2016 Draft Prospect Thread

I'd add Bobby Wagner and Thomas Davis to that list although where they sit on it is up for debate.
That is a good debate: Kueckly/Davis vs Hightower/Collins. I'd put my $ on the later

Hightower/Collins are better going forward, Kuechly/Davis are probably better in coverage.

What are your thoughts on Carl Nassib - DE - PSU? He's a former walk-on who is playing like an
all-american and day 2 draft pick. PSU's has two very good DT's which make it easier for him. I'm
kinda shocked how good he's playing. Curious what others think.

I don't think we'll be drafting another safety, although this guy is more a safety/LB hybrid but this sounds like someone BB could make use of:

Well the 2 spots that jump out to me are OT or CB so assuming we don't pick one of those here is someone i found that i like.

Sheldon Day - DT - 285 lbs 6'1 - Another DT???? Yep. In the mold of Donald and Easley. Like Easley he has injury issues so that can make him potentially fall to 64 or lower. While perhaps not exactly as good as the other 2 he would allow us to completely move on from Branch who is not getting any younger and field 2 pass rushing DTs. He is the kind of athlete you always have room for.

Seems like an interesting player.

To be fair, I haven't watched Day, but I'll raise your guy with Jonathan Bullard. Plays DE and 3-tech and I believe he might be better than Dominique Easley. Check the link below to see his get off. Also bear in mind that he's arguably the best run stopping 4-3 end in CFB.

Seems interesting but I have not looked at him. Right now he is projected to go a while before we pick though :( I am trying to look mostly at people I feel can realistically be there. I want to see how he moves on the board (up or down) before i get over excited about a player we won't get :(

I have nothing to back this up, but I think Patriots pick OT with the first pick and WR and/or TE with the next picks. Vollmer and Cannon got 1 year left so a replacement for RT ( Swing LT ) makes sense. Dobson and Lafell got 1 year left, Dola if reworked the same, fresh blood is needed. Same with Chandler really.

So for now its Tyler Johnstone for me, could be the a top OT if not for 2x ACLs in his right knee. BB picked Easley anyway, grabbing him in second could be a steal.

If we sign a relatively young cb to start opposite Butler(Sean Smith), there really aren't any holes on the team. A younger T to bring along to eventually replace SeaBass would be my top target. Saves us money too. Can release M. Cannon. If we had a first, I think we'd get a pretty good tackle. Maybe, a slight move up this year.

Montese Overton, OLB, East Carolina

6-3, 221lbs, Snr

Obviously undersized by Patriots standards but fits a hybrid safety/LB position. The thing about Overton is that he's an outstanding athlete. Firstly, he's a genuine threat to run under 4.4 at the combine - the East Carolina site says that he's been timed at 4.31 which has to be taken with a pinch of salt, but even so. Has a 36.5 vert and a 10.5 broad with a sub 4.00 short shuttle 3.97 (Amari Cooper went 3.98) and a sub 7.00 3-cone.

If the intention is to add speed/quickness to the defense, Overton certainly fits the bill. Also has 7.5 sacks on the year, although 4 came in one game against SMU. I like him as a day 3 option with lots of upside.

PFF on Overton at the start of the year:

Overton spent more time in coverage than he did rushing the passer last season (271 snaps in coverage versus 175 rushes), but East Carolina should look to use him off the edge even more this season. His pass-rushing productivity ranked second among 3-4 outside linebackers at 15.3 (four sacks, six hits, 22 hurries on those 175 rushes). He was also stout against the run at 79.2, while ranking fourth among 3-4 outside linebackers with a run-stop percentage of 8.6. Overton was particularly impressive in the bowl game against Florida when he was stout at the point of attack and notched a season-high six stops. If he gets unleashed off the edge this fall, he has 10-sack potential and the NFL will be taking notice.

Ranking top 10 players outside Power 5

Maybe a more athletic Matthew Wells?

Auburn RB Jovon Robinson. 6' 230lb junior.

Legarrette Blount?

A Patriots guy at a Rutgers game? That's different:)
