not have cancer, but I'm not prepared to support Mort in the way I would someone who has earned my respect and/or love. I need to go to Church more.

Hope he makes a full receovery. I, as a Patriots fan dislike the guy for what he did to this organization, just like the next fellow fan here. But football is just a game, this is life and death. Whether you like the guy, his work, or what he did, or absolutely despise him, has nothing to do with his physical well being. He is a human being, and I do not wish this goddamn diease on my worst enemies. I truly hope he makes full recovery and survives this thing.

There are many other ways to wish something upon someone who has done something to offend you, be it karma, or however you want to call it. CANCER however is not karma, it is pure evil in its uttermost ugly form, and as far as I'm concerned, no human being should be wished upon to face this evil. There are other MUCH MUCH less harmful ways to get even with someoen, or wish him some sort of misfortune. Cancer is not it.

Get well Mort.

I'm not going to make comment on his personal situation as cancer isn't a laughing matter but Mort had plenty of opportunities to correct his mistake. He chose not to.

Who gives a ****? Guys on his death bed.

Let it go. Its only football. No one went to jail for it.

Our culture is designed to desensitize us. I don't think Mort needs your direct support. Hopefully he has ones that are close who love and respect him. that can offer that That said, he and his family deserve your empathy. Such things can be found outside of church, but for some, church is an excellent source.

Tom Brady appears to have plenty of life left. His reputation has forever been tarnished for something he didn't do. Just because Mort's suffering from ill health he should be forgiven for not even saying sorry Tom, I got it wrong?

Most people would like Mort to recover and regain his health but that does not change the irreparable harm he has caused.

I think Michael Douglas recovered from Stage 4 throat cancer or some oral cancer. Hopefully, Mort can do the same.
Yes. Just double checked.

Mort ****ed up. We can acknowledge that and still have empathy for him. We all eff up sometimes.

My aunt had advanced throat cancer but was successfully treated. Cancer free for 5 years now. I believe throat cancer isn't the worse type of cancer so he has a good shot of getting through this. May God grant him recovery.

Correct. They are separate issues.

Except for Wheelman no one wants Mort to die.

When Mort does recover he will still have a legacy in these parts of being a sniveling, spineless, corporate lackey who chose to cover his own ass and not to do the right thing and proclaim Tom's innocence.

Brady playing tomorrow for a chance to make his 5th straight AFC championship...He's doing alright..

You're right, and almost everyone here wishes him well in his fight (as do I) but I don't see the need to forgive him for something he never took ownership of because he's suffering ill health.
Gotchya. It might be worth making your support more clear in your critical posts.

F that guy. However, knowing family that has died from cancer, I still hope he gets better and just leaves sports reporting after a healthy recovery.

Goodell and others spent $5M and a calendar year (and counting) to literally frame Brady, but Mort is the devil because he reported what the NFL leaked to him.

Again, in a thread about a guy's throat cancer, people are talking about his unforgivable sin of reporting.

Lastly, I'm laughing at the notion that, if he had only apologized (against his powerful employer's agenda, mind you), everyone would be just fine with Mort now.

Edit: Also, why would he "proclaim Tom's innocence?"
