Smith and Peters on the outside are outside press corners. I don't see either being moved inside to cover Gronk, JE or AD. KC might put Berry on Gronk and go with a single high safety not fearing LaFell or Martin on the outside. If KC decides to play man coverage and jam the receivers I think this could be a big game for White and they could effectively use the draw play especially if Hali and Houston take a lot of wide angles. KC's run defense is fairly stout and I don't see this being a big game for Jackson unless they are going to use him as a pass blocker and then set up some screens but I still think I prefer using White more.

If the OL does it's job I think JE, AD and White have very big games and the Pats win. Spread them out and get force them to cover White with one of their LBs.

Lafell and Martin should just run Smith and Peters deep all day long.

Ideally I agree with your thoughts. KC is not a smart team so they may just leave Edelman on their slot guy and Gronk on a LB. Even if they try to put Marcus on Gronk or Edelman it won't work out too well.

Peters can not keep up with Edelman's quickness and Edelman is not easy to bump at the line. If they try to bump Gronk on the line and don't give help over the top you are setting yourself up to fail.

sounds good to me. I don't necessarily think our run game will be effective either but you never know. Jackson hasnt played in the playoffs since 2005 so he should be determined. I'm actually hoping Smith and Peters cover JE and Dola, leaving LaFell unattended to redeem himself this game.

I honestly believe that the difference the secondary makes depends on the opportunities the front 7 create

i think if the pats can protect the QB, it doesn't matter who the opponent has back there

The best way for this Patriots team to attack an aggressive, man press defense it to get rid of the ball quickly, be it screens, crossing patterns, and rub routes etc.

If the Chiefs are intrepid enough to let one of their defenders go one-on-one with Gronkowski, then we should see the play action deep seam routes to the TE as the game progresses, especially if the Patriots get the running game going.

Luckily, the Patriots are getting the players back to run these bread-n-butter plays in their playbook.

They would be idiots if they didn't put Peters on Edelman.

He'll never stay with JE. His one shot is to jam him but if he misses good night.

Not many people CAN stay with Edelman on shallow crossing routes and slants. Most CB's best chance is to press him at the LOS. Peters can do that better than any other CB on the Chiefs roster.

as much as i usually love it when josh abandons it, i think it's a good game to try and get the run going. against a pass d this good it'll help so much (especially for gronk) if we have a legit run game.

Pats first drive of the game should be shotgun no huddle... not hurry up automatically but no huddle.

Edelman, Gronk, Amendola, White and aother TE/OL to help block. Add Lafell or Martin in as you feel you need or if you feel you can take that extra blocker off. Short and screen the first few plays. Nothing deep while the DL is still fresh. After 5 or 6 plays then you can look for something maybe 25 yards down the field to Gronk.

as long as he doesn't waste plays on long throws to WR's, I'm ok with the rest now that Edelman is back

I see Brady sacked 4 times in this game.

Put Edelman in motion as often as possible, take away Peters strength and make him play off.

Perhaps it's desirable to throw some long passes just to spread out the secondary, even if those long passes, considered in isolation, seem ineffective.

If the secondary knows there will never be a long pass, it's easier to cover certain routes and fakes, restricting short passes later.

I admit it's possible.

If the Patriots offense has 37+ minutes for time of possession.

There's certainly a chance that Brady is sacked a few times, and I think that could be said for any opponent, particularly with the struggles of our OL lately.

The pressure from Hali, Houston, and Poe can cause some problems for sure. I still think we win, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see the Chiefs defense come to play.
