1. This has been a very tough year for the Giants with all the injuries combined with all the late 4th quarter losses. I imagine it took a toll on the oldest HC in the league.
2. He's definitely a HOF head coach. He has the playoff wins, the superbowl wins, the overall success, and the fact he did it with multiple franchises. Parcells has the reputation and hype, (mostly because of his relationship to the media), but I'd rather have Coughlin as my HC. I think he had the better career if you take it objectively.
Disclaimer: I have been on the record for several years in my belief that Parcells is the most over rated HC in NFL history. It's not that he wasn't a good HC, just not close to as good as the media made him out to be. His presence on the ballot for the Pats HOF is a constant offense to me, and should be for every Pats fan. I pray he NEVER gets in.
3. I'm getting a little tired of all the crap about the Giants being the Pats "nemesis". First of all in both games the Giants were HUGELY lucky on a number of plays to be able to barely eke by with wins. Secondly, in the 2nd game, the Giants had the better roster and should have won the game. Yet were just a missed Welker catch away from losing it, (among a number of other plays they got)
The 2011 Pats weren't really ready to make a drive to the superbowl, as they were in just the 2nd year of a major rebuild. That season reminded me a lot of the 20o1 team They were another team who was in the 2nd year of a major rebuild who got some breaks and made an unexpected run to a superbowl title. The only difference is that in THAT Superbowl game, the Pats got some breaks, and made the key plays. They win might have never happened if Redman or Brown don't make plays on those passes
People seem to forget that GETTING to a superbowl is incredibly hard to do. So much good has to happen over the course of the 18 games it takes to get there (injuries, bounces, calls, etc). The fact that we've gotten to 6 of them over the last 15 years is MORE than remarkable. The fact that we've managed to win 4 of them is something we should be very proud of. Just ask a Bill fan of the 90's
