Here's a question. How does everyone thing Moss/Welker would have fared against that Seattle defense. I have a hard time seeing them duplicate what Gronk/JE did.

This feels like revisionist history, guys. Moss and Welker were the most dominating players at their positions, maybe of all time.

I wish peeps would come to grips with this. Can you imagine having a beer with Shefter and the subject of GOAT WRs come up. Moss, Sticky, Mega, TO, Harrison, etc. Then you talk about greatest Slot guys all time. Ernest Givens, Charlie Joiner, Throw Welker in there for sure.

Ditto Gronk.

But the real point is what I bolded -- Gronk is remarkable in how flexibly he can be used, and Edelman can be used somewhat more flexibly than Welker as well.

Gronk may be the most dominant player at his position at all time at all positions.

Guys are very delusional up here. Put a prime (25ish not 30 yr old)moss with Brady and he goes for 30 tds in a season. Welker at his best was better than Jules at his best imo. Stop the nonsense, yes Welker dropped a SB pass but doesn't take away from the player he was. Give moss and Welker this supporting cast and secondary and there 19-0. And don't forget we were on are way to a loss also until a young man stepped in front of a stupid throw. You can't compare guys when there not given the same weapons around them smh.

This is really splitting hairs, but I chose Gronk/Edelman over Moss/Welker due to the SB49.

No, and no.

Talent wise, Moss and Welker top Gronk/Edelman for me, but grit wise, Moss and Welker can not hold their jock.

The Gronk/Edelman team has better offensive supporting cast. As BB said, double Moss and clog the middle of the field and our offense sputtered, granted it took quite some time for that to happen, but it did prove effective.

Edelman may never give us the consistent 1200-1600 yard seasons that Welker did but he appears to be open even more often and is always there. Gronk is as productive as Moss but it's more about just being a huge beast and less about being an athletic god like Moss was, harder to shut Gronk down IMO. Gifted athlete AND he's 6'6. Scary combo for the NFL.

Plus I prefer the supporting cast of Ridley/Vereen/Blount/Dola/LaFell/Dobson over Gaffney/Stallworth/Watson/Maroney/BJGE/the disaster crew that was 2009.

You kind of made an argument for Welker/Moss: how would they do with the supporting caste of Lewis/Blount/Chandler/Lafell? And how would Gronk/JE11 do with Maroney/BJGE/Watson?

No, and no.

yes, and yes. "You can't compare guys when there not given the same weapons around them" is dead on.

Put Dion Lewis, Lafell, and Blount with Welker and Moss. Young Moss would go over 30 TDs.

Anyone who says they'd prefer Gronkowski and JE11... tell me how you would defend against Moss/Welker/Lafell/Dion Lewis/Blount/Amendola.

If Gronkowski plays another 6-8 healthy seasons, he will be a top 10 NFL player of all-time. I don't think people fully appreciate that Gronkowski in his prime is at least equal to Moss in his prime and likely better. No tight end in the history of the league can hold a candle to Gronkowski's all-around domination.

I have started a couple of threads detailing why Edelman is better than Welker, mainly because of his power and catch radius.

Gronk and Edelman are stronger and tougher to jam and throw off their routes. They are also more versatile and better red zone threats (Gronk slightly over Moss and Edelman by far over Welker.)

Nothing at all against Moss and Welker, but Gronkowski and Edelman are a little bit better.

Why are you making up teams that didn't and never will exist?

Moss was great, but Gronk is far more versatile. Welker was great by JE is more versatile AND more clutch.

why are you comparing players that did not have the same supporting case around them?

do you seriously think Gronk and JE11 would have enjoyed the success they have with Maroney and Stallworth and those guys? this is about how good the players are and you cannot evaluate that unless you consider their skill sets with the SAME surrounding cast.

Why does anyone care who is better? Does it matter?

Troy Brown is more clutch and versatile then all of them . Who gives a ****.

That's irrelevant because they weren't on that team. They're on this one. This offense is harder to defend and I prefer them.

2007 Maroney was better than 2015 Blount. And 2011 BJGE might have been too.

LoMo? I guess you live in a world where 4.5 is higher than 4.6 and a TD every 30 touches is better than a TD every 17 touches.

Even suggesting a 2011 BJGE is better than a 15 Blount is insane.

Just stop. Seriously, if some you have to work this hard and rewrite history to try to prove player A is better than player B. Then player A isnt better than player B

Of all time? Dunno, but right now Gronk is the most uncoverable receiver in the NFL.
